'Mark this forum as read' button
Oldiesmann replied to Pagoda Gift Shop's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
The "mark all items as read" link still shows up just fine for me in Chrome. -
Even with a rooted phone, it is ultimately up to the application developer. I have run into apps before which are "copy-protected" and thereby do not allow me to move them to the SD card. Do you not see a "Move to SD Card" option for that app? The application's permissions indicate that you should be able to move it to the SD Card. StumbleUpon specifically says that the "Modify/Delete SD Card Contents" permission is what allows you to move their app to the card. I would also recommend contacting the application developers about it at http://www.wddonline.com/public/services/mobile_application_development/MyPark.cfm. Maybe they can help you out.

I am going to the Weird Al concert this Sunday at Riverbend, and am planning to hit Coney before then. What do I do about parking in this situation? I've never been to a concert at Riverbend before and have only been to Coney once in the past couple of years (for Balloon Glow in 2009).

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Oldiesmann replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
If you want to use the embed code from Youtube, go to the full reply box, click "Click to configure post options" and choose "HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode" from the dropdown list. Alternately you can just paste the URL and the forum will automatically embed it for you. -
'Mark this forum as read' button
Oldiesmann replied to Pagoda Gift Shop's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
The "(Mark This Forum As Read)" text and link show up just fine for me in Google Chrome (version 13.0.772.0 dev-m on Windows 7 64-bit if that makes any difference). -
More details at http://market.android.com/details?id=com.wddonline.myParkKingsIsland or by scanning the QR code above with your phone. What happens when you try to move it to the SD card? Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications Scroll down and tap Kings Island MyPark Tap the "Move to SD Card" button I do have a rooted phone, but I don't see how that would make any difference as long as you have Android 2.2 or higher (the option was not available prior to Android 2.2)

Dinosaurs is Coming to Life!

Cincinnati.com has a nice photo gallery of DA... Photos: Dinosaurs Alive! -
http://www.derfmagazine.com/news/politics/kings-island-mallory-bumper-car--rides I don't know if this is a joke or if the park is serious about this, but it's still funny. (Note: For those not familiar with the whole "car allowance" thing, see http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_news/car-%26-health-premium-payments-stopped-for-cincinnati-mayor-).

WindSeeker isn't open yet, so nobody has ridden it yet. You can get a good idea of how it works by looking at the computer-animated concept video of the ride on the park's website. The park has stated that the ride will be 3 minutes long. It is not yet known how long the up/down trips will be.

What are your Park Plans for this Summer?
Oldiesmann replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in Kings Island
Only real plans for me at the moment: June 21st - Coney Island's 125th anniversary July 3rd - Coney Island (Balloon Glow) July 28th - Beech Bend (on my way to Nashville) July 31st - Lake Winnie? (depending on weather, gas prices and what time I get out of Nashville) August 14th - Stricker's Grove (Family Day) September 5th - Stricker's Grove (Labor Day) October 9th - Stricker's Grove (Customer Appreciation Day) October 30th - KI closing day (depending on weather of course) Depending on how things go, I might also hit Camden Park again this year. -
Dollywood's new ride Barnstormer
Oldiesmann replied to normal's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm guessing that the "Free Barnstormer Rides" banner is part of the theming. According to Wikipedia, "Barnstorming was a popular form of entertainment in the 1920s in which stunt pilots would perform tricks with airplanes, either individually or in groups called a flying circus.". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnstorming for more details. -

I would restore the area to have much more of a German feel, like it did originally... Restore the clock on FestHaus Get rid of Larosas and Panda King, replacing the with Bavarian (or general German) food Get rid of the country music shows, the American beer signs, etc. and replace them with German-themed shows and German beers Change Outer Hanks into more of a beer garden with specialty foods, a much larger selection of German beers, lagers, etc. One only has to see how popular Newport's Hofbrauhaus is on the weekends to realize how popular such a thing would be at KI, especially since the only German restaurant in that area (the old Black Forest restaurant on 42 about 3 miles north of I-275) closed years ago. It would be a great experience for locals and tourists alike - celebrating the area's rich German heritage and providing them with an experience that you wouldn't easily find elsewhere.

They'd still have to find a way to get that information to the end user. While many of the rides have computers to track safety systems, etc., they'd need a way to pull the wait time from each ride to a master server that would in turn send the info to the internet. It wouldn't be an easy task in my opinion.
-
How would the park be able to get more accurate data? The ride ops are already fairly busy as it is, and there's no guarantee that they'll be able to estimate the wait time any better than the average guest could. In addition, I've often noticed that the "estimated wait time" signs outside the entrance to some major attractions aren't always accurate either (though the one at Diamondback seems to be pretty accurate since there's always an employee sitting out there that can change it as needed).

What version of Android do you have? Some apps are not available for eclair, but are for froyo or gingerbread. I have the Motoralla Citrus. If you go to Settings -> About phone, what does it say for "Android Version"? It could be that you have an older version of Android (such as 1.5) which isn't supported anymore.

If you want wait times, get Ridehopper...

I don't think KI has announced this at all, as I never heard of it before this topic was posted. I do agree that having food prices and descriptions would be nice. It would also be nice if the "feedback" section actually let you send feedback to the park and/or its developers. Haven't used it at KI yet, but spent some time playing with it last night. Looks like a lot of fun! If it's showing "page not found" or something similar when you scan the code, that means the app isn't available for your phone.

Glad you finally got this posted. Can't wait for WindSeeker to open!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Oldiesmann replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
It is not open to the public yet. If it were, the park would have announced it. The only "people" on it would be the water dummies. -
Every 3D movie I've been to has a box at the exit allowing you to recycle your glasses. Furthermore, it makes absolutely no sense to keep your glasses, as you still have to pay extra for 3D movies regardless of whether or not you have your own glasses. I doubt that KI will let you keep the more expensive 3D glasses. If the upcharge were for the glasses, they'd let you in for free if you already had glasses.

I haven't tried yet, but judging by the permissions it requires, I'd say it can: More details at http://market.android.com/details?id=com.wddonline.myParkKingsIsland or by scanning the QR code above with your phone.

I'm probably one of the few here who feels this way, but I actually enjoyed Spongebob. It was a fun film and a great way to get out of the heat for a few minutes on those hot summer days.
-
RideHopper is mostly focused on tracking and reporting wait times for rides. It also lets you view and report show times. It does not have information about food options, a park map or park news. The MyPark app has more features.

I pointed that out a few posts ago Has the park announced this anywhere? I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere prior to this post.
