  1. For those who believe age is a significant factor as the CEO: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/03/oldest-public-company-ceo_n_597602.html#s95640 Along with that; some presidents have been close to, or over the age of 70: Andrew Jackson was within a few months of turning 70 when his end of term was up. William Henry Harrison was elected at 68. (but he also died a month later due to his inaguration speech) James Buchanan was within a few months of being 70 when his end of term was up. Harry Truman was almost 69 when his end of term was up. Dwight D. Eisenhower was a few months over 70 when his term ended. and the senior of the group: Ronald Reagan was almost 78 at the end of his term. The point being, age should not make a difference on how well one can do thier job. If they can't do it due to medical reasons surrounding their age, the people around them will see a problem; not a bunch of internet cranks where the majority have not even met the man, let alone work with him close enough to have a valid opinion if he can hadle the job at his age.
  2. Let's be clear, you shared no details on why you feel the way you do. Your desire to share an open-ended statement yet give no reasons to back it up is troll-like. Now I'm sure you are not a troll, but why hide why you feel the way you do? Of course there is a rebuttal with everything, this is an internet forum. http://www.merriam-w...ictionary/forum Now if you don't want to have a discussion, why bother posting at all? Unless you are just being a troll, which I truely hope you are not. This is a rather fun discussion site, and we really don't need that type of hassle. Now what is intresting, is that you don't like:(from your about me page) http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showuser=1948 If you don't agree with Kinzel's age of being CEO, isn't that being judgemental? If you make a open-ended statement, yet play aloof to what is or is not an opinion, isn't that just being fake? I'll leave the ignorant reference where it is at.
  3. Excellent answer to a well thought out opinion!
  4. Why does Mr. Kinzel need to retire?
  5. So what is your opinion of "when to go".
  6. Intresting again. What issues would you be referring to?
  7. Interesting. So when is the time to "retire".
  8. Closed? It's much more than closed....
  9. And those unit holders are now wanting to know where their distributions are...some have urged distributions be resumed...but covenants with existing debt holders do not allow that. Oh, the Q's... Don't forget, as a limited partnership, MOST unitholders have essentially no say in who runs the company or how...yet one unit holder has been allowed to have two seats added to the board, and within days of those seats being filled, the company's chief operating officer suddenly resigned... And don't forget, it was in 2005 that the COO position was created for Mr. Falfas. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2010/06/cedar_fair_chief_operating_off.html The same unitholders that do have a say, wanted Mr. Kinzel to stay on as CEO after his well publicized planned departure in 2006. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2006/12/22/fun-with-dick-and-chain.aspx It appears to me, that when Mr. Kinzel's extended contact expires in 2012, Mr. Falfas expected to become CEO. That apparently was not going to happen (and at this point many reasons could be speculated as to why), so Mr. Falfas did what many executives-in-waiting have done, get out now.
  10. If Mr. Kinzel was not doing his job, and for clarification- his job is to make money for the shareholders, he would have been ousted many moons ago. As enthusiasts, we may not agree on many things he has done, yet we still spend our money in the park- just like the non-enthusiasts.
  11. I think what needs to be remembered is that this list was made by cheapflights.com. A website dedicated to selling airline tickets. IMO, that is why many of the coasters on the list are from MANY parts of the World, and most have been seen on Travel Channel.
  12. Funny how ScreamScape makes this sound like a breaking news story. Gemini has vallyed often over the years. Usually, the operators will keep sandbags in the rear 1/2 of the train and have guests occupy the front 1/2 until there are enough guests to occupy the entire train for the whole day (which also is usually when the ride has warmed up enough). I assume, given the *facts* in the information given, there were no guests on the train, and only sandbags on the back 1/2 half of the train thus leaving a light train which did not complete the circut.
  13. 49ers players pulling for positive vote on new stadium http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_15248870?nclick_check=1 I wonder if those same players are aware/ concerned about the future of GA if the vote passes.
  14. If $10 to $15,000,000 were that easy, why bother with SoB at all and just start over? El Toro was $12,000,000 Voyage was $6,500,000 Ravine Flyer II was $6,000,000 Each is a great ride with a great layout, whereas SoB has neither. Also, by renovate, exactly what do you believe needs to be renovated that has not already been done?
  15. ^ While Raptor did open on time, there were many, MANY delays on that terribly cold and rainy day. Also take into consideration that Raptor was not the first of it's kind, the basic "design" was already done years before.
  16. I just heard that Shoot the Rapids will not be opening this weekend through a Red Cross source. That is really too bad, the weather looks to be fantastic this weekend.
  17. Man, I feel better now. I was starting to get the shakes and beads of sweat were forming on my forehead. Seriously, you guys do a great job. Thanks for all the effort!
  18. Wow. And many thought that it was only Intamin that had delays....
  19. Why do some expect perfection? I am happy with a delay of a ride, than not having it at all.
  20. ^ July 2000, front seat. It was the first ride I thought should have Aleve as a sponsor.
  21. http://www.conwaygreene.com/aurora/lpext.dll/Aurora/68?fn=document-frame.htm&f=templates&2.0 I have scanned through this numerous times, and still cannot find a height ordinance for commercial structures. But it also is not the easiest read either.
  22. From an exact numbers standpoint, you are correct, CP's system is flawed. But they are not looking for exact numbers. They are looking for approximations and trends and use the information concerning ridership (time of day, what days are busier etc.), maintenance, and staffing.
  23. I have heard those same rumblings, but have not seen any other *proof* to back up those comments (i.e. park official comment, newspaper article etc.) Although, I do have a difficult time believing that the Aurora government would not allow special considerations if asked.
  24. ^ Way to many "what if's". We could go on for years about the different scerarios of what "could have been". Would SW still be in Ohio? Perhaps. There was no indication that SW was not doing well, or, were looking to sell prior to the SF purchase. If SF would have put in a half-hearted effort into their grand expansion, I would feel different. It was depressing to see what became of SW after SF took over. Planning has not been a strong suit for SF. Did they intend for it to happen? No. But it did....
  25. After witnessing what SF did to GL and SW, I shutter to think what they would do with KI (or any other park that I enjoy). But I will give them credit where it is due. SFGad is a great park.
