Last 7-2006 Son Of Beast Accident Case Settled
faeriewench replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I, for one, never had any issues. In fact the roughest ride I had on Sonny was its debut year. Anymore its Vortex I have issues with now. -
Giggle coaster (forget what its called now)
-
Yeah I was already made aware of it not being a free ride. But like give it a shot for the sake of credit thank you for the advice! How would the roughness compare to something like Vortex? I've only seen a handful of (not real clear) pictures of its restraints as well its cameo on CSI (which didn't show much of them) is bout all I ever seen of it.
-
Yeah it does, never been used apparently. Grandpa always kept it folded down using that area for his tool boxes. The front and back seats still have their plastic coverings (yes from the time it was still in factory). Back window rolls up and I only just learned the tail gate does come down recently She's in great shape, we pulled her out of the garage the other day and surprise surprise 2 offers to buy her to turn her into a potential derby car >.> lol no thanks. They are very popular with the derby crown, sadly. Yeah I've noticed. Tough derby car that probably sit and yawn with a newer car trying to ram it. Also make a strong tow vehicle to haul derby cars with. This one won't be going to a derby tho, ha to them. XD

So I been thinking about my 2011 options. There's Kings Island of course. One I know I want to try for sure is return to Cedar Point. More than likely might join gigacoaster2k on a trip, I can probably use the positive companionship. Me and dad are thinking of a trip later in the season to CP with big Linda, there's a very special family friend living up in the area that became fairly close to my grandpa I'm sure would love to see the car again. (a picture of Linda I finally found at CP with Maggie in the background) I'm deciding whether or not my July trip should be SeaWorld again or go out to Las Vegas to see the Mirage dolphin exhibit and get a ride on Manhattan Express. One thing I hate about SW in July is the horrendous humidity, so I may just save it for the winter when I stay with my great aunt. Anyone here been on Manhattan Express? I heard its a bit shaky, either way I'm gonna try it at least once, but could use opinions from others that been on it so I have an idea on what to expect. We driven through Las Vegas before but never actually stayed there. If I end up going to LV I'll still have my SeaWorld in the winter months

Maybe eventually I'll share some short videos either on YT or my FB. I found a home video we have from Winterfest in the late 80s (wasn't till then I remember a pony ride >.>)

2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex

This sorts of things make me think of "No use in crying over spilled milk" -
Have you decided what you be staying at? Just one minor thing about the tents, they aren't allowed in either Camper Village or Lighthouse Point. LP though, there are the cabins. One nice thing about staying on property no traffic on the causeway
-
Okay some of you are fine, most aren't The ones that hang around SW interviewing the uneducated bleeding heart hippies with the cardboard signs give the good ones a bad name. They're supposed to give both sides, instead they choose bias side who can't decide whether the water at SW is too filthy or so clean the whales get sunburns from the rays of the sun shining through the water.

I heard about that earlier, I think its about time. The news media swarmed the park today, my friend had a camera shoved into her face even. My word... news media in this country, don't mind their manners. I'm happy they are gonna start working towards on getting back in the water with them, 3 of the youngsters in Orlando I feel bad for cause they were just beginning their water work training when the attack happened.

Remember though, lines have nothing to do with popularity. -

That "such as" is referring to the VIP perks not just ERT. Kind read between the lines I guess, it really says ERT is among the perks the park offers with Gold/platinum Passes. -
2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
faeriewench replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I think CP does it that way cause of the Main gate and Resorts entrance being opposite ends of the park? I personally take ERT for DB over WindSeeker cause its a closer walk from the gate But oh well, I'm not surprised if that ERT is indeed gone. Nevermind, Terpy touched on that topic already. -
camping at or near Cedar Point

