Kings Island 2010 Ride Downtime
The loose article policy will be argued forever. Neither side is completely right or wrong. My suggestion: don't have loose articles with you. It's easier and cheaper.

Cedar Point Weekends
Good weather Saturdays during Halloweekends can be argueably busier than a July/ early August weekend. Rumor has it, CP has broken a few daily attendence records on these Saturdays. And what's worse- dispatch times are longer due to some of the normal summer staff that operated the rides are not there since school is back in session. Halloweekend Fridays are usually dead, but as Terp mentioned, only a handful of rides operate. The list of operating rides will change due to staffing. Halloweekend Sundays are usually quiet. If I had to choose- I would do a Sunday. As far as weekends this time of year goes: expect 2+ hours for Maverick & MF, 1+ for all the other coasters. The park is nuts. I personally would not go. But hey- if it is the only time of year you can go- a bad day at CP is better than a good day at home.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Doing a diagnosis or casually observing will not require tools being used loud enough to be heard from FD as reported.

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
http://screamscape.c...ings_island.htm How ironic. The day after "rumored" work gets posted here and on Wiki, it shows up on ScreamScape. Take a step back and think about this. If SoB was having some sort of TG renovation done, wouldn't the amount of construction vehicles add up to more than one?

view from Eiffel Tower...
Time of day/ month and weather has alot to do with how far you can see. On a cold, clear November day you will be able to see much further than a clear warm/ hot July day.

Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming
In several communities, the cameras are "free". The company installs them at no cost, and then takes a percentage of the ticket revenue. Do you have any information on that fact?
-
Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming
Or we could just expect people to actually follow the rules of the road and not blame their destination for the ticket they received for being and idiot driver. Red light cameras are not cheap- usually around $50,000. If people are aware of them, they actually may follow the rules. And municipalities will not spend that kind of money unless there is a need for it- and believe me- it is needed. Cleveland Rd./ US-6 coming from the East can be quite dangerous from 8:00am on when CP is open. There have been numerous times I have been going the speed limit and passed like I am standing still. It is a dangerous stretch of road because aggressive drivers make it unsafe. I will often take a right off of Cleveland Rd. onto Cedar Point Rd. and go in "the back way" to CP. I avoid not only the idiot drivers, I avoid the Causeway traffic.

Spain: 15 Year Old Girl Dies In Amusement Ride Accident
The initial reports point to a metal fatigue/ Vortex shredding issue- much like the issue that caused Vertigo to collapse at CP back in 2002. The disturbing part is, sure maintenance checked the ride out and ran it empty when a "noise" was reported. Why not add water dummies to simulate the guests' weight and then operate it? The ride obviously needs to support guests' weight; maintenance failed to simulate actual operation. I know hindsight is 20/20. But after years of seeing water dummies used on various rides (MF, SoB etc.) it seems like an easy test to be performed when safety is at question.

Richard Kinzel: Market Will Thaw
My family has access to a pool at anytime. So, unfortunately, the thrill of being in a pool is the "norm". Thanks for thinking of us though!

Richard Kinzel: Market Will Thaw
Intresting. So KI removed two rides, your mom has not been back since- but it didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth. So why has she not been back? Sure KI has removed rides. I can only see two of those rides you referred from Wiki that did not have the same "uncomfortable" feeling you referred to due to their size, that were not replaced with other family type rides.

NEW FOR 2011
^ Sorry but, this makes no sense. You can ride it and not get wet, until the last drop? Then you get wet? If you sit in the front, you get soaked. If you sit toward the back- not so much. And how wet you get also depends on who is using the water cannons & their timing. EDIT- Also see Jasper above

NEW FOR 2011
You really took all those off hand hints to heart?

Richard Kinzel: Market Will Thaw
Now I see what the issue is. Since the park has taken out a couple rides that meant alot to your family, it has left a bad taste in your mouth. There is nothing wrong with that. Not including BB, KI has 46 rides. 13 of those rides are considered thrill rides and 33 are considered family rides. Now in those family rides, 6 are considered high thrill or agressive thrill. That still leaves 27 family rides. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/park/rides/height_guide.cfm It is unfortunate your mother does not enjoy most of KI's rides, but let's face it, KI is not for everybody. If she is not happy with KI's lineup & attractions, I really can't think of another place she would be better off as she will face the same issues.

Safe Height Restrictions?
The safety features, such as lap bars, are engineered to keep people from falling out of a ride. For those lap bars to be effective, they are to be put in such a position consistant with many people's body parts (i.e. arms, chest, etc.). With a smaller person, the position of the body to the lap bar is different and thus less effective. The same goes for children and car seats. A seatbelt for an adult goes across their chest and waist. For smaller children not in a booster seat, the belt will go across their neck and legs.

Flight Deck (aka Top Gun)
Well then you may want to clarify yourself as to what you point is. As you can see, you clearly mentioned the start of the queue in reference to the ride location. But if you meant a larger queue sign, then no, KI does not need a bigger sign. People walk by signs, all the time, ignoring them. Even with the largest of signs pointing a direction in front of them, people will still have no clue which way to go.

I am going to take an educated guess that you do not have kids, so you really don't know what screams family at all. When my kids were younger, I didn't care about riding the big rides, I wanted to be with my kids- even if it was not on the ride with them. Watching their face on a ride is priceless, and worth all the money spent. Also as a parent, you learn what rides you can accompany your kids on real quick, it does not need to be spelled out in great detail, and along with that, a majority of the rides are parent/ child friendly. Where do you possibly get the notion that there are not many rides for a parent & child combo at KI? What does need to be spelled out is the Parent Swap Program. Each park had it's own version, with different rules. It is difficult to keep up with the different policies- especially when the some of the ride operators are unaware of the program.
