  1. This has been posted here many, many times. It's nice to see it again. Thanks!
  2. Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park attempt to lease Hotel Conneaut without court approval and to a vendor who apparently has no hotel experience but is a finance professor and once ran the Beach Club and concessions at the park: http://m.meadvilletribune.com/news/hotel-conneaut-to-reopen-with-new-operator-in-new-year/article_73489a90-a9a1-11e5-9ef0-dff20af330e3.html?mode=jqm Hoo boy!
  3. And...after a lot of bureaucratic effort, they converted that pass to a KD Platinum Pass. Sure enough, when I got to Kings Island, it didn't work. There was no data whatsoever loaded on the pass. Kings Island fixed that. (I told them I had the receipt in the car, but they said that would not be necessary). Later that season, I went back to KD. Guess what didn't work? Converted again....
  4. Early on, Cedar Fair tried pricing integrity--most notably charging extra for season pass parking with season passes. There was a near rebellion. The company quickly backed down, but the damage was done. Paramount passes included free admission to sister parks. Under Cedar Fair, they no longer did...and you at first couldn't even pay extra to get it, except for the Ohio parks. (Remember MAXX passes?). This, too, quickly changed. It was a mistake that wouldn't be repeated.
  5. Because he was talking about increased attendance since the Cedar Fair acquisition. He mentioned every Paramount Park where that was true at the time....
  6. wow! Thanks! Such incredible work--and so good to see it here! Again, thank you!
  7. Paramount Canada's Wonderland and Paramount's Carowinds. The former in the province of Ontario. The Kings Dominion one was already closed when Cedar Fair bought Paramount Parks on June 30, 2006.
  8. Definitely deserves a bump, center rail or not.
  9. A lot of wisdom in this one. And a poster being sarcastic predicted two things that did happen and one that almost did: * Son of Beast DID have another accident and stood not operating for quite some time. * Son of Beast was removed. * CBS planned to relocate Flight of Fear from Kings Island (and Kings Dominion). Cedar Fair stopped that. Terp, who'd like some pi, Mr. RailRider!
  10. As ridiculous as it may sound, I think a TOP priority MUST be fixing the lack of urgency, lackadaisical food service. In my opinion the meal plans have enforced the perception of "People Gotta Eat," and made service a VERY low priority. Raise the service levels, but also improve quality and selection. Make guests not on meal plans actually "Wanna Eat. At the park." To call current Kings Island food service mediocre is being charitable.
  11. See the Camden Park thread if you really want to see alleged violations. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/31643-camden-park-faces-65000-in-penalties-for-workplace-safety-hazards/
  12. Excuse me. That day the "park near you" did NOT let me in that Sunday. Fortunately, the young(er) Mr. Kinzel is gone. I suspect the reason was the same both times. In each case, had I not been a poster here, and known, I suspect there would have been no issue.

  14. I feel very, very old. 2016 -- Kings Island's 45th season.
  15. Company Can Return To Limited Operations, but: A. Stretch Ducks are not approved. B. Each Duck must have at least two employees. Also additional mirrors and cameras. C. Drivers who work more than 12 hours (!) a day must keep logs. D. Aurora Bridge cannot be used. E. Proposed route includes Fremont Bridge in City of Seattle, which may not approve its use. F. Just last week, the company was inspected and had 442 violations and got an unsatisfactory rating. If the company doesn't raise its rating by late January (why is it allowed to operate with this record?), it can be closed again. http://q13fox.com/2015/12/21/ride-the-ducks-is-back-in-business/
  16. If beyond Kings Island is an option, Rolling Thunder--to virtually no one's surprise. I'm still stunned its gone.
  17. Guests back on ground. Emergency brake malfunctioned. http://m.wesh.com/news/passengers-say-theyre-stuck-on-ride-at-seaworld-orlando/37068508
