Great trip report Brad I really enjoyed seeing the kids in this one. Hope to see you sometime soon.

Will be interesting to see the developments over the next few years. I do not mind paying the price for onsite accommodations but they need to be up to par otherwise it leaves me with the impression on what and where else are they letting things get neglected and outdated. Basically Image is important. I believe the right person is in charge to get the price point right with the guest expectation on different price levels.

jcgoble I hope you are hungry the deluxe plan is a lot of food but it is good food. I will try to call you here in a bit to make some suggestions. first thing though 3 sit down meals a day is tough so I would recomend to do one /breakfast/Lunch at a decent sit down place either late breakfast or early lunch then reserve a signature restaurant for that evening. Signature eat up two credits so you would still use 3 credits for that day but used in two meals. The signature places will wow you and be so worth it Not saying do that everyday but if I did deluxe that would be how I would do most days.

Phenomenal trip report Standbyme!!! I love how you started the day with pictures all the way through to the end. Somehow we missed you at the end of the event so we all could catch a few rides together and talk as a group in line. You are an asset to the community and so glad you travailed so far to for such a worth while cause and meet-up opportunity. Thanks for such a quality report and the time to make it so much fun to read!!!!

I had an enjoyable day with family and friends visiting Kings Island on their opening day. As part of that day and a guest who enjoys Kings Island entertainment I took in the 5PM show of British Invasion. I had not seen Ryan's review of the show until just now and I'm surprised to see so many aspects of the show Ryan pointed out to be very similar to what I had noticed about the show. The very colorful lights set a concert like tone at times which was a big part of the Invasion back in the days. The costuming back then especially from Elton John helped set fashion trends and it was very enjoyable to see that attention to detail brought into this show as the British fashion trends were just as much a part of the British Invasion era as the music was. About half way through a new show i tend to start to watch the crowd to see their reaction to the show. British Invasion seemed to hold the attention of most guest from the young to the older guests who seemed to appreciate the the attention to detail. I noticed several groups of guest swaying and bopping to the tunes while they watched the show. My personal review is one of relief as guests at Kings Island we have gotten used to good quality musical shows playing in the Fest Haus while we dinned or came just for the show and British Invasion surely lives up to high quality of entertainment that we have gotten used too these past several years. The song selections, lighting, costuming and casting is very well done and enjoyable. The only lower grade I could give to the show is the ending, the song Saturday Night's Alright was a good high energy song to finish with so that was not the problem but when the show ends the cast is in various areas of the stage then the audience sits there still watching as an announcement is broadcast thanking everyone for coming. I feel the show could end better in a way that the audience knows that show just ended so they know when to get up to clap or cheer to show their approval of the show. I do not mean to take away from the show in anyway but it was just an awkward way to end it and the reaction of the guests in the theater backs me up here. In conclusion I would highly recommend everyone to take the time to enjoy another quality and well rehearsed performance brought to use from a magnificent entertainment department. I give this show 4.5 stars out of 5 well worth incorporating in my families day of fun at Kings Island.

Kings Island`s Racer Celebrates `Four Decades of Thrills'
Avatar replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island
I can not imagin it because I remember it well!!! -
I am sure Cedar Fair test in all the parks when the oppernunity is best for a certain park as different parks offer a different business model. I agree Kings Island has great strong people in all areas of the park to not to only test something new but to implement it well, such as Dinosaurs Alive and Fast Lane.

Thanks jcgoble3 Topic is now closed

Please note; You can now renew ALL season pass types on Kings Island website site. Happy renewing, see you all soon!!!
-
(emphasis added) I must admit that I am surprised by your generalization. Honestly I was generalizing more due to other Cedar Fair parks implementing the new system this year, do they are going through much of the same as we did last year. Bottom line for me I appreciate a fast line type of system for guests who may need them for their own purpose to enhance their park experience. But have said that I do worry about the current system in that it has proteintial to be abused.
-
The thing is if they started with a system like that, the ones who are complaining about the current system now would still complain with the same vigor no matter what system the went with. Who's to say they start the season with this basic system to absorb the new ride line areas, then next season go with another complex system that cost the park more to operate. This way they keep the cost balanced for the first year going into effect. The guests who may not like the system may embrace a different system the following year versuses them hating it from the start.

Great interview style I enjoy getting to know the people who run things around KI a little better.
-
To expand here they could charge $1.00 for adults to weed out some of the crowd then offer them to use their ticket stub to get a $1 off DA admission.
-
Great find Standbyme, thanks for sharing.

Edit. The front page is linked to a news feed so it does not allow for HTML in the first post for either a picture or to link to another page/site. The past several post to that forum has had HTML's in those post. So nothing is wrong that needs fixed other than to make sure HTML/links are not in the first post.

Ryan & Ronny's Nice Sit Down Restaurant: The Show to Debut
Avatar replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Sounds like fun, I always enjoy hearing about old stories told by the people who experienced them first hand. Note to self: take a nap next Tuesday after work. -
Good post McSalsa. Of course i would just be speculating as well but I would pretty much rule out KI in that mix as it seems the park is focusing on a whole family experience for now and I see that trend continuing for a couple years. So I figure KI will get more flat rides and other type rides families can do together.

Good for you CoastersRZ in going. My family saw them a few years ago and we really enjoyed ourselves. I mean it was not the most exciting or best concert we have attended but the atmosphere was laid back and fun. I think if one goes with family or friends and just goes to enjoy the experience then they will have fun but if they go to be a critic they will be disappointed. When we saw them one of the band members had their niece there and introduced her, asked the audience if they would mind if she sang one of the songs as her first concert performance. Of course everyone encouraged it and gave her a standing ovation when she was done. It was just a fun show and I am glad we took the time to go. Enjoy yourself.

The Beach Closing after 27 Years
Avatar replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It is sad that 2012 pass holders may not be getting a refund of any type but it maybe and mostly likely is completely out of there hands to do so. When a business goes out it can be for many reasons including a combination of all 4 reasons suggested above or none of those. They may have had their assets including bank accounts frozen due to being sued from vendors looking to be paid. I know from what i have seen from this point if I had paid for a 2012 season pass I would not be expecting to see a refund. As sad as it is not much worth while can be done in getting a refund of any type anytime soon. I really hate it for families. The thing is it is not uncommon to see other similar business to step up to help fill a void for potential customers. You see this with airlines and fitness centers a lot. It works for another business to do so to try to get a new appreciative customer, but it also helps to protect the industry versus seeing a customer go away and not trusting the industry to never return.
