2012 Attendance Figures
The Interpreter replied to TheCrypt's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Matt Ouimet. Cedar Fair. Disney. Somehow, by now I thought Cedar Fair would be more down the road of adopting Disneyesque levels of service. Instead, some things, like food service in particular, seem to have taken giant steps...backwards. I don't get it. At least shade is coming. -
And now, two years later, watching who did what is instructive. Dan no longer has any interest in Holiday World. Pat is not seen at Holiday World, and laudatory IAAPA articles that call Paula Werne a "goddess" write Pat and her late husband Bill out of the park's history, and yet some still see the family as a "coalition." Not only has it not been that for a long time now, if anything, things seem worse now than they have been for quite some time. Holiday World. Family. Family values.

It's not just polite. It's the law. And using photographs without permission? Generally not lawful. Filming on rides without permission? Same, but, more importantly, potentially very hazardous.

And were it in New Jersey... A group there is trying to force the parking lot to be covered...with solar panels.

My favorite two words in the article (and the only "news" for me): "...more shade...." Hallelujah!! So Dad can drink a....Coke. Yeah, right. Nevertheless, it's about time. Can TRAMS be next? Please? (And why do I hear Jeff Seibert saying "cheap and cheerful?) Terp, in his seventh decade lover of shade and trams- 24 replies

It's not just whether a train can handle an inversion. It's also whether the train manufacturer will allow its trains to be used that way. That's how Son of Beast ended up with its original trains.

Hotel Advice for Kings Dominion Visit in 2016
The Interpreter replied to PGalati's topic in Trip Reports
(There is a hotel in the parking lot, operated by the park. Note the absence of recommendations for same....) -

And I will be back there after the park is sold. http://www.iaapa.org/news/funworld/funworld-magazine/holiday-world-s-thunderbird---august-2015 Not a word about Pat. Will, it says, led the park for 20 years (obviously Pat had NOTHING to do with it). Paula Werne is a goddess, Matt's predecessor was Will... To write out of the Park's history a woman who was and is truly a pioneer in the industry, who is living yet today, and to try to pretend she had nothing to do with it. I also assume from the article that Will, like the park itself, raised himself, because neither his living Mother Pat nor his long deceased Father Bill merits even a mention. Pat's 84 years old. She ran the park for years after her husband's untimely death. Will was one of several children, and only in the last few years before his death was he running the place. Even then, as the family would tell you then, it was a collective family effort. And Pat? Working still. But not at Holiday World. Disrespectful? Arrogant? Naivè? Pathetic? Sad. Truly sad.

And what does an OSHA proposed fine have to do with this? Employees are covered by workers' compensation, and generally CANNOT successfully sue their employer for workplace injuries absent willful and wanton intentional employer caused injury and/or gross negligence. And OSHA fines are typically very small, usually reduced in negotiations, and/or on appeal. And they go to OSHA, NOT employees. Rich? You WANT to lose a life, limb. and/or a quality of life for money?

And what did Terp post April 28, 2013? In this very thread? And then not say another word about it? Being quiet, diverse, yet dropping an occasional clue A good thing to do. To quote westcoaster To the future!

That article is messed up. A cement company was fined due to procedures greasing rollers on a ride? Really?

There were also Montgomery Inn ribs and Fried Chicken. Most people assumed it would be far more expensive than Columbia Palace lka Wings. It wasn't. And they refilled soft drinks, tea and coffee. It was VERY nice.
