Major Update to the Kings Island Chaperone Policy
guy1115 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Me too. My mom worked in the employee cafeteria for years, and there would be many a days that I spent in the waterpark and the park alone, while she was working. It was great, and I also knew that I better not screw it up. That seems to be missing with some today. -
EnterTRAINment Junction for sale
guy1115 replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Except maybe more people coming consistently? Steady growth in attendance may help attract a buyer? -
Didn't say they were Broadway caliber shows, but through Paramount ages, those were the highlights.
-
School of Rock and Magic of The Movies were probably the best two shows of the last few years of Paramount. But the cuts in that department in the early 2000s were rough. And after being built up to the apex in the past few seasons, its sad to see what they are doing to all of the parks entertainment.
-
Remind me.....who was running Paramount Parks when CF acquired them? And how was the entertainment then? History seems to have a way of repeating itself when the same people are at top.

This wouldn't surprise me. That was a fully contracted show with an outside vendor, though they also provided talent for other shows (Tree Lighting, Parade, etc), and I know KI had nothing but problems with their trolley.

Camp Snoopy Arrives in 2024 at Kings Island
guy1115 replied to RedSummit20's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
My first job at PKI. Can't even begin to tell how many whipped cream pies and gallons of slime I made there. Sad to see the final remnant of the Gak Kitchen and Slime Truck disappear. -
The bakery that resided on International Street for years and years is the food stand I still miss the most. They HUGE cinnamon rolls and elephant ears they used to sell were a must buy when we were in the park. I always hoped that it would make a return and include some foods seen in the French restaurant now, or bread bowl soups in the spring and fall.

I still don't get this. GWL and the Zoo both operate on 1/1....and they are both under the same control of the state. This really seems like something that should be able to be worked out. Plus they lost 1-2 days of revenue with the way the holiday hit this year.
-
You would think there mechanism in place for this already with the state. Think of the zoos that have trains and carousels, and hotels, such as GWL, with water attractions. I simply can't understand why they don't go through the first week of the new year, especially since they are missing 2 ideal days that people are off this year (1/1 + 1/2).

That area has been there for years. Yes, it was used for picnics, and then was expanded years ago to be a warm up area for the cheerleading and dance competitions that the park held every labor day weekend. At some point it became storage for Haunt and WF props and also bike racks as mentioned. They may be clearing more areas, but it was there the entire time I worked for the park from 96-07.

There is a public elevator in the lobby of the restaurant. It was added a few years back.

Hollywoodland to come to Middletown?

An update.... https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/i-team/citizen-research-how-two-middletown-moms-helped-derail-a-1-3b-project?fbclid=IwAR29q5GSyOPc49zHwQX-GgEF5BCvrzRq2csnrJ_MFY5Z4UTnGhNxLnCotQE -
I have to admit that I haven't been to the park this season to purchase anything quite yet, but how is this working? Especially with speed. I have visited 6 MLB parks this summer, all with cashless, and the time required to finish a simple transaction for something simple like a beer or lemon chill feels like it has increased dramatically. In fact in one ballpark, the vendor had to go as far as to hold the device over his head, seemingly to get connection. It's tough. I want to love this, but infrastructure has to be increased to make the customer experience better. Just my 2 cents.

I wonder sometimes why they don't go back and use a few Paramount tricks for things like this. Years ago they used to recruit retirees and stay at home parents to work the first two full weeks of the season and the last two full weeks of the season. If I remember correctly, I believe they even gave them a season pass along with a paycheck. Or, back when I was there, they took associates from other departments to work rides on Math and Science days. They were quickly trained for some of the easier positions. It was actually a nice change of pace to work rides a couple days a year.

It was also a Skip's deli and a few other things. However, I do believe Sklyine was in that location during a few years of Winterfest in the 80's

It's likely the right timing, especially for areas that may be used as part of Haunt. Remember the candy cane trusses go up for Haunt.

I didn't see this posted anywhere, and I only looked a few pages back, so pardon me if it is a repeat. Some current and alum members of the Live Entertainment department pulled together a pretty cool message for everyone that enjoys their shows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUULP1Pm7Bw&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR1zRgxrrXiU8Ph4fKq7NGtd4oSqtQ0WZqDF-Wth1WFXsXlobWc8uXIA1as

So we are packing up for a weekend at Cedar Point soon. Half of us going have Platinum Passes, the other half will be buying tickets with our hotel stay. Here is the question that I hope someone can help with. 1) Their website offers a package with a FL+, Drink Package, Meal Package For The Day, and Fun Pix For the day for about $10 more than the current daily price on the FL+. Considering buying a couple to help with lines and meals for those that don't have season passes. Anyone know if they are different bands for the meals vs FL+? One person that would need the meal plan wouldn't be using the FL+, but one kid who would use the FL+ doesn't need to meal. I realize I am trying to save a few bucks by being "creative" with their packages, just not sure it would work that way. Question 2) If we renew at CP and take advantage of the free FL+ for our second day there, can we hand a band to one of the riders that isn't a passholder?

We are currently on the 2nd leg of our vacation in Bradenton FL. We find ourselves with a free day this coming up Saturday. We are considering a trip to USF for the day, as our daughter is dying to see Harry Potter world. Question for the group, how successful could we be in seeing as much as possible with a 2-park express ticket on the first week of August. I get concerned shelling out that type of cash and not getting to see as much as possible. Never having an express pass there, I am not sure what to expect. Any help is appreciated.

Parade at KD is 8 as well, if I am not mistaken. However, the sunset is about 40 min earlier than Cincinnati there.

There are 9 floats. I think the weather and possibly some mechanical issues kept them out at least one night. However they all made the run I saw last night.

In the late 90's and early 2000's that theatre played a few different Scooby shows and even a Jetson Show. While the names have escaped my memory at this point, I do remember that one was themed to Scooby's birthday celebration. These shows in particular used to rewrite lyrics to songs to fit the show. I can distinctly remember versions of Mmmbop (Moon Bop (Jetsons Show)), Celebration, and Talking About My Generation. It also used to hold shows for the original kids Halloween event, including a Beetlejuice magic show. I believe the theatre was closed somewhere between 2004-2006, but I don't remember exactly when.
