No problem CP was the park I grew up with so the old finds from there make them all that more interesting to see for me.- 21 replies

Yeah the photo is marked 1986 on the back and also see the clearing of land making way for Vortex. I always thought that ride was Flight Commander till I found Flight Commander didn't come around till the 90s

Old Cedar Point post card
faeriewench replied to jlopez's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yep, it was built in the 60s if I remember right, I believe it hung around up until just before construction began for Raptor (we have pictures from the late 80s and its still present). Shoot...interesting enough, there was a ride called Shoot the Rapids waaaaaay back. Here is a photo my grandpa took from about the same angle and its the late 80s here. http://www.flickr.co...157624998868097 For your postcard, its post 1972 cause the Giant Wheel debuted in 72 so that should narrow some years down hehe.- 21 replies

Old Cedar Point post card

Yeah I'm going with the 1970s on this one myself. In the 80s CP began using the Amazement Park slogan.- 21 replies

What's the name of the ride towards the very back by The Racer? (blue thing) and when was it removed?

Old Cedar Point post card
faeriewench replied to jlopez's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've seen similar cards, my guess early 1980s by the logo (maybe the 70s..). I love old postcards! You can even see the Pirate Ride entrance behind Blue Streak there. Pirate Ride scared me when I was a kid, lol.- 21 replies

We never had the chance to use the campground :/ my folks looked into it once but they didn't have a site large enough for our RV. Neat find!

If your dad likes to fish there's several state parks and rivers he could go fish in, just be careful and leave the manatees alone cause they're protected. There's some nice state parks east and northeast of Orlando like Wekiwa Springs, though some of them are about 30 minute drive away but I say they are all worth looking into.

Bear in mind the "dolphin swim" at Discovery Cove is not a swim (the dorsal tow is the closest thing to swim even tho it isn't). Its mostly standing in waist deep water to interact with the dolphin. Its still fun tho Discovery Cove is a nice park! If you haven't been to SeaWorld, you may enjoy Manta and Kraken. When I go to SW tho, I tend to shelve the coasters and spend all my time seeing the animals ignoring the rides, lol. EDIT for spelling fail..

IA: FIRE at Adventureland
faeriewench replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Which wooden coaster was that used to be shown on the roller coaster shows that were on Discovery channel way back in the mid to late 90s? Was that Idora park? All I know is it had a fairly large fire and every once in awhile I remember seeing it on TV when such news like this happen. -
Fast Lane at Knott's Berry Farm
faeriewench replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm pretty sure Knott's has already been doing Fast Lane. I know they were doing Fright Lane during Haunt. -
I couldn't tell you when they chopped it short preventing you from walking to the other side, but the last surviving part got removed around the time Nick Universe first opened I believe. Though for a few years following it would still show up on the maps

Or have a high school diploma (considering there has been 17 yr olds at the Farm).

I collect shot glasses, mugs, magnets, key chains, and occasional souvenir cups. I'm more into maps and post cards which I keep in boxes. I also like to collect souvenir bags, I have a binder I keep them under plastic so they don't get faded. Most stuff come from Cedar Point and Sea World, but there's a fair amount of Kings Island and other parks too. I have a lot of Paramount's Kings Island hoodies and also hoodies for KI Haunt. I have 1 hoodie from Knott's Haunt that was a gift this past year. Numerous CP shirts, at least 4 or 5 for Raptor, 2 Mantis shirts, 1 Banshee shirt and a Cedar Point Christmas in the Park sweater. Souvenir Cups from Kings Island I have a Delirium, Halloween Haunt (Green), Son of Beast (the weird looking black one with his claw at the base), and a mug with the original Kings Island logo, Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay and other Paramount branded cups and a WindSeeker. Other park souvenir cups include 6 Mantis cups, Soak City (CP), Challenge Park (CP), Berenstein Bear kids cup (CP), SeaWorld (with the original logo), a glass cup and a mug with branded with "Cedar Point Amazement Park". Shot glasses, I have for Diamondback, Beast, SeaWorld "Believe", Dollywood, and one for Magnum XL 200. Knott's Berry Farm Windseeker POV
faeriewench replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They're shock absorbers For me they made quite the difference that they sit still a bit more when trying to get in/out of the seats when I was there. Personally, I'd like KI to install them on WindSeeker there, that's the one thing I hate most is fearing that middle piece on the seat >.> -
I believe Urgent Scare achieved that (2 hours) in 08 when it was brand new on a couple Saturday nights. Back in 2003 I actually do remember being in line for nearly 2 hours for Psycho Path.

Terpy - Ok looks like the glasses policy is still in place. I never had an issue with that cause I don't wear glasses....yet.
-
I'm really not sure, though I wanna say yeah they do possibly have it in place :/

For me Raptor forever and always Silver Bullet is a lot of fun though only thing about it I don't like is you can feel the forces in your ankles towards the end and I don't recall such a thing happening to me on Raptor (its been a few years however, I may just don't remember).

You really would have enjoyed it RingMaster...I was traveling there on a smaller budget myself so I feel blessed with decent friends giving me a place to crash. Though in some ways I feel like I accomplished something, my first vacation on my own, paid with my own money and what not.

I was at Knott's for most of the week and I traveled out there alone for the first time -,- A Knott's scareactor and his gf gave me a place to stay during my visit and I got to spent a full day at the park along with another friend from there. (Haunt was the main reason I went). Overall, the trip was awesome. Getting to see some friends and made all new ones too. During the day it was really really quiet, every ride I did were pretty much walk-on, including WindSeeker! _1017912 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr _1017879 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr _1017948 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr _1017916 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr _1018071 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr Other regular Knott's pics:http://www.flickr.com/photos/ki_faerie_wench/sets/72157628003786424/ For the Haunt..it was AWESOME. I was actually amazed at the energy the scareactors all over had considering its so late in the season and they work a far more hectic schedule. My favorite having to be Endgames, it was loud, and full of energy and scareactors really heavy into their roles. Doll Factory while good, I can tell its seen its better days and time for it to be laid to rest. :/ The scare zones talent were on top of their game as well and sadly a few know too much of my weaknesses so I had multiple vampires in Necropolis chasing me all at once me getting scared to the point of taking off running says a lot considering its very hard to do. It was also good seeing some friends I don't get to see often and plus made plenty of new ones. now I wanna go back to Cali..I actually got accustomed to their weather >.> Some Haunt pics _1018169 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr IMG_3884 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr IMG_3877 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr IMG_3889 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr IMG_3897 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr Other Knott's Haunt pics: http://www.facebook....=1&l=05dd4271c1

Haunt Question...Probably a stupid one at that.
faeriewench replied to WinonaExpress's topic in Kings Island
No it is free with admission. There is the no re-entry after 7PM though, so if you are at the park during day and for whatever reason decide to leave and come back, you have to pay to be back in if I remember right. -
What doesn't scare you can be the very thing that can send someone else high stepping for the nearest exit.
