  1. I'm sure there are plenty of "top roller coasters" lists around the net, but it's always fun to discuss them either way... http://www.huffingto..._n_1522503.html My thoughts:
  2. I've actually been twice, but it didn't count my visit from opening day, so here's where I'm at: Total visits: 1 Level: One Star Rewards available: two Free Drink Wristband certificates I spent about $12.98 at the park when I was there on Wednesday (one burrito and a $5 Sling Shot certificate) I'll check again after my next visit (probably this Wednesday, depending on the weather) and see if it gives me any additional rewards. I would assume the Sling Shot ticket counts towards Fun Perks rewards, as the ride op asked me if I had Fun Perks before he scanned my pass.
  3. I sincerely doubt we'll see all the volleyball courts occupied at all times every weekend from June 16th to August 19th. There are literally dozens (if not hundreds) of sand volleyball courts in the Cincinnati area, so there are plenty of options available for those interested in the sport who want to play in a league. I imagine the park is trying to keep things flexible for those who are interested,
  4. I think the best option for KI at this point would be to go ahead and order the necessary parts. That way they'll have them on hand (or at least on the way) when the parts do eventually go out.
  5. http://www.tapatalk.com In short, it allows you to browse/post on forums from your Android, Blackberry or iOS device. It's free for forum admins (you have to install a plugin for it to work with your forum) and $2.99 for users.
  6. Simple. Ask guests for their ZIP Codes when they purchase parking/admission.
  7. Nope, not this year. Not really surprising though since the water park is no longer Australian-themed. I'm not sure if that's still part of the soundtrack this year, but since there wasn't a stop at the water park, there may be another song in there that we didn't hear this time.
  8. The train soundtrack has changed this year. Here are the songs that they played when I rode it earlier: "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" by Hugo Montenegro "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys "Wild Wild West" by Will Smith "Theme From Bonanza"
  9. Today was definitely a 1/5. Pretty much a "perfect" day at KI. We zipped through Action Zone in less than 2 hours, riding everything except for Skyflyer, Congo Falls and the race cars.
  10. By who? StormReady is a program of the National Weather Service. See http://www.stormready.noaa.gov/ for more info.
  11. Here's a front seat POV of the original ride, with loop... And, for comparison, a POV of the ride after the loop was removed
  12. I saved the PDF to the desktop on my laptop so I could print it off later when I wanted to use it. You may have to contact them to get another one if you didn't print it off right away.
  13. One also has to wonder if the Coney Island of 1971 could have survived the 1997 flood, when the river crested at 64.7 feet - nearly 13 feet above flood stage (and, by comparison, almost 27 feet above its current level).
  14. Now it's just showing the default IIS (Internet Information Services - Microsoft's web server application) page. The focusmark link worked fine for me, and I've claimed my free drink wristband certificate, which I will probably save for those hot summer days.
  15. The first drop and the loop were my favorite parts. In its original form, SOB was a must-ride for me on every visit to the park. After the loop-ectomy and the replacement of the trains, I rode it exactly once (ironically just a few months before it closed), and didn't like the experience nearly as much, mainly due to the way the trains shuffled on the track.
  16. Interesting that the CEO is now saying that she "hopes to stay on with the company". I wonder what happened to that big bonus she was supposed to get if they fired her? Will be quite interesting to see where things go from here. Hopefully this works out well.
  17. There's also one in the rides/maintenance shop behind Surf Dog.
  18. According to this video, it's WE-mit.
  19. You two have too much time on your hands...
  20. It's about the same size as what you'd get at Penn Station. Not as good, but still well worth the price in my opinion.
  21. On opening day it was well-enforced - you had to show your FP wristbands in order to get into the line after you'd walked through the queue. I even saw two people walking back out of the FP queue at DB, saying something about the single rider line (apparently they can't read).
  22. My dad had a book on solving the thing (The Simple Solution to Rubik's Cube by James G. Nourse - long out of print, but available on Amazon really cheap), so I often solved it that way, but I can definitely recall peeling the stickers off or taking it apart and re-assembling it to solve it as well. For me though, it was more fun either messing it up and seeing how long it took my dad to solve it, or making silly patterns with it (crosses, stripes, checkerboard, etc.).
  23. And yet the Giant Top Spin is still listed on Huss' website. What's strange is why Paramount/CBS/Viacom (whoever owned the park at the time the decision was made) would choose an unproven concept model over a reliable and well-proven actual model when the capacity of the giant model really isn't that much better than that of the standard model. Capacities for both, from Huss' website (which of course means they're nowhere near realistic): Giant - 900 people per hour Regular - 855 people per hour In a perfect world where you actually hit the stated capacity, that's only an extra 540 people per 12-hour operating day.
  24. If only I lived closer to Atlanta. Would be a lot of fun!
  25. Found this on Screamscape. Apparently on Good Friday, two brothers were out riding their bikes when they came across an open gate at Canada's Wonderland. Rather than ignore it or inform the park, they decided to take a nice 6-minute joyride through the closed park, surprisingly without being approached by security or other park officials. However, one person did comment on the video saying that he "lost his job" because of them, so I'm guessing the park has taken measures to ensure that this won't happen again...
