Cinci Zoo Gorilla Death
The Interpreter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Much more: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2016/05/29/cincinnati-zoo-reopens-after-gorilla-attack/85124064/ So: Was this or was this not a "gorilla attack"? The headine, article and quotes are inconsistent. It appears the child was not being held but instead did crawl through a fence. If so, how is this even possible? It wouldn't seem the zoo is completely non-negligent here IF this is true... -

At the bottoms of supports--controlled movement between the footings and the support. I believe you will see a few, very few, even on Diamondback. -

Which brings up an interesting question, or several. How many people does Kings Island Theater sit? In the average day, how many different people see at least one Kings Island show? About what percentage of Kings Island unique visitors see at least one show each year? About what percentage sees a show but doesn't ride any coaster? And lastly, how do any of these percentages compare to those of the Seventies and Eighties? Taft and KECO quite obviously spent more--a LOT more--on entertainment than Paramount and Cedar Fair...

This is true, but the most experimental thing GCI has ever done wasuse a steel support structure... Huh?Comet, The Great Escape, A Member Of The Six Flags Theme Park Family, née Crystal Beach, Canada, née The Crystal Beach Cyclone. Coney Island Cyclone, Brooklyn, NYC I could go on for days. What, pray tell, is experimental about a wooden coaster on a steel frame? And NO ONE called those grand woodies hybrids before a few years ago. On the other hand: Nitro's restraints. First ever such. Floorless coasters--see Medusa now Bizzaro at NJFTP. Sit down looper seating position. Compare all B&M's since to Kumba. To say B&M doesn't experiment is to be a stereotypical enthusiast who cannot be bothered with facts or to blissfully go along with convention--not knowing any better. One more: Look at older B&M supports, say on Nitro. Look at the huge ball bearings...watch the evolution since. -

I'm waiting to hear about stays at the Hotel Conneaut. After many bad experiences there, any improvement would be welcome. -

I gotta remember DC weather may not be Cinci weather. It's nearly 90 here, bright and sunny, with a near cloudless sky. This is the only day of the weekend that's expected to be such.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
The Interpreter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Today, Conneaut Lake Park is scheduled to open for the season. Still no word on the $5,500 debt hearing this week. Next week, the parties are to file their joint proposal for a reorganization plan. Note that deadline after deadline has passed in the past with no such plan being approved by the court. And, the Beach Club insurance payout remains on hold, the taxing creditors having appealed to a higher court. Since filing bankruptcy in December 2014, the park has added more than a million dollars more debt, and netted not a single dime. -
Those are the rules. You cannot smoke outside smoking areas, curse, wear profanity laden clothing, cut in ride lines (unless you pay to), enter food service exits to jump in front of people as you are only getting a drink refill, &c. And yet...
