PKI to host "Italian Job: Stunt Track" const. tour
BoddaH1994 replied to Shaggy's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
The CONSTRUCTION or the tour? I'd say the construction itself will last until the last possible second before the coaster's opening in May. The tour itself... I can't speak for the park, but top of my head... two hours.... -
^ That train of thought is what's ruining the amusement industry.

I think that videos up to 50 MB are a problem at all. I've downloaded videos twice that size without a problem. One thing I might suggest is for large videos we could set up a bittorrent tracker, and then it might go a lot quicker. Good idea... if we can figure out how to break it down into smaller parts, we may be able to swing that. On the other side, it's good that most of you have broadband and are able to stream for now.

I always found January, February and early March to be the most difficult time of the offseason for me. Simply because I'm already off of the buzz from the last season, the holidays are over (including my birthday which is Jan 18th ) and the staff here already has several months of future plans layed out for when the park opens... the waiting game is what kills you, so close yet so far away! WMV will be the likely way to go... here's the next question, and this mainly goes out to all of the broadband people out there... how big is TOO big when it comes to a video? Let's say regardless of the content.
-
Not necessarily, athough it does ask you to state which park you frequent the most.

PKI is scheduled to reopen for the 2005 season on April 8th. From what I understand, the new attraction, the Italian Job Stunt Track, is sleighted to open in May.
-
Yeah...it's too bad that we have that whole offseason rehab and IJST construction thing in the way between seasons.
-
Yep, you're right. Good eye.

That, my friends, is a pic from the short span between the slide and the Zephyr.

Yeah, believe it or not, PKI was actually on its way of restoring it to its glory days.

PKI to host "Italian Job: Stunt Track" const. tour

He's right. Shaggy DID say that the regular lot would be open, although I have no clue where they want us to park. If not, then as soon as you get off the exit, coming from the south, make a right onto (Columbia, I believe it is) and then make an almost immediate left onto PKI's property, right accross from the gas station. It's self-explanitory from there. -
So you guys are saying that you'd rather have the files a larger size, but keep the quality that they're at now? As you may recall, for most of you it streamed. As far the dial up users.... sorry.

Ok, imagine that you're walking towards the entrance. You're on the right side of the Tram circle. Security Post 3 isn't viewable by this point, but it's directly on the other side of the movie posters on your right. More or less, start walking towards the main entrance and you'll see it before you hit the real plaza area. -
You are absolutely correct. Bandwidth isn't really a big issue with us (sorry John!). We have more than enough with our service through Nexigen. Streaming just seems more convenient because you can watch the videos while you are downloading instead of waiting those endless minutes to watch it. Any more suggestions?

Ok, here's the deal-- The media team here really wants to make 2005 a big year for original videos, but we have a problem. It seems as though the trusty WMV files that people seem to count on really don't cut it for the PKIC standards that we like to hold for you guys. Unfortunately, it seems as though with WMV format, with any kind of decent resolution whatsoever, it's about 5megs per minute. Therefore, an average video will be 25 megs. Now, for the broadband users that can stream, it's not that big of a deal, but it makes a world of difference to dial up users. We are trying to make the new media open to all. Does anyone know of a file format that can maintain the integrity of sound and video, but be about 2-3megs per minute? Any input would be gratly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ryan

Ummm, Ryan do you want to take care of this for me, and tell everyone why we will never see a Topple Tower at PKI? Sure! Reason #1 - Huss sucks at experminental things... if we got a topple tower, it would be down as much as Tomb Raider. Reason #2 - Huss sucks in general at anything that they haven't made a thousand of. Reason #3 - The ride likely won't be as exciting as it seems to be. Reason #4 - It looks too much like Drop Zone to be cool. Reason #5 - We're getting coasters every year until the end of the decade!

PKICentral.com Downtime Explained
BoddaH1994 replied to Dane's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
You'll have to write to PKIC's HR in order to get your refund. -
I've never had surgery. ::Knocks on wood:: But I imagine that it would be a rather terrifying thing to go through. The best of luck to you, and save and codeine that you don't use.

I don't see neither the hotel nor a New Year's eve deal being too successful after the novelty wears off.

What about the Crystal Beach Cyclone?

For the love of God, people! It may be 30 years old, but it's not like it couldn't support a pretty massive amount of weight. I'm getting this "if the ball weighs more than 50lbs the tower will fall over and kill a bunch of people" vibe. Seriously, the reason why it seems flimsy sometimes is because it's made of steel, which is intended to bend. That's all. The structural integrity is fine.

No way, DORK! i made sure that i got a different seat. I had to ride again, though, because i was addicted!!!! i think they have support groups for that... called ACEers Anonymous? It's in pretty terrible taste that you'd say something like that, especially from a person who frequents Holiday World.

Amazon.com - The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island by Charles Infosino ^ A PKIC Guide book? That would be interesting, but it would be in terrible taste to compete with one of our main contributers. Now, Charles has toyed with the idea of a 2nd edition, and I'm sure he'd call upon the great people of PKICentral to help reformat the visitor's guide or whatever, but that's between he and his publisher.

When telling people that I go to the park 35 or so times a season, I've been asked countless times whether or not I have a season pass. It's like, "No, I actually pay $1500 a year to go instead of $60"
