  1. Hayo, I'm moving this to it's own thread as I feel it's more suited in it's own thing than taking up replies in another thread. So, I am simply copy-pasting what I put over there onto this thread. (excluding some now unnecessary information) While my intention is not to directly advertise a twitter account, I developed a twitter bot that automatically posts a few interesting things relating to Kings Island (hence some KIC members might be interested) 1. Every morning, the bot will post the operating hours of the day and when the park will open. If the park is not open, it tells you when the next operating day is and when the park will open. 2. Whenever the park opens or closes, it tells you either how long the park is open for and when the next opening date will be. 3. During operating hours, the bot will post wait time updates once every hour, at the half past mark. (10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, etc) until close. 4. Alongside these operating hours, the bot will post snips of the official Kings Island webcams (found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/live-video) The wait times run off of the same data other wait-time sites use - like queue-times, thrill-data, or isitpacked. The images are still-images fetched from the video feeds directly and sent as media. The reason I developed this bot is solely so myself and others can see current wait-times in a quick way, how busy the park is, and other info right from twitter whenever I'm scrolling through it. Hope you'll find it kind of neat like I do, as you may even be able to see yourself if you time it right. If you are interested in seeing these automatic updates on your timeline, feel free to give the bot a follow on the handle KIWaitTimeBot. My long-term goal is to have it also post end-day statistics in a visualized format to get an idea of how busy the park was for any given day, similar to how thrill-data and queue-times do it. The web-cam snip part is brand new as of yesterday and for an unknown error, the 6:30PM webcam snip did not function properly. Am debugging!
  2. It actually partially was; they redid the turnarounds. https://www.wcpo.com/money/consumer/dont-waste-your-money/kings-island-racer-coaster-getting-new-track-smoother-ride
  3. darn they're fast, not even Halloween yet original photo credit to TBKarate
  4. 5. Thunder Alley 4. Firehawk 3. The Crypt 2. Slingshot 1. Vortex
  5. There’s a Reddit post with photos out and about. Dents in the track, wheel missing. Thankfully nobody was hurt but this could easily spell the end of Bat. 30 years in 2023.
  6. Shh!! Don’t let the others know!! Keeps the line short that way
  7. It didn't break down once for me on Saturday, ran just fine. Somedays are worse than others. Rather it be down than have an accident, so you tell me
  8. Yesterday I heard the usual “Yeah at night they turn the brakes off on Beast” a few times. Operator on Orion also called it “The Orion”…… is this the right thread???? Haha
  9. Can confirm start and stops are basically gone. Saw it park in one stop today on one of my twelve Beast rides (I like Beast ) One major issue I noticed that was NOT present last time I visited is a rather big pothole, or what could be called a fun bump. Immediately after the second trim, what feels like the right side of the train jolts up for a split second then falls back in line with the track. This is much more noticeable in the front than the back, but still not undistinguished. Anyone have an idea how recent this is?
  10. Anyone else notice a new pothole on Beast after the second trim? (Right where the basic retracked part started) Seems new but getting bad.
  11. Hayo! Just wanted to make note that the website now has the webcams listed once again! https://www.visitkingsisland.com/live-video Cheers!
  12. since this thread popped up again, I'll also put a final answer of what happened in regards to my original question. Partially re-stating previous replies, but 1. Gold Pass gets you in no-matter what into parking I presume there are some flags if someone enters the lot too quickly with a gold pass to help reduce fraud (more than one in a short time-span), but overall it doesn't mind general re-entry every so often. 2. Despite what the Season Pass ToS says for KI, the park does not require season passholders to acquire a "stamp" (a receipt ticket basically) to re-enter the park. You just re-use your season pass. That's really it, I had a blast at Coasterstock and am already looking forward to the next one.
  13. Gotta love good old fashion speculation and rumors. Whatever Cedar Fair does at Kings Island, one of their top 3 in the chain, will be over the top. Whether that be a bunch of new flats or a new coaster, it'll be a good addition. I hope to see either a mix of flats, new middle-ground coaster, and theming like what we're seeing in Jungle X-Pedition at KD and the rumored Carowinds crossroads expansion. I think Cedar Point will get a new coaster, or even a new kid area expansion, before we get another major investment, and whatever mysterious stuff is happening over at WoF, but we're on the list probably around Kings Dominion 50th anniversary I would imagine.
  14. The ride ops on Friday and Saturday were mocking the train basically. My favorite quote from one of the operators I heard was "I'm walking backwards slowly and I'm STILL winning!"
  15. while most make the argument that the trims are there as a way to "preserve the ride", they aren't wrong, but that's not the entire reason too without trims it's apparently incredibly intense in the area after the midcourse, both for the rider and the ride itself. The structure simply can't handle it very well, given it was designed with the idea the train would be going slower, so if we want any hope of seeing some of the trims removed/reduced, we'd have to see a lot of the structure redone (like what happened with the helix) and the post-midcourse shed to second lift reprofiled as well for the higher speeds. Unless KI is willing to invest that much money in the ride to removing the things keeping it here long-term, we're gonna see those trims keep hitting. My guess is the Sunday incident (may 8th) was a fluke by maintenance, which was corrected before the next operating day. as much as I would LOVE to see the trims removed or reduced in some fashion, I don't think it's going to happen for the remaining life of the ride. (can see this past offseason work giving the ride another 10-20 years) (we may even see GG come back a few years down the road to redo the rest of the helix) that's my view on it at least; long live The Beast
  16. The beauty of Coasterstock is keeping crowds under control so you aren’t getting like one ride in during ERT. Holiday World for example, 3 hour wait for a ride on Voyage at night. Not really enjoyable for anyone.
  17. Was my first time at Coasterstock. While you can’t go wrong with a good night ride, the daily itinerary the event offers isn’t stuff you normally can do on any given day. Which is why it’s so much fun. By far my favorite events were the backstage tours, especially of Beast. You really get a feel for how far back the ride goes when you walk out there! Same for Orion, it’s crazy! Do you think we might see some backstage tours pop up throughout the summer sorta like last year? (August backstage Beast tour) Hoping I can attend next years too, made some new friends.
  18. Beast is having an identity crisis today.
  19. @Shawn Meyer From what I heard, a women came back into the station unconscious. they took a precaution to inspect the ride and close it early, we can expect it to re-open tomorrow given no issues are found (was likely a pre-existing condition, so I presume it wasn’t really the rides direct fault) I may be wrong, but whatever it is hope the women is doing alright.
  20. The park has really upped their game on line-jumpers, while confrontation can lead to unneeded violence it can help detour some people from considering even line-jumping. Kids especially seem to think nobody will care if they cut, but it adds up.
