  1. Yikes. Not a big fan of the logo or name "upgrade." Very "meh" about the other imporovrments as well. It just seems kind of off to me. I can't really put my finger on it.
  2. They originally had planned to do a holiday overlay for Scooby in Winterfest '05. Never came to be. I would love to see some kind of work done on Boo Blasters for this incarnation.
  3. Absolutely love that book. What a treasure.
  4. I guess Six Flags? Maybe Sea World? Whenever the groundwork was laid for the parks over expansion. But I guess I wouldn't consider that negative attention, just poor decision making. As far as the actual negative attention, that goes to the Dick at Cedar Fair who handled the parks closure very, very poorly. It was obvious that a park that size couldn't draw a crowd for a park, well... of it's eventual size. With rumors swirling about the parks closure and rides being ripped out and relocated (Hi, Firehawk), it's disturbing now to look back and see how much these claims were venomously denied. Up until GL's final day of operation. And then it was announced that it would reopen the following season as a waterpark only. Woo. Hoo. This left people with a sense of confusion and betrayal because, well, from a certain perspective it looked as though Cedar Fair bought the park with the intention of closing it. This may or may not be true. We may never know. But certainly the general attitude from Cedar Fair gave that impression. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjz9IY5eP84 "Bake sales and Car Washes"...? Salt in the wounds, dude. Was that necessary? Yes, I know this guy is no longer alive. So this isn't a time to talk bad about him, but I feel like that entire video is a perfect metaphor for how poorly the entire closure was handled. There were a number of different aspects that one could say led to the parks demise. For me, I'd venture to say that It just got too big for it's britches, so to speak. Is that Cedar Fair's fault? Probably not. I'd think that the decline in revenue, attendance etc. was obvious for a significant amount of time. The area couldn't support a park of that size. Sadly, nothing is forever. Not even Kings Island. Not Dinseyland. Everything will come to an end in one way or another. This way Geauga Lake's fate. There was no saving it. But. It's closure was botched. Look at the Big Dipper. Look at all the enthusiasts who were denied last rides on their favorite rides. Look at the general public, who's historical relationship with the park was ended for no apparent reason. Look at the video above. No one was going to be happy about this happening. Cedar Fair could have at the very least let the park go out with a bit of dignity while showing an appreciation for the parks long time lovers. It only got/gets worse over time. The Big Dipper rots. History is lost. The land sits in despair. What's going to desecrate the space? Meijer? Another big box store? What do the people of Aurora want? Do they care? What a mess. There's the negative attention, in my opinion. Granted, this happened when i was like... what? 13? So time may have skewed some of this information. But regardless... What. A. Mess.
  5. I feel like this entire situation has been nothing but negative attention. Handled very poorly from the beginning.
  6. I remember seeing decorations going up in Rivertown during FearFest '05.
  7. From the Cemetery Drive entry: "Tombstones quake as the residents come out for a swinging wake. Beware of grim grinning ghosts wanting to socialize. What they really want to do is terrorize." This gave me a good laugh. Let's hope The Mouse doesn't catch wind of this...
  8. There's nothing funny about this or any other Harambe meme. It's not even a matter of being respectful or disrespectful. It just isn't funny. It isn't cool. It's obnoxious. Put yourself in the shoes of the person who had to pull the trigger. To echo previous sentiments, grow up.
  9. Thanks Mods! This can be a thankless job at times I'm sure. Glad to see those in question have been taken care of.
  10. Gut what's left of the Action Theater, knock it down , and put it a Ferris Wheel. Now's your chance Kings Island!
  11. Is The Racer really that rough?
  12. So if I buy a Coney pass it means I'm three?
  13. What about the train needs rehabbed? Probably some upgraded theme-ing along the route is all I can think of. Exactly. I'd like to see it be used for something more than just a transport to Soak City with an obnoxious soundtrack.
  14. The Reds Hall of Fame Grill is the only place I'll eat inside the park. The salads are all right. As far as the rest of the park, what a mess. As stupid as this sounds... I'd love to pay $13 for a burger and fries. But it should be "worth" that price. I'm all about quality food, service, quality, etc. I don't mind paying for it. But so help me God, I'm not paying for the abysmal low grade, overpriced, cafeteria food they're trying to push off on people. Sit down restaurant with fairly priced food and a decent, relaxed atmosphere? Here's my debit card. Cold, overcooked/priced JTM burger from the Festhaus? Come on, guys. Kings Island, give me a reason to want to spend more money at the park. You have a fantastic, unused space that could be updated (read elevator instillation for handicapped accessibility) and transformed into a helluva experience. Like a best day ever experience. Sound familiar?
  15. Ahhh. I love this guys stuff. wish I could've ran into him.
  16. The shed! That's where the green Intamin track is! Of course!
  17. If this turns out to not be a coaster... Consider me shocked. And that wouldn't be a terrible thing.
  18. I say leave the moderating the the moderators, everybody act like big kids, and don't feed the trolls. I'm guilty of the last one myself, sometimes. Today's a gonna be a good one, ladies and gents. Let's enjoy it.
