Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

Ever hear of a building permit? In some jurisdictions, you need one even to paint interior walls or install a new (or replace a) water heater. -
What do you miss most from PKI's past?

In addition to all of the above, Paramount Parks' food service, way they treated their employees and guests, ways they paid their employees... Cedar Fair does many things better than Paramount Parks did, but food service, customer service and employee relations are not among them. And Cedar Fair itself does not do ride operations or food service as well as it did in the 1990's... -

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
The Interpreter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's frustrating. I get PM's 'correcting' me nearly every time I say something of personal knowledge. "Website, please." I blame Wikipedia and this generation of teachers. A website trumps personal knowledge. That's sad. When I grew up, old people with personal knowledge were primary sources. Primary sources were valued more than secondary sources. I guess few realize that nowadays a secondary source can be fabricated far easier than ever before. There's so much baloney on the Internet. And more every day. I feel sorry for future historians. So much to sort through, so much of it crap.- 571 replies

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?

And they ignore corrections, even when sent extensive documentation. I suspect they get many corrections that are incorrect. And so, they pay little to no attention to them. -
Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?

I've been going to Conneaut for over 25 years. I've gotten to the point where I am 'corrected' so often by those who cite websites, I am just about ready to quit sharing knowledge. I've ridden all three trains (now two) at Conneaut literally hundreds of times each. I've sent many corrections to rcdb. I gave up on them long ago. I guess my experience counts for little. Such is life. The Vettel somewhere in Colorado is the Lakeside Cyclone. I've been there many times, too. The trains there, the owner told me, lovingly made replacements, built in house. There were also Vettels in Louisiana and Virginia. Sadly, I missed both. Barely. -

Pretty sure they have two sets of trains. The PTC trains have 3 benches but my understanding is they are running 2 bench trains from NAD for the last few years. There was a Vettel train--it has fixed lapbars and a wood frame. Neither the state nor the insurance company will permit its use. There were two NAD Century Flyer trains. Four cars, three bench. NAD Century Flyers were three bench cars. One of the two was the train lost in the fire. I know not of any PTC trains at Conneaut Lake Park. -
Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?

I am told it opened at 5 Monday, with a car missing and only six working seats...three cars--six working seats. The cars are each supposed to have three benches... -
Note that Taft's grooming standards were different. Very different. So were the times. What an awesome picture!

It was here. Captain Nemo. And why would the park have to give permission? It's not restricted airspace. EDIT: For manned aircraft... -

Perhaps we should let the investigators investigate before reaching conclusions. -

The parks I listed have rides on top of rides. Land is not an issue for Kings Dominion. See also Cedar Point. -

I was stunned when the police department originally said there would be no charges pursued. Police don't get to make those decisions. Prosecutors do. I'd liked to have been a fly on the wall when the prosecutors' office contacted the police department. I bet that conversation was .... interesting. -

Actually, the deadline extension is a full seven days this year. Interesting. Also, Cedar Point is selling Carowinds Gold Passes now, I guess. CA, CP, CW... Pricing integrity normally only gets thrown to the wind when sales aren't meeting expectations. Terp, just sayin'

... I really want some new Mack hotness in the US, if they can make something really close to Maverick I'm all for it! STR was really close to Maverick. That's a good place.
