This may go even lower than a Six Flags play. These are two parks that were shut down without a goodbye not just rides. For me it is way worse to shut down a park without final goodbyes then rides. This is actually crazy to me and I feel for the people who just got places that they loved shut down without any prior notice. If Six Flags did this I think people would go berserk. I get that they may be smaller parks without rides or anything and just like an arcade and some mini golf, but someone grew up there and loved to go there so it stinks to see.

SFDK, CGA, Gilroy, and Santa Cruz 8/30-9/1
SmartCat7162 replied to johnjniehaus's topic in Trip Reports
What did you think about the zoo portion of SFDK? I feel like I don’t hear much about it and I think they have a pretty large collection of animals. -
I really like this idea since it will truly stimulate the rider and light up their brains. It would be revolutionary nothing like this would ever be done before and KI would once again be able to be the first to do something. I would be worried because it wouldn't be my instagram reels so it wouldn't be tailored to me, but they could make it so you can login in to your account.

Kings Island 2025 Food Reviews and Discussion
SmartCat7162 replied to Losantiville Mining Co.'s topic in Kings Island
Thanks for all the pictures by any chance did you get to checkout the Sweet Spot? If so how did everything look is it mostly new desserts for haunt with a few classics returning or is it the same menu? -
If they have a poster board of menu items in front of the stands please take pictures and post them here. I won't be able to make it to the event this year, but wanted to see all the food offerings. I would really appreciate it. I still am holding out hope that they post the menu online, but they still have yet to.

Swapping to Looney Tunes at this point in time would probably be too much of a financial burden for the company, so when they ran the numbers they realized they could save money in the short term by renewing the contract.

At the end of the day the little kids do not care. It is more about what the parents want because at that age the parents mostly decide what the kids do. So if the parents are nostalgic to peanuts then they will want there kids to like it thus making them go to the park. The theming is more for parents and awards more then anything most people could care less about what the ride is called and looks like and more about what it does. Most kids say they want to ride something because they see what it does not because it is painted to look like something else.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge

They are able to keep costs down because they do not order for one restaurant and do not have different suppliers for everything. They are still producing enough food to be able to have the cost of the goods be low enough. But if you are operating as smaller individual locations you are not able to get the bulk discounts since you are ordering for one location and not able to use the same type of chicken. You aren't getting the discount you get when you order a full pallet of chicken breasts as individual locations and that would cause the cost to make higher and thus less profit. Also if they franchise food locations they make less money since they are renting out the location versus running it. If the park runs the location they get all the profit and all the loss. But if they rent it out they only make money on the rent which would have to be less then how much the stands make or else it wouldn't be profitable for an outside person to come in and run it and that means the park loses the money they would get if they just ran it themselves. While it seems like a good idea on paper at the end of the day the park makes less money since they don't run the stand. The chain wants to make as much money as it possibly can so keeping food at the park level helps to bring in more revenue. -

I don’t see the divesting happening ever. Kings Island has a dedicated food warehouse and warehouse team and also an ordering team. If the park were to have outside vendors more shipments would show up requiring more warehouse workers to unload trucks/ more shifts that will need to be worked thus more labor hours. The park makes more money by keeping food in house. If you had third party vendors you would also probably have more shortages in product due to the fact that they wouldn’t have as much dedicated space to storage. -

Current Six could never bait and switch because expectations are already so low. It would be impossible for anyone to expect anything other than the bare minimum and even then they surprise me and somehow find ways to go below.

