  1. I love SCarowinds but if I have to worry about questioning my safety, it makes me question going.
  2. That would only happen "in a perfect world", Carowinds has a large number of teen visitors that get dropped off.
  3. http://m.wsoctv.com/news/news/local/fight-involving-dozens-teen-breaks-out-scarowinds-/nnj6c/ I highly doubt this is a joking matter that other Carowinds Enthusiasts are taking it as on another site. I added another link, original link only said in parking lot. Edit: http://m.wbtv.com/wbtv/db_346301/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=Y26RUMwP
  4. My idea of a single rail coaster is a coaster track that is only wide enough to support the cars, with the cars hanging over the edge.
  5. Cedar Point South....err....Carowinds does this all day every day on Fury and Intimidator.
  6. Reithoffer Shows brings a smaller Pretzel Coaster(yes I call it a coaster, I watched it valley one day and it had to be man handled up the hill) but it is named "Mouse Trap", painted bright colors and not even darkness inside of the hairpins. It is kinda of a shame, videos I have seen of the Camden Park ride look way better than the Reithoffer one.
  7. I guess this fits here: Is the Kings Island Train Station a scaled down building to fit with the trains or is it a full size station?
  8. If your hands aren't on the grab bars, then you are in violation of park rules and in Ohio and South Carolina, state law. However how many visitors has Kings Island or Carowinds tossed out for this: Exactly Zero. Now for Filming and photos, Carowinds tries their hardest not use footage with hands off the grab bars.
  9. Leviathan isn't a gate coaster? I like Fury but Carowinds' new actual gate just makes the park look cheap and fair-ish. As compared to a Disney-ish Southern Plantation House, it is clear that Carowinds isn't a theme park but Rye Playland has a nice gate. Unless I am looking at the wrong structure.
  10. I am confused, do all amusement parks do have water treatment system? Is this drinking water, water for rides or just water for the lake? Does the park buy water from a water company, county or city?
  11. Ok, crazy thought. Let's say that Beast were to close forever, Am I the only one who thinks it would be left SBNO due to costs of demolition until they had a new use? My crazy thought is only because of how spread it the ride is and how far the ride is from the rest of the park.
  12. So why design The Beast that tall if braking is required so much?
  13. I am only going to say this one time..... Anything that requires "millions of dollars" worth of work at one time when a brand new version would cost $7 million is not well maintain not properly maintained. The rebuilds that Carowinds did were not the result of years of proper maintenance. Thunder Road was stripped of it's paint in the mid 90s and it was only recently that they started to use waterseal on the structure. I really hate to speak ill of Carowinds but maintenance is cheaper than restoration(rebuilding) of a structure, has Racer had LARGE sections of it's structure torn down to the footers and rebuilt?
  14. Just remember "Video Killed the Radio Star".
  15. Hmm, now that is an interesting statement. What are your thoughts on Dinn Corp wooden coasters?
  16. I dare say near nothing.
  17. Anything on wood winds up just being a patch
  18. So if the trains are removed, anyone think the park would donate or sell them to a museum or another park?
  19. I haven't been to Carowinds since July 26th, the day Thunder Road closed..... I have no desire to visit right now, the rest of the family wants to go but they will be going without me.
  20. I doubt he wood stand for it if it meant his job either.
  21. I hope not Racer too.
  22. http://www.ride-extravaganza.com/intermediate/rok-n-rol/ A very short history of the type of ride.
  23. By the time I worked there in 2005, Thunder Road was inspected by South Carolina only and Goldrusher(the real first coaster to cross the state line) was inspected by North Carolina only. The determining factor by then was which state the Station building is in.
  24. Thunder Road's will be heading to the nearest junkyard that will take it. I had a blast last night, Mike Fehnel, the Rides Dept. and the crew did an excellent job at making Thunder Road's last night special. Goodbye old friend,
  25. Forgive me but what about American Eagle? Last weekend for Thunder Road, I can't promise I won't cry on my last rides. I really wish history meant more to more Carowinds visitors. I also wish I had requested Thunder Road instead of Hurler when I worked at Carowinds in 2006. Time marches on..
