  1. The pastry team produce the stuff for Sweet Spot and they are the ones in the kitchen. But the people in the front are still merchandise it is a joint store. But the register is still run by merchandise so merchandise is the one that does the hot chocolate not the food people in the back. At least that is what I’ve heard and what it seems like based on when I was there.
  2. As a former sweet spot employee I totally understand how it is frustrating that you can’t get hot chocolate there with your drink plan. I have been through many difficult talks with customers that they cannot get their hot chocolate cups refilled there and it is never fun for me or the customer. The merchandise department claims there hot chocolate is “gourmet hot chocolate” and they do not do the refill cups. You have to buy the special mug they have there which is different then the red top thermos like mug. It is super stupid and I understand the guest frustration because of this. But please do not take it out on the employees they do try there best I know most of them at least try to recommend somewhere else you can get your cup either refilled or get the drink plan hot chocolate. It is not up to the employees it is all upper management from what I remember. It’s been like that since 2021 when I was an employee there. This is also a reason why Sweet Spot is not on the premium meal and snack plan. From what I remember at least. French corner is always a good alternative, but I understand the frustration.
  3. I have a feeling it might not be open this weekend due to the start of WinterFest set up that may have started. But I could be wrong.
  4. Does anyone know when that sign disappeared was it due to construction and just never put back or one season was it just gone?
  5. I think that is true, but they will need to find a new location for the new drone show, so I feel like it is possible for us to see a new location for the show at the start of next season if they are planning on putting something in The Vortex plot in 2026. They could probably try to launch the drones from the area in front of slaughter house.
  6. I felt like this was the best topic to post this under, but I saw today on one of the Facebook groups that someone had posted a picture of land leveling that was going on behind the former Son of Beast station and pieces for me started to fall into place. I do not think that the area behind the Son of Beast station will be the location for the next major attraction being added to the park. It is pretty apparent that something may be going in the former Vortex plot in 2026. As seen by the numerous survey markers that have been seen in that area. Those pictures are located in this thread, but I was listening to the new tower topics episode today and that also inspired the idea. But if something does go there then the park needs to find a new spot to be able to launch the drones from. I have a feeling that they will try to move either the firework launch area or the drone launch area to that big flat piece of land. Of course this is just speculation and I do not know more then anybody else. I just feel like that would be the most logical sense for the land clearing going on behind the Son of Beast station.
  7. Why would you not want something new in there. Something that you have never seen before. You have already presumably ridden the ride and a new experience would probably be better executed anyway.
  8. Looks like they are not done with announcements just yet!
  9. I was speaking with someone who works at the park and they said that the French corner bar was planned to be done for the start of the 2024 season. That of course did not end up happening and also two weeks for them to remodel the bar is just not true at all. I believe someone posted French corner was closed for renovations for at least a month or two before it reopened. For the French corner bar all they did was remove the center island and put in the new curved island to the side probably a prefabricated piece while the drink stand is from the ground up. Also I feel like the French corner bar upgrade makes the overall restaurant feel a lot nicer in general and has a more open feel.
  10. If they publish the blueprints I will let you know which bathroom it is. I am not a big waterpark guy, something about them just gives me the ick. But I can share a screenshot of the blueprints and you can tell me which bathroom it is. I have not been to the waterpark actually since I was a wee little lad. But I know the one bathroom right next to coconut cove, but I do not know where the other one is.
  11. Permits for a renovation to the bathroom were filed. It will hopefully be nice those bathrooms really need some tcl they are so rough. Also looking at the blueprints on the Mason permitting site it appears that the Soak City subway will be turned into a blue ice cream stand.
  12. What you think about the interactions at Cedar Point versus at KI do you think one park did obviously better than the other?
  13. I really do not understand this at all. It does not make much sense to me why they would install these. I do not see them serving much purpose besides running ads for gold passes and maybe a map popping up occasionally, but I would love to be proved wrong. What do you guys see these little screens being used for and what have you seen on them besides the Kings Island Halloween Haunt thing. I am away at school and would love to hear what they are displaying. This is obviously not a cheap investment and required a decent amount of money.
  14. I like the gold pass just randomly appearing in the promo.
  15. I feel like it is a bit naive to believe that opening the new coaster had nothing to do with the failure of TT2 and it not being open this year. It definitely does not have much to do with selling hotel rooms. But having a coaster that will be open hopefully at the same time TT2 will open will help if there is even more downtime for the ride. No matter what happens next year a ride theoretically should open next year which would be sirens curse. Also like said above it fills a difficult spot to fill at the park.
  16. Should of put this is the other post, so sorry. But as much as this excites me to see I really hope they do something with The Vortex plot of land before doing something with the Son of Beast station. However, since they do use The Vortex plot for the drone launches I could see them not putting anything in that spot.
  17. I did see they put red spot lights on it I feel like they would be turned off if this was not intentional. But since the spotlights are their I think it is safe to assume it is not a maintenance issue or the flame running out of propane or whatever it runs off of.
  18. A permit was recently filed for the renovation of the Soak City subway! Really excited to see what they do with it, I could see them turning it into an actual skyline or possibly a bar as well. A bar I feel is less likely since they built the coconut cove bar which seems to be a major investment in alcohol over there but never say never. I really hope that it is an original restaurant though.
  19. So is the flame actually out? Also it would be funny if they proceeded to just tear down the station after all this.
  20. That stand is called International Street Treats I believe. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/dining/international-street-treats
  21. Very true when I made a trip to Cedar Point this year I had free tickets so it did not make sense to stay at the hotel since it is so expensive and the real perk is buying a ticket bundle with the hotel stay and getting ERT. If I had been to Cedar Point before my trip this year I probably would have weighted to go till next year to ride TT2 since it is such a far drive from Cincy. But since it was my first time ever going I took the opportunity to go.
  22. You by any chance looking at the 2025 calendar?
  23. It’s not necessarily just because of 2024, it is all cause the ride was unable to be built in Mexico. But yes very last minute addition for sure.
  24. Also reading on Reddit the history of this ride is funny. It appears that at first it was meant for energylandia and then six flags Mexico picked it up and now it’s at Cedar Point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. It said opening summer of 2025, so it won't open with the park. Especially since no footers or anything have been poured. It also looked like their was a tunnel in the video rendering.