Yeah LOL my dad picked the Franklin up brand new at the Trailer show in Cincinnati using the Imperial. (Franklin went out of business a few years later) Guys there asked him "where's your truck?" and he pointed to the Imperial sitting idling away. "That thing? Are you nuts?", they had to leave and come back asking my dad to sign an agreement basically stating "we are not responsible for anything that happens once the camper is off the property". He learned on the way home Imperial isn't ready quiet yet so he took a full year break to get that Imperial fixed up. Franklin though, the preferred tow vehicle they recommended is basically a small semi, not even a regular truck and didn't recommend frequent travels either, these campers were mostly designed for one way trip. Take it to a campground and leave it, kind of like a winter or summer home. Of all the years we stayed at CP (and we were there allot 5 times a year, week long stays June and July, weekend trips in May, August and Sept) we only saw one other Franklin that showed up a couple times to the campground, whole thing was 40ft like ours and yet still was less camper cause the guy had it custom made to have his car in the back inside the trailer. But they both looked extremely identical down to the gold stripe going down the sides. That video was shot when my dad was moving the Franklin around between campsites, it was the Franklin's first time out. The uncut version of the video my family in the background doing their wise cracks about "Long Long Trailer" Not bragging... if this were a movie, including the rest of the muscle car tribe and their campers, it probably surpass National Lampoons Vacation A employee at CP even got to where he referred to us "Destination Disaster" something corny always happened! Once a construction worker felt the need to jump a bridge to get away from the oncoming Franklin. Take one glance at it swaying behind the Imperial and hope over to the other side to safety just before it got close enough. But yeah, I'd say look into CP campgrounds, maybe try to go for Lighthouse Point I think in some ways positives outweigh the negatives, but I see where you're coming from. Any campground can hold a popup which I have little experience with since our entire family traveled together therefore the bigger RVs. Kind of weird this thread got posted when I found a old Camper Village Escape brochure from CP where grandpa was writing on the back doing some math problems, basically deciding whether 2 dollars is worth moving the campers down the road just to do sight seeing and going to the other islands when they could just stay at CP. Back then they were still going to Firelands when they wanted to go to the other Lake Erie islands. -

We stayed at Cedar Point 's campgrounds with our massive campers and muscle cars many many times I think the only other campground we ever stayed at in the area was the Firelands but something happened and grandpa would rather keep the Airstream in its campsite at CP for multiple days while we did other things around Sandusky, visiting other islands etc without moving it a few miles down the road. Difference with us we carried much larger campers (the Franklin by itself is 40 ft long, actually illegal in some states for a straight pull), so we needed CP's bigger sites, getting them moved around was a lot more work involved, especially when a early 1970s mopar was the tow vehicle. So it made CP a bit more convenient. I dunno if CP cracked down harder but the "no campfires" thing didn't stop a lot of people lighting their grills. That was pretty common sight (we never did but yeah I'm not recommending that). I think you'd still get discounts to the park and don't really have to deal with the traffic on the causeway are positives to staying on site since you can walk to the park. That was pretty much my childhood till I was 13 years old, we often had our reservations for the season made as early as February each year. Hearing Magnum's lift chain each morning became something of the norm, it meant time for me to go walk my golden retriever all over the campground. There was another campground (I don't remember which area campground it was but it was Sandusky/Port Clinton areas) that claimed to have campsites big enough to hold the Franklin, come to find nothing there was big enough to hold it and weight of it smashed up a plumbing line that caused a wet mess where campsites flooded. That Franklin certainly made traveling interesting but entertaining. We tried going to Kelleys Island with it, it started to sink the Ferry before it even left the docks. I believe thats was one of the incidents that happened when my dad and grandpa decided to just leave the campers at CP. -
My 4 yr old phone does just fine. (Verizon carrier)

I'm more familiar with CP's setup so what I remember of KI's is vague other than the dolphins wasn't theirs. Does anyone remember how big that tank was? I'm watching video footage my dad shot of them and those behaviors like the tail walk they do I dunno.. :/

Footprint looks like my mother's.. oops. (don't wanna mess with her when she's mad!) EDIT: K actually looked at the picture. If that's supposed to be The Beast then whoever did it should have come to me or someone who is actually familiar with animals. Beast has claws, not talons. (unless he evolved) -

I know it's different mostly but CP already has a second (and older than Raptor even) suspended coaster...Iron Dragon. -
I'm one of the folks who often have dreams that eventually come true at some point ._. And I had some interesting KI related dreams since my rookie year. The weirdest one to this day I had little over a year ago....weird in a sense it involves KI and yet didn't happen at KI. Make sense? Son of Beast operating in my grandparents back yard over in Colerain Township. Grandpa was obviously in it, as well myself and couple key family friends. I still don't get the connection between grandpa and Sonny

I assume my post intruded and you really are seeking pictures of Days of Thunder and its queue.... Yeah me and you typed at the same time. I was referring to pics of the attraction other than the sign out front. I remember Top Gun's theming but no real memory of Days of Thunder.
