I would say that you hit the nail on the head. Even though Skyline is owned and located in KI, the park still has to follow franchise rules/ contracts. Chick-fil-a at CP is closed on Sundays per the franchise specs and TGI Fridays in HB at CP has to follow all the NUMEROUS franchise rules.

SoB's main issue is the track gauging causing the shuffling back and forth. If the park would replace the supports like TG, and the track gauging, it literally would be a whole new ride. On a side note, I miss this thread....

But isn't that what the metal detectors and security employees outside the Front Gate are for? I don't necessarily mean illegal items, just unnecessary items (i.e. I-pods, laptops, truckload of clothing etc.)

IMO, I really can't understand why people, mainly teenagers, have to bring in a backpack inside the park to begin with. Raising the cost of a locker not only can limit a person's spending in the park for items won/ purchased, it can also limit the possibility of people bringing in unnecessary items into the park.

I really don't think the CF brass cares. SoB to them is like obtaining a brother-in-law through marriage for us. It is what it is....

I have a sneaky hunch that given his rideaccidents.com banner, we are not the first to believe this individual to be a troll. Then he just adds gas to fire with his"family friend" comment, but doesn't have his facts straight to the point where they have to be edited. Given that, and many other examples that can be seen through his profile, I am happy to have an inaccurate coaster comment.

What is there to be confused about, and, where did you get the idea that there was some sort of surprise? The NFL tried it once in the bay area, it was not a boasting success, and haven't been back there since. Now other venues like Superdome in New Orleans, both the old & new stadiums in Tampa, and both the old & "new' stadiums in Miami have had multiple Super Bowls. Exactly. The NFL is more apt to go back to a previous venue, unless things do not go as planned, or, it is too difficult (i.e. Minnesota, Jacksonville etc.)

There are different degrees of greying out. I305 sounds like it has it's own catagory. I have, on a few of numerous occaisions, slightly greyed out on MF. My wife has come to the conclusion that if I talk less in line, there will be more o2 in my blood, and I have a less chance of greying out. I am anxious to try I305 this summer to see how it effects me.

Capacity, hotel availability & weather all play large factors in that determination. The new stadium does seem just large enough, I am going to *assume* there are enough hotel rooms located within (I believe) 50 miles of the event site, but the weather could be the tipping point. Santa Clara, CA has an average hi/ low temperature in February of 62/ 45 (and don't forget the SB is in early February), and February is the 2nd worst month of precipitation (January is 1st). Those averages are not exactly a draw for most people. The NFL is contemplating having the SB at the new Meadowlands in NJ. The biggest drawback- the weather. The capacity is over 80,000, and New York city obviously has enough hotel rooms, NY is home to the NFL HQ, but the weather is the kicker. The article, curiously, does not bring up the lease agreement between SC & CF. I suggest reading the comments left by readers at the bottom link of the article. Quite intresting!

The first stand-up looping coaster is Momonga Standing and Loop Coaster is Japan. It opened in 1979 as a sit down coaster and in 1982 added a stand-up train. The ride still operates today. Now I think where the wires are getting crossed is that the Japan coaster was not an original stand-up coaster whereas KC was. It has the the most accurate information. There have been numerous "facts" listed in this thread, but most of them are rather "tainted". Nice pictures though!

I have to disagree. Sure, I am completely and totally of the persuasion that Cedar Fair might've said to Intamin, "You know this doesn't have to be as good as Millennium, you know?" (a plan that, if true, seems to have backfired). But I don't think Cedar Fair spend money (perhaps more importantly, time) by adding a trim break to the first hill. If they would close the ride and bring in Intamin and have a new break installed there, I doubt "letting Millennium Force win" would even be in the top ten reasons why. CF is not going to pull a Paramount (i.e. SoB shorter than Beast) and add a trim break because it is faster than MF. Where do people come up with this conspiracy theory stuff? The powers that be at CF can do the math and realize that MF is going into it's 11th season, it can't be a record breaker or be the fastest forever, even in their own park family. Not to mention, CF built a certain 420' coaster shortly after the debut of MF that goes considerably faster. What motivation would they have to slow down I305 vs. MF? It makes no sense. Now they will add a trim if the "greying out" becomes an issue with park guests. Check out this video, courtesy of Rob at TPR: If Rob, who has probably been on more coasters then the average bear, is "greying out", than I would have to assume that it will be a more intense effect on the average park guest. Enthusiasts love it. The others? Well I can see it scaring the he!! out of them. Coasters are built for the majority, not the minority. And face it, enthusiasts are the minority. I also do not believe that CF would incur any cost to add the trim. CF has a contract with Intamin for certain specs. The weatherman has a difficult time predicting tomorrow's weather let alone weather 10 days from now. I wouldn't lose any sleep over a 10 day outlook forecast. It will probably change 5 more times before the 17th.

Great pics! Hersheypark is one of my favorite parks. For anyone that wants to get an idea of what KI was like before Paramount, take a trip to Hershey. You will not be disappointed.

My wife bought another brand of ketchup other than Heinz- once. I made her promise me that she would never do that again. There are just a few things that you have to get a name brand for: Heinz Ketchup Hellman's Mayo Any name brand toilet paper Campbell's tomato soup Smucker's jelly Red Gold must have given CF a sweet deal to make the change. I doubt it will effect food sales though. When someone wants a hot dog or fries, I have never heard the order start out with "What kind of ketchup do you have?"
