  1. Is there anything worse then thinking about exploring a closed casket? You don't want to open it, for fear of what is inside. But you have to open it, just to see what is inside. *chills*
  2. While it is too bad for your friend, he would have the same resources of predicting the weather as the park does. Now if the park would have announced being closed yesterday, and the weather would ended up being beautiful, there would be more upset people. And along with that, if the park did open the gates, and nothing operated due to weather, then the park would be accused of "stealing" money from guests. There is no good solution here, and the park held out to make the decision as long as they could.
  3. Screamscape will use information/ rumors gained from other sites and use them as their own. I can't tell you the numerous times that a information piece or rumor has been posted here, and then show up on Screamscape a short time later, with only "Screamscape sources" mentioned. It got so bad years ago, sites were posting completely false information just to see if Screamscape would pick up on it. Back in 2005/ 2006 when rumors were running rampant about CP's new coaster for 2007, Screamscape posted that the ride would be a Screaming Squirrel, then posted the ever popular Aqua Trax rumor, until a CP employee was able to get a hold (steal) of the actual Maverick information and then posted that. Incidentally, after Maverick's information was posted, the previous rumored ride posts disappeared giving a false impression to readers. Even the now famous "Magnum is sinking" rumor made Screamscape for a period of time until it was realized that it was purely a joke. My understanding is that things have improved at Screamscape, but IMO, that site is a useful as Wiki.
  4. Back in 2000 for Super Bowl XXXIV in Atlanta- $50 for parking. You could take out "Cedar Fair" in your comment and insert in a majority of businesses and it would still be true.
  5. Jumping over/ under the handrails is line jumping, it is also unsafe and should be dealt with by the ride operators. If the operators are not paying attention to the queue lines for line jumping/ smoking etc., especially when it is not busy, then they are not doing their job. The queue should be "condensed" up so guests do not have to "jump" over anything.
  6. A decision has been made. The ride is closed.
  7. So are you saying that if a family cannot do the park in a day, they won't come? I'm just looking for a little clarification.
  8. ^ And that is why I mentioned July 1st. Oh well...
  9. Yeah, that day makes the conversation completely different.
  10. Wow, where to begin... Just because Ohio Department of Agriculture has cleared the ride for operation does not mean the park has to re-open the ride. And in the article that started this whole thread, http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009072...nearly+complete KI spokesman Don Helbig is quoted: And in that whole article, this comment stands out: The park is taking the safe route concerning SoB. They never lied about anything. The ride is/ was down for maintenance. If that maintenance does not prove to be successful or to the standards that the park is looking for, then the ride will remain closed until a decision is made. Why would the park open the ride, just for "last rides" and then close it again? That would be foolish. The park does not believe that SoB is in proper working order, and will remain closed. Period. People's personal feelings for the "chance at a last ride" does not outweigh safety. I applaud CF for making the correct "judgement" call in not re-opening the ride, even though state investigators cleared the ride for operation. Six different investigations in 9 years. That is a huge burden of liability on the park's shoulders. They certainly don't want a 7th investigation. Along with that, if the park would have re-opened the ride, any yahoo could get on the ride and claim another injury. And if that injury would make it to court, who is more believable? The innocent rider, or the park for operating a ride that has has 6 investigations? The park keeping quiet about SoB's status is the safest course of action. And let's get the facts straight. It was announced that CF purchased Paramount Parks on May 22nd, 2006 and completed the purchase on July 1st, 2006. SoB's serious accident where part of the structure broke happened July 9th, 2006. So Paramount wasn't even around to "deal with the 2006 issue, it battled it head on with questions and answers."
  11. You think so? I don't find theming to be CF's forte either. They've had a few installs that suit the area in name and sometimes look... but overall THEMING isn't their gig. I'm sure you already know this, but I feel it needs to be mentioned anyway. CF does not claim to have theme parks. Sure, they will put little effort to theme a ride, but that's it. Paramount claimed to be a theme park, and it was their decision to place rides in certain areas i.e. Tomb Raider in Rivertown, FoF in Congo etc.
  12. "Shoot the Pumkins Charlie Brown" I like that one! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kings_Island#Planet_Snoopy
  13. She probably had her head turned to look/ talk with with someone, and the train turned without her expecting it.
  14. Ok, so what could they have handled differently to help things?
  15. ^ National Enquirer is right on occasion too.
  16. Big Dipper was auctioned off to a moving company who made the purchase for an undisclosed buyer. http://www.wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=91687 And CP does not have a space issue. This has been a myth for about 30 years now, and somehow they seem to keep building the park up more and more. And whenever they finally do run out of room, CP has land along Rye Beach Road for a new parking lot. LONG term plans are to either shuttle or monorail guests in. As far as future place for a ride: CP has had Demon Drop on the selling block since 2005. That area has a decent size footprint especially if incorporates part of the parking lot next to it. The way I look at it, you don't put a ride up for sale unless you have plans for that area. And planning for a ride generally takes 3-5 years, and perhaps even longer for bigger projects, you could see something big go in there. Or I am completely wrong and talking out my a$$. 17. http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/...-magic-mo-5502/ I guess in time we will see if CF really cares about the "title" or not. One thing is certain, the CP 2011 rumors will be running rampant.
  18. You really feel that SoB's issues are due to CF's sending out mixed signals & creating mass confusion? Really? The ride has had numerous incidents/ accidents (many prior to CF aquisition), after being cleared as safe to ride. Are you suggesting that CF go through the same process again to deem the ride safe? Putting my feelings aside for SoB; given any other ride, if ride "X" had an issue, and that issue was investigated then fixed, and then ride "X" had another issue, why would going through the same motions again make sense? Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.
  19. ^ Not sure where the "jerk" thing came from or how you came to that feeling, but it was clear that the ride was staying, and that it would not be themed to Scooby. Why it took Screamscape's indication on 9/30/09 and not the information gained here on 9/16/09 is rather surprising. Sorry if you felt "scooped" newsguy.
  20. Honestly, does it really matter? It's not like there is a specific time frame for it to be dismantled if it not going to operate again. Drachen Fire at BGW was SBNO for almost 4 years while trying to sell it. I'm willing to bet that if SoB does not operate again, it will still be SBNO for at least one more season.
  21. Scobby is not; but most of the cartoons for Scooby do, had monsters and alliens in them. The mystery was a scarry theme, Scooby and Shagy were always scared. Well I tell you what, nothing is more suspenseful than waiting for the Great Pumpkin, or the little red haired girl.
  22. ^ Check this out: http://comics.com/peanuts Or you can head to Barnes and Noble's and pick up a book with a collection of Charles M. Schulz's comic strips. http://books.barnesandnoble.com/search/res...nuts&DREF=1
  23. ^^ And now, you must choose a punishment. 1. Get dipped into boiling oil -or- 2. Ride SoB 20 consecutive times Choose. Choose wisely.
  24. So you will take Screamscape's word over BoddaH's? In short, wow... They're not removing the ride all together...
