  1. That might be a tough one, unless they make it all cement which would be VERY costly. The ice that forms on Lake Erie, and just the winter in general, wrecks havoc along the shoreline not only destroying wood piers, but the beaches, docks, channels- pretty much everything man-made after only a couple of years. The winter repair bill just for Presque Isle State Park (Waldameer is at the entrance to Presque Isle) is usually near a million every year. The winters on PI is truely nature's fury at it's best.
  2. *Knock, knock* "Housekeeping. You need towels?"
  3. How would that "go after the thrill seeker" and be something the "teen market will really enjoy"? It's all about perception & interpretation. It could be the start of the rumored boardwalk, and will also have rides.
  4. ^ The one down by the shore? Yeah, that one...
  5. ^ Absolutely. It could be the very much rumored boardwalk.
  6. And the Prowler cost even less than Wicked Twister Although not a CF park, Ravine Flyer II was less expensive than Prowler by $2 million.
  7. Are you asking if getting history facts correct? If yes, then it does matter.
  8. If you are not talking before 1892, what dates are you talking about? 2:28 "By the 1950s it was hard to find much evidence of Cedar Point's glory years. The Cyclone roller coaster was gone, leaving Cedar Point without any coaster at all." Cyclone closed in 1951 and super coaster opened in 1952. http://www.rcdb.com/4529.htm Is one year now considered a long period?
  9. If you are not talking before 1892, what dates are you talking about?
  10. Is that "safe" supposed to be "save" -or- is it supposed to "be safe"?
  11. ^ That is if Gravity Group would be willing to sell Timberliners for SoB.
  12. I don't see how you will get bashed. At least you have actually been to CP. Many people have said the same thing about MF as you. Have you considered that MF was not designed for airtime elements? Just a thought....
  13. ^ The pictures are definately OM at CP. Tou can see the water tower & PT in the third pic. Also- OM at CP was introduced in 1981- just like the ad mentions. I heard rumors it was possibly for sale, or, that it was going to be moved to another location in the park. I hope that this is not true. I would certainly leave a hole in CP's flat ride lineup.
  14. Comparing videos between rides does no justice for either ride. There are WAY too many variables like: type of camera used and how the camera was mounted being the biggest variables off the top of my head. That said, you really hit the nail on the head of what I was joking around with. Rides like MS and Beast also have a reputation of being rough and each has been around much longer than SoB. I do agree that both rides are on the rough side, but neither compare to SoB's roughness. Both rides have had complaints, but, neither have had the numerous injury complaints as SoB. Even aside from the injury complaints, there has never been another ride that has had the issues like SoB and still operates today. I can relate to your feelings as I felt the same way in 2000 when I made the trek to KI, only to find SoB down numerous times. Finally, I was able to get on it, and boy, was I disappointed. The ride looks to be magnificent as there is no other ride that is as impressive looking as SoB. But that is where the thrill ended. The ride was not fun. It was also the first ride that I ever had to take a break from riding other rides. Both owners of the park must have also known about SoB's issues as they tried numerous times to make the ride more enjoyable for most people by pouring in millions of dollars on modifications with little to show in the end. If it wasn't broke, then why fix it? That particular HH SoB was not operating on some nights. Chances are, you were at the park on a night it was closed. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11229&st=0&p=183546&hl=Son%20of%20beast&fromsearch=1entry183546
  15. WHAT? You haven't heard the old saying: "Drawn out rides are overrated".
  16. We should start a new poll on favorite posts. This post is in the # 1 slot for me. Why would this this be a favorite? Why? You summed it up quite neatly:
  17. I have always believed: food does not make itself great; the people making the food make it great.
  18. I have microwaved pretzels all the time.
  19. In all seriousness... SoB is closed due to the numerous injury complaints, and amount of money spent w/o ride improvement. To believe that SoB has been shut down due to one issue is just ignorance of reality.
  20. I have always enjoyed Bob Evans for breakfast, lunch, or dinner: http://hosted.where2getit.com/bobevans/index.html?form=locator_search&addressline=44870 But it is hard to beat some of the mom & pop shops in the Sandusky area when it comes down to quality vs. quantity. Unfortunately, most of them do not have websites.
  21. KI's GM? He knows as much as all the other people that had undisclosed injuries. That is, until SoB told them. (BTW, I have no idea what sarcasm is or means)
  22. I always considered the term "sister" as something that is very alike and close enough that the similarities can be seen. But perhaps that is just me.
  23. ^ That doesn't matter. The ride was "cleared as safe" so it must be ok to operate.
  24. I hate it when reality hits you in the chest and breaks your sternum....
