Kings Island - Photos of Things Now Gone
The day known as "Black Sunday" at KI was a series of unfortunate events. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=817 Please see Dane's explanation as to what happened. It has the the most accurate information. There have been numerous "facts" listed in this thread, but most of them are rather "tainted". Nice pictures though!

Another trim on I305?
I have to disagree. Sure, I am completely and totally of the persuasion that Cedar Fair might've said to Intamin, "You know this doesn't have to be as good as Millennium, you know?" (a plan that, if true, seems to have backfired). But I don't think Cedar Fair spend money (perhaps more importantly, time) by adding a trim break to the first hill. If they would close the ride and bring in Intamin and have a new break installed there, I doubt "letting Millennium Force win" would even be in the top ten reasons why. CF is not going to pull a Paramount (i.e. SoB shorter than Beast) and add a trim break because it is faster than MF. Where do people come up with this conspiracy theory stuff? The powers that be at CF can do the math and realize that MF is going into it's 11th season, it can't be a record breaker or be the fastest forever, even in their own park family. Not to mention, CF built a certain 420' coaster shortly after the debut of MF that goes considerably faster. What motivation would they have to slow down I305 vs. MF? It makes no sense. Now they will add a trim if the "greying out" becomes an issue with park guests. Check out this video, courtesy of Rob at TPR: If Rob, who has probably been on more coasters then the average bear, is "greying out", than I would have to assume that it will be a more intense effect on the average park guest. Enthusiasts love it. The others? Well I can see it scaring the he!! out of them. Coasters are built for the majority, not the minority. And face it, enthusiasts are the minority. I also do not believe that CF would incur any cost to add the trim. CF has a contract with Intamin for certain specs. If the "greying out" threshold is too intense, it would be up to Intamin to foot the bill, much like Intamin had to foot the bill for the design & track change to Maverick. havnt we been through this before? the ride has not received more trims. unless you count from the day it was built till the day it was open.... *You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.* It was explained with: words, video, pop-up pictures, and crayon that Beast has not had trims added. http://www.KICentral...pic=20970&st=45

Initial Weather Forecast
The weatherman has a difficult time predicting tomorrow's weather let alone weather 10 days from now. I wouldn't lose any sleep over a 10 day outlook forecast. It will probably change 5 more times before the 17th.

PTR The Other Epic Trip
Great pics! Hersheypark is one of my favorite parks. For anyone that wants to get an idea of what KI was like before Paramount, take a trip to Hershey. You will not be disappointed.

Heinz Out, Red Gold In At Cedar Fair Parks
My wife bought another brand of ketchup other than Heinz- once. I made her promise me that she would never do that again. There are just a few things that you have to get a name brand for: Heinz Ketchup Hellman's Mayo Any name brand toilet paper Campbell's tomato soup Smucker's jelly Red Gold must have given CF a sweet deal to make the change. I doubt it will effect food sales though. When someone wants a hot dog or fries, I have never heard the order start out with "What kind of ketchup do you have?"

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
I really question the validity of this CF quote made by the pro- stadium group: Especially given this quote, by CF, on October 10th, 2009: Now CF did say they would entertain a buy-out option, which is a part of the negotiation, but listening does not mean they want out. It simply means that CF has given the 49ers & Santa Clara something to consider as opposed to having no negotiations at all. Many negotiations have both sides asking for their "cake and eat it too" and end up meeting somewhere in the middle. I have a difficult time believing that losing the revenue GA generates for Santa Clara is worth the money going to be spent on the new stadium, and renovations to the area the stadium is going to require. I also cannot understand why the 49ers would want to move almost 40 miles away from where they are currently located, unless Santa Clara has given them a sweetheart deal on the land lease. If that is true, and GA is forced out, that would mean less money generated with the new stadium vs. the + $5 million GA pays Santa Clara.

