Hmmm, I thought KI owned that.... You are correct, Kings Island does own that circled area of land. Also, they won't build a coaster or any ride back there. Flight Deck's queue goes far back enough and that terrain of the circled area has a massive elevation change that wouldn't be friendly or convenient for park guests. I don't think it is a good idea, but the "warning" signs we see seem to be making a reference to SOB. I don't think retracking or retrofitting the ride was an option, or they would have done it. I think the problems it had would have continued so they just dismantled it. SOB wasn't a bad idea or a bad coaster, it appears it wasn't installed properly. Redoing it perhaps with a couple new wrinkles isn't going to result in a bad coaster. With all the work, rework and troubleshooting they were forced to do with SOB, if they were to rebuild it, i would think they would have it all worked out already.Personally, I'd like to see a 311' 94 mph Leviathan type coaster, but right now what I see doesn't lead me in that direction. It's extremely early on in the process, but it's fun to let your imagination go and think of what might be. They're not going to "remake" Son of Beast. Put it this way, if the first incarnation was good - they would've kept it and not spent a lot of money tearing it down. Also they did try re-tracking and retrofitting it multiple times. Did it get any better? No, ultimately the park wasn't "satisfied with the ride's performance." Also, what manufacturer would be interested in putting their product on that ride? There's a reason it had used, modified gerstlauer trains and not new ones manufactured. The ride is dead, the ride sucked, the end.

Boddah, Dane and I had them at the media preview. Those two didn't care for them, but I ate way more than a healthy amount. They were my favorite thing.

I'll tell you what. I was pretty skeptical of how the park would execute a full service restaurant, but truthfully I was blown away. Seriously, they nailed this. The whole theme and motif of the place is indicative of the hall of fame downtown. There's a full service bar, the patio is great and there's no shortage of televisions. One of the best parts is that each table has a historical Reds photo on the table. I thought this one was a nice touch, note the Coney Island advertisement on the outfield wall: All in all, the best part about the place isn't just that its a new dining option or that it's a really good dining option - it's local. I love that the park this year has focused on its Cincinnati roots. Out of town visitors can really see the tradition and pride that people put in the Reds organization. The historical items are n attraction in their own. Also, yeah... those ribs... I still have a stomach ache.

Cavern of Terror has an elevator lift for guests requiring a wheel chair as well as wheel chair accessible exits throughout the attraction. The other "floors" are just catwalks.

Thanks for posting how Cedar Point's works. KI's is very different operation wise mainly just because of the variations on how the different ride's physical lines were built - none of which were originally built with Fast Lane in line. Your comments point out two major points to me: 1) The way in which FL users are integrated and 2) The angry "regular" patron. Both are examples of how poorly operated and executed this "Fast Lane" system has been. Wristbands and keeping the lines together is nothing but a cheap move. I'm surprises Ouimet allowed it, let alone KI management.

Thank you. I'm surprised more people don't bring up the Six Flags system. Comparing Fast Lane to Disney is irrelevant, apples to oranges. Larger corporation with more capital who takes time to invest in doing things right the first time compared to regional company that changes on the fly. Fast Lane isn't an issue, it's here to stay and won't be gone anytime soon. Not to mention, the park had a perk like this before. It's not "unfair," it's a tiered experience like the ones found at nearly any other entertainment venue. The problem with Fast Lane is not its concept, but its execution. The system is operated horribly and sub par compared to industry standards. It's sad when Six Flags is doing something better than you. Wrist bands, unlimited rides and their lax policy on "capping" sales to keep impact down are all part of the problem. Then again, why cap Fast Lane purchases when you can just say you do while spending very little to operate a system you're immensely profiting on? One of the biggest dissappointments with Matt Ouimet is that he allows a system such as Fast Lane in its current state to exist. It could be operated so much better while delivering better value to those who purchase it and those who chose not to.

Even if closing GL was their vast conspiracy plan the whole time (which, if so, why did they even bother rebranding and operating it for a few years? Wouldn't a diabolical plot dictate that they'd just close it down when they bought it?), your argument doesn't hold up regarding Kings Island. Crypt was a mechanical and operational nightmare that operated infrequently ever since Paramount installed the darn thing. Both PP and CF tried solutions, eventually CF cut their losses. The ride was providing no benefit. Flight Deck, Vortex and AE being on their last legs? How would you know that? Give me a freaking break, cause you rode them and they're as rough and bumpy as other Arrow coasters from their time periods? Also, comparing Racer to Raging Wolf Bobs is a joke, right? RWB suffered a derailment accident prior to GL's closing while The Racer has continued with good operating in recent years and receives substantial upkeep and vigilant safety oversight. You simply have no idea what you're talking about. If CF wanted to eliminate a competitor, they wouldn't do it at the expense of sacrificing guest safety and hurting their own brand image.

Lot of "ifs" in those sentences. Water park attractions are very complex machines that require upkeep and maintenance and generally aren't meant to store runoff and rain water for several years. You're assuming that what you saw was a water park inspection and assuming that you're correct then somehow they must be "wrapping up" ride inspections? And why should we expect tax incentive news in two to three weeks, has that been reported somewhere? Vague speculations. I await some words from Mr. Hart.

Interesting considering they don't seem to know what they'll be hiring for. Do they just need lifeguards? We'll see toward the end of the year won't we? I think we'll see towards the end of April when the 90 day back out period ends. Either Hart will have the financing or he won't. I would assume in order to secure that financing he has to give specific details to anyone who's going to give him money. I figure, if that happens, we'll finally have some details on exactly what is opening and when.

Wait, is this actually "full service?" As in you sit down, a waiter serves you, you tip them at the end and so forth? In the past, the buffet was billed as "full service," hence why I ask. It'll be interesting to see how the wait staff, if there is one, compares to the "service" found in the Foods Department in previous years.

I could go through point by point and refute it, but I'll leave it at this: You're that upset that there are people rightfully skeptical of Hart's plan that you want to divert the topic to a debate on a public transit project in the city of Cincinnati? And what's apparently slowing down Hart is that he's not bribing the right people in a vast Frankfort political conspiracy? I'd say it's that no one wants to invest in his project and he doesn't have his own capital whereas Holiday World did... and even they backed out.
