No one necessarily thinks that everytime Paramount comes out with a movie that the park is going to theme something to it, it's simply just put on the table.

Dude, get over it! It's $20! You paid almost that much for just one Best Buy shirt. No I'm not going to get over it. It's hard too when every year it seems like we get perks taken away from us. Any grizzeled vet can vouch for me. It's like that everywhere all the time. I bet the promoted this stuff like it was a great thing and it's a great opportunity for you too. I remember when my work restructured and a LOT of people got demoted. They had this big hyped meeting about it and how this was such a great thing, but in all reality, it quickly hit the fan and stayed shrouded.

I heard that last year. Let's just hope that if it's true, it's SFKK or another local park that buys it so most of us can enjoy it.

I think they could use another Hollywood-style area to complement Action Zone. A lot of rumors that have circulated have been renovating I-Street to look like the entrance to a movie studio, but I don't see that as being necessary. What they really need is an area that is an off-shoot from the main park so it doesn't feel like you're at an amusement park that actually looks like a movie set if they want to accomplish what they're shooting for. I'd say the area should contain a few rides, but mainly be dedicated to sit down restaurants and (good) shows. On that same token, does anyone else not really share in the vision of PKI with the whole Hollywood thing? They're attempting to be more like Disney and Universal with the Hollywood-themed rides, but it seems like they're attempting to directly promote the fact that they are owned by a film company. Don't get me wrong, what they are actually doing is the best they can do in my opinion, but why keep telling people that you're "in" the movies if they can see that for themselves? IMHO, if this were my decision (which it's not) and I wanted an entire Hollywood-makeover for the park, I would do just that, and do it over the span of very few years. Right now, it seems like PKI is in the awkward phase of being half Universal and have Coney Island. Granted, what I want for the park is the ability to be a high-class Hollywood-inspired park that still has the family appeal of parks of the past. I do have the fortunate confindence in thinking that PKI is going in that direction.

I agree, I'd be a BIG FAN of a return of Phantom Theatre in some way. I'm not talking just using them for an event like Fearfest, but rather having the old characters and maybe even some new ones in an all new attraction. Perhaps even utilized in some sort of slow moving coaster or something. Regardless, it would have to be geared towards teens-adults. Dark rides are really a lost art in my opinion. I mean, what makes up an amusement park? Classically speaking, it's a carousel, coaster (mainly wooden) and some sort of haunted attraction. All of this is gone in today's world. I mean, what's a carousel if it's made by Chance? It's just another lame flat ride, not a work of art. What's a wooden coaster that's not made by PTC? It can be good, but it's hard to imagine a whole lot of wooden coasters that you would deem as "timeless" or "classic" that have no PTC involvement. On that same token, what's a dark ride that has pop up cartoons as opposed to realistic animatronics? I mean, Scooby is a great concept, but couldn't the concept of the interactive dark ride have been utilized on something better?

I still don't know. You may recall at the tour when someone asked Jeff about Winterfest coming back, he responded, "Well, that has been a BIG rumor." He also teased with it a little too much at the CDBB tour at the end of the 2003 season. Now, I'm not really one to read entirely too much into what imply is going to happen, but it almost seems like this one is put out on the table for us.

I thought that Paramount Pictures' stunt crew was going to do the effects, but from what I understand, that was wrong. Of course, Tomb Raider was done by Technifex/Paramount Parks, but more than likely, Paramount told Technifex what they wanted to see and Technifex took it from there.

They're both Technifex. I think we can all agree that if Technifex makes this one unfixable, they offically suck.

That's true, but there are two different factors for that. The first of which being that Scooby still has some novelty left in it, and the fact that the general public wouldn't know a brilliant ride if they were forced into a seat, the lab bar closed on them, and the ride went into motion.

Yes, the Pepper's Ghost part was BRILLIANT. If I hadn't read about it, I never would have figured out how they did it.

Here's a question for you: What was your favorite part of PT? Mine's definitely the Maestro in the queue line. Especially when you're younger, his haunting "So you want to enter the theatre, do you?" He's speak for a minute or so and turn around to look like he was playing the organ. VERY convincing. It's a shame that it had to go. I almost wish they'd put it up again somewhere else in the park. I mean seriously... the only other dark ride of its type that came even close to being that great is Noah's Ark at Kennywood.