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
That is the basic issue. The vote in June is to see if the people of Santa Clara want the stadium or not. The language used for the vote is being questioned. I have, numerous times, had to re-read a summary of a vote to comprehend what I am voting for. The language is written by lawyers, so it has the possibility of being quite misleading. If the citizens vote "yes", that would mean, at least, $79 million of taxpayer money will go to the stadium construction & improvements necessary to support the stadium. In addition, another $35 million will be generated by a tax on local hotels. So not only will thier taxes being going up, if they are going to have a family event, their guests to the area will be paying more to stay in the area. And then, if the people of Santa Clara want to go to a game, they will be paying an upwards of $100 just for a ticket for the game and also paying very high prices for refreshments/ food etc. in the stadium. And if you think prices are high for food & drink at KI, try an NFL game. From CF's point of view, they are being sqeezed out by the big kid on the block- the NFL.

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
Santa Clara leases the land to CF. What Santa Clara wants to do is break the contract and use the land that they lease to CF and use part of it for a new stadium. Think of it this way: you sign a lease to rent a business for 10 years that includes a parking lot for customers. 5 years into the lease, the landlord decides to use that parking lot for another business and construct a building on it. Instead of giving you something in return, like another option for your customers to park, they are going to break the lease by going to court. What is going to happen to your customers, that you have a good business with, if they have no options of parking their car? And the stadium is going to be used for more than just football on Sundays. Events take place (a majority of the time) on weekends- the same time GA is it's busiest. Now there has been talk that the Raiders may use the same stadium. That would double the football events.

10 Year Old Boy Killed By Bus On Disney Property
I wonder if pedestrians allowed to walk/ run/ ride bikes on those roads? I know that at CP (which is obviously much different than Disney) people are not allowed on the access road going around the park to the hotels/ Lighthouse Point. Either way, it's a very sad story.

Boo Blasters On Boo Hill
^ It would be REALLY nice to have that type of dark ride at KI or CF. And my understanding, DK had a price tag of $20 million. Considering some of the cost of the recent coasters, that does not seen too bad.

Boo Blasters On Boo Hill
Who gives a crap date, Kings Island- Man: "Eh, remember that Boo ride back in 2010?" Woman: "Yeah, closed-minded enthusiasts concentrated on a name instead of the ride." Man: "I can't believe they would care about something that is rather meaningless. Let's go enjoy the park for what it is!"

Indy Great Xscape: 5 Yr Old Critical After Fall From Ride
Calling in a homicide detective does not bode well for the boy's condition. This story does not make sense at all. I am going to *assume* that 911 was called once it was known the boy was injured. So how were the police not notified? I hope that this story is grossly incorrect on many fronts & I hope that the boy will be ok.

Planet Snoopy Ride Names Announced!
It seems to what to have been missed is that Spongebob has been popular for the past 10 years, and is well on his way out (as can be seen- or in this case not seen on Nick) vs. Peanuts which has been popular for the past 50 years. And no, even if the Nick licensing would have been the same cost as Peanuts, it still would have been gone. The owner has the right to do what they want. Love it or leave it.

Planet Snoopy Ride Names Announced!
And what about those people that do not have cable and thus cannot watch Nickelodeon? We cannot make baseless comments/ guesses on things we have no information on. Peanuts have been around for over 50 years. There has been no new comics made for almost 10, yet, newspapers around the World still print the strips. Some of the cartoons are well over 30 years old, yet, are still shown on the major TV networks during prime time. If Peanuts were so unknown, why would major media providers still offer the Peanuts product? Now think about some of the ride that were in Nick U and were being outdated because the shows are no longer being shown, and Nick U was updated as recent as 6 years ago.

Planet Snoopy Ride Names Announced!
Really? And what are you basing this information on? Clearly, I stood outside of Cedar Point every day last season and personally interviewed every man, woman and child that went in. Then, when I told Lucy the results, she said she'd give me five good reasons and ended up waving her fist in my face. I'll give you Snoopy, but not Lucy. I was always scared of that girl. How would standing outside Cedar Point everyday last season personally interviewing every man, woman and child that went in give you accurate information on what kids are dreaming about?
