  1. I have never seen a water slide with an elevator.Nevermind, I missed a post. However even those slides I have never one with an elevator but the only ones I have seen are at Fair's.
  2. Be glad Racer is go where near the waterpark.
  3. I hope you are referring to Dinosaurs and not Racer, but if it's younger sister isn't off limits for the future. I suspect Racer isn't either. 2017-2019 Giga Coaster replacing Racer?
  4. Rides for Paramount....hmm Cedar Fair has only brought one new video for their Action Theaters. Paramount (Parks) doesn't exist anymore unless he is referring to the new parks but last I heard one of them have gotten very far.
  5. Given the history, complicated lease agreement, tax incentives and all the known factors. Without having seen the area around the park ever in person, I believe it could go two ways. Closure due to loss of State Support or Mismanagement by Underinvestment, as evidence of this: T3, Rides leased for 1 year(this to me was done to minimize loss if the park has last year(I may be confused on this)), Bad PR, Strange advertising practices. Or Sell by Hart & Co in a similar fashion to mide to late 90s. In my opinion, he is in the business for one reason. Buy low & Flip for profit! Either way I feel that History will repeat itself. As an Amusement Park Enthusiast, I find it fun to anazyle park's futures.
  6. Hard Rock Park failed for several reasons including: Location - They were smart for the location off of US501 but it was too far inland. It should have been closer to the beach. Price - For the number of attractions the park had, they were originally charging Carowinds prices or higher. Family Kingdom is Pay per Ride or wristband as was the Myrtle Beach Pavilion(c1948-2006). Freestyle ending up having to charge $17.76 for two people to get visitors to come, the problem with that is they were selling tickets below costs. Theme - The majority of beach going tourists are families, Hard Rock Park was basically an adult theme park with limited options for children. Adult humor was everywhere, all of which was removed when the park became Freestyle. Economy - I dare say this was the second biggest factor. I predicted the failure of Hard Rock Park from nearly the start of it.
  7. I wish these types of rides would make a comeback.
  8. Rough year for amusement park industry. I am unfamiliar with color runs and such. What exactly is this powder used for?
  9. Oh darn, I thought this was about a new Tomb Raider movie.
  10. He'd probably want Thunder Road instead.Being as Thunder Road is my third favorite coaster, you are correct. In my dreams, I would replace Carowinds Boomerang Bay with an Intamin launch coaster with a jungle theme. Don't worry BB1, in my dreams I would move Boomerang Bay further from Carowinds and retain the theme. I even like KI's concept of connecting the park's by train so I think I will dream that too for Carowinds. KI has the best setup for water/amusement park combo I have ever seen, the two parks are one price but a good distance from each other. To be fair, a lot people are saying Thunder Road should be bulldozed.
  11. Yes, atleast one. If ya'l want it, please by all means take it. I would rather Boomerang Bay be bulldozed.
  12. Was the rule ever that you couldn't leave the parking lot and come back in the same day?
  13. There has always been maintenance roads under Thunder Road in similar locations to Racer.
  14. I was told by a former Carowinds PR rep(worked over Paramount and Cedar Fair) that the parks have no choice of new attractions, Cedar Fair Corporate chooses who gets what. He also told me that Paramount would lay out options for the whole chain based on budgets and the parks made the ultimate decision based on the up to five options given. Paramount was also open to input from the parks themselves. Example: Carowinds had at least two options for 2006. Boomerang Bay Expansion or Italian Job Stunt Coaster. For 2007, Carowinds had chosen Flight of Fear from Kings Dominion to replace the Carolina Cyclone. Cedar Fair over ruled the park and Flight of Fear stayed at KD, Cyclone still operates today and in 2007 we got a ride reinstalled from the Carowinds Boneyard.
  15. Teething problems? What would have teeth other than the anti-rollbacks?
  16. Very true, makes me wonder if he even knows what Cedar Fair is going to or if would rather maintain the status quo while his hands are making decisions contary to what he tells enthusiasts. Not one of my favorite park GMs, not commenting at all is better than outright telling people what they want to hear. I dare believe he is just responsible for park operations and has little to nothing to do with capital improvement decisions other than marketing and such.
  17. Carowinds General Manager Mike Fenhel says Vortex will not be converted. The coaster still to popular.
  18. Never rode a Rotor, but I think it is similar to a Gravitron ride. It sounds like fun getting "rinsed".
  19. ^I am sure he was, which begs the question why was he in such an area with the ride running when lock out tag out is required to enter the area.
  20. Waterpark expansion confirmed, possible and most likely a gate to the waterpark. Darn that waterpark, it costed us a Swartzkopf shuttle loop and now Thunder Road. May the demise of Thunder Road cast a curse on Soak City.
  21. Well there is the problem, Duke Energy! Even down here in the South the system is prone to downtime.
  22. On a positive note, she can still "walk" away. However it could gracious of Merlin Enterainment to ensure she would walk away. ("Walk" in quotations meaning lived thought a terrible accident, I would like to see Merlin Enterainment voluntary step up and do what is need to ensure the young lady can walk again. My original statement was apparently deemed offensive on another forum however I see it as a well wish.)
  23. My daughter has been going to waterparks since she born(actually while her mother was pregnant) so she had an early start but when she was 18 months, we went down the kiddy slides with her until she was big enough to do it herself. Once she was big enough for bigger slides, she went on her own.
  24. ^Hence why RCDB contradicts my belief. I looked up the capacity numbers first and i was shocked to see how high they are. Does KI use both Firehawk stations, I read somewhere that they only use one. SFOG was only using one station when I went so I assume that knocks the capacity down whereas the other B&M flyers don't have the same station design.