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
SmartCat7162 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
It is interesting to see this. I assume it is because the events didn't make enough or didn't break even. Its interesting that they cancelled the events but added other days in different places. I am guessing they are hoping people will show up later in the year and spend money in the park. Only time will tell if it works or not. -
Kings Island General Discussion 2025
SmartCat7162 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Not really because it is based off of individual park, so if Six Flags wanted too they could put all money into one park and it probably take home many different awards. I would bet that Dollywood probably has a larger budget than two smaller six parks combined. It’s not like anyone expected six to take home a bunch of awards. They already have so much debt at home they can‘t afford to put more into the parks. Also how many of the parks pre-merger were up to the standards to win an award probably like 10 out of 40. The golden ticket awards are good for advertising they don’t really mean much else. “We won the golden ticket award so buy a gold pass” -
We have had sushi before in the park. I remember trying it I think at the Brewhouse for the 50th celebration. I really liked it I guess it probably didn’t sell well. Fish and seafood has a stigma around it not being good because it is at an amusement park, but it is still super similar to any other meat especially with the supply chain that we have today so you don’t really have an increased chance of getting sick.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
SmartCat7162 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
The future of FUN is no longer looking that bright. It is going to be really hard to come back from this. Investors are ****ed and are looking into suing the company. If that happens more loses will ensue monetarily and debt will not be able to be repaid. The product quality has decreased for former CF Parks. But a few pre-merger six flags parks have had an increase in quality. That truly does show how far behind the pre-merger six flags parks were behind the CF parks. If parks do start to get sold I would love to see KI sold, but it is too much of a cash cow for them to probably sell. Things are not looking good especially with how they did haunt. They should have set the price of passes $30-$40 more and just had the mazes included with park admission. There is literally no point in giving away the gate. When things get so cheap people look down on it. That is the opposite of what they want to happen but they managed to achieve that. I do not really know what to say. I think at this point the company either needs to sell some parks immediately or just declare bankcruptcy. Investors have lost hope with the board and the only way to bring that hope back is to start fresh. At the end of the day I hope that I am proven wrong and that they make it out of this without having to sell parks or declare bankruptcy. What is the C-Suite actually doing on a daily basis this company is in free fall and someone has to take the reigns or else it is going to get away. I've spoken about being hopeful, but at this point in time it is hard to have that outlook. I really think selling parks is the way to go and that is what the company should be doing they need to find buyers. -
I feel like a lot of enthusiasts dislike the Six Flags corporation because they won’t work with Intamin, but I don’t blame the executives or whoever is choosing not to work with them. Intamin has had so many different opportunities to prove that they are a different brand and they are more competent now. Especially with quantum accelerator and Georgia gold rusher. Beyond the fact that both rides didn’t open on time which probably has more to do with the park they have still had problems. It just doesn’t make sense to work with a brand that can’t deliver and that has major downtime almost every single project. From what I’ve heard also the parts are hard to get and take forever so it makes sense to phase out rides that are expensive to maintain and don’t have spare parts on hand. While they may produce quality rides that are awesome to ride they just seem to be so maintenance heavy and always seem to have a lot of problems. While new rides usually have some problems they shouldn’t have to see extended downtime.

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
SmartCat7162 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I would assume so. From what I've seen it takes longer for them to put stuff in the online store. I think the online story is not their main focus, so stuff ends up on there when they get the chance. -
Not completely related, but sort of related to the flavor of blue. Has anyone tried the blue mousse that is sold in some parts of the park? If so how is it and would you recommend it?
-
Also usually permits do not need to be filed for smaller changes which makes the excitement more for me because it truly is not spoiled until a pov is released or you get to see it in person! I am super excited for the change no matter what of course I want it to be great, but no matter what it will be nice to have something new.

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
SmartCat7162 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I’ve been thinking, and I don’t know if we will see the 2026 family thrill attraction in 2026. I’m thinking that it has most likely been pushed due to the fact they announced season pass sales. However, no other park has announced anything for 2026 I believe besides great adventure pushing theirs to 2027. But I don’t know I could be wrong and this is all speculation. -
Grand Carivale 2025 Discussions and Reviews
SmartCat7162 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
I think the issue with the tasting card is that the price range for everything was so varied. I do feel like it is a miss that they don't bundle together the countries, like say you buy all the food in a bundle and it is $5 dollars off or bundle all the desserts together and make it so you get 25% off the cost of each individually. I just feel like it would be an easier pill to swallow and would entice sales.
