  1. If you were not referring to popularity & line length, then I misunderstood. Can you explain what you mean by line length that does not refer to popularity? I also find it difficult to compare Beast & SoB when it comes down to line length. Beast has been around since 1979 and has had excellent uptime vs. SoB which has been around since 2000 and has had (rough number) about 60% uptime during that time. The opportunities to ride Beast vastly outweigh SoB.
  2. The Bat Isn't that what International Street, especially the fountain, are for?
  3. ^Yes, SoB was a major attraction in the park, but how long a line is does not determine how popular a ride is. Blocking, train capacity, dispatch times, single riders, time of day, ride placement, handicap riders, and uptime (and other contributing factors) will result in line length. Yes, people will run to the biggest ride near the park entrance when the park opens. This happens at many parks (i.e. Raptor @ CP, Apollo's Chariot @ BGE etc.) Think about why SoB is so mysterious. The loop removal, new trains, constant track modifications, constant issues, constant downtime, constant media attention. The ride has been a mystery since day one- you never know what you are gonna get. And consider the amount of downtime SoB has had since 2000. There have been many people that have not had the opportunity to actually ride SoB as they are only able to get to KI once a year.
  4. And, since SoB's uptime has been poor at best, people were always wondering if the issues were fixed and would try it out when the opportunity presented itself. I've been waiting in that line hoping for a different ride. Needless to say, I couldn't remember my name after the ride let alone how the ride actually was.
  5. I am not trying to disagree with you, but, I have a difficult time believing that any ride, especially one that has had as much downtime as SoB, would have that much of a negative effect on season pass sales. KI was a great park before SoB, and it will continue to be a great park if a decision to remove it is made.
  6. well not exactly, depending on what all is open ERT can sometimes send the park into the red with the costs of paying operators, running rides, keeping park services working later, etc. It just all depends. Do you happen to have the accounting books on that? It would make for some intresting reading.
  7. Why are people obsessed with ride removal?
  8. I don't have the accounting books in front of me, so I really have no idea on how much an ERT event is, or how much it costs the park to host a ERT event. But what I have seen is that a ERT event is usually a paid event, and the money the park receives is more than they would make by being closed.
  9. Uh, good thing I said usually...
  10. The food pricing is terrible. But KI, by far, is not alone. As I have mentioned before, being a Browns season ticket holder the food beverage prices are crazy expensive at the stadium. I did call to complain/ question the Browns about the pricing, and I was startled by the response. They simply said that the prices are looked at every year. The cost is always looked at every year. Not only the cost of the food itself, but the cost of staffing, training, licensing, disposal, and most importantly, cleaning. The more people that eat and use the facilities, the more it costs any company. It really does s^(k, but it is what it is.
  11. But is it the people that are going to these great lengths, or is the park looking to make a buck by not having people wait in line and walk the midways promoting themselves with food shops, games, merchandising etc.? People waiting in lines don't spend much money. And the ERT events are usually a paid event, thus the park will make money at times they usually would not.
  12. So, how long was the wait for that ride?
  13. No, we do have the information, but unlike you, I am not willing to throw people's opinions away just becasue they gave it online. And you can try and throw as much useless data around, but that information is also online, so it can be discarded just like people's opinions. And yes, having an opinion and backing it up is our job. Welcome to the glorious World of a forum.
  14. No, I understand the point quite well. Yet, you have to form a general consensus from the information given, and the information is not just from enthusiast sites: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...07210931AAcZxeY http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM1ZVK_...Kings_Island_OH http://www.epinions.com/reviews/trvl-Famil...ts_Kings_Island http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-14784.html http://www.oxfordpress.com/news/oxford-new...ers-186193.html http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayton...son-243002.html http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/spr...owComments=true And the list can go on. Now, just take a look at the comments made. It is quite easy to see who is an enthusiast, and who is not. And even then, the comments made by the non-enthusiast are extremely similar to enthusiast sites. I have a difficult time believing that all the comments are just a coincidence and should be discarded because you believe that it is just an enthusiast's opinion. And even then, how often do enthusiasts actually agree upon ANYTHING? Yet the majority agrees that SoB is terrible? You are letting your own opinion cloud your education for sound reasoning.
  15. There is nothing psychological about people's opinions. The opinions are documented for the public to view. If the ride was well liked, it would receive good reviews, since it is not well liked, the majority of the reviews are negative. We can only go upon the information provided and found, and in that information, it is clear where the majority stands.
  16. I don't have to pick anyone. Choose any coaster, travel, or information site and read the comments on SoB. It's clear where the majority stands.
  17. Really? Show me where the majority does not believe this....
  18. And which group means more to the park?
  19. ^ Paramount was going green. I like that!
  20. While I'm not looking for comfort, I'm not looking for pain either. I'm looking for a fun time. SoB was not fun at all. Like I've said before; SoB was the only coaster after I rode it, I needed a break. Many others? Really? Do you mean members of KIC, or the majority of park goers?

  22. ^ It was new last year? I thought it was new due to the 2009 release date in the information, but perhaps DirectTV had their info wrong. And they were: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1292569/
  23. ^ So it would be cheaper to put more money into *improving* the ride that has already been *improved* numerous times, than to throw in the towel and proclaim SoB is a lemon by taering it down? One decision spends more money with a low percentage of success, the other spends money with guaranteed results.
  24. On a side note; did anyone catch the new Muppets Christmas special last night? It was great! And my kids who are unfamiliar with the Muppets thought they (the Muppets) were new. It was refreshing to go "old school".
