  1. I would think the biggest reason to wait would be money. Deconstruction costs will not be small, and I highly doubt CF has that cost in their 2010 budget.
  2. Your timeline is incorrect. PKI sued back in November of 2000, after SoB's initial season, not prior to SoB's opening. http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2000/11/2...sland_sues.html
  3. They said they'd make a decision after the season's out, but that still doesn't mean any kind of announcement's coming soon. It's very unlikely you'll hear anything until AT LEAST the start of the new year. ^ You are right. The park has ZERO motivation to announce any decision on SoB right now. Why? Because why drum up more attention on SoB than it has already received in the last week due to the lawsuit and settlement? I would say news on SoB will be non-existant till close to opening day 2010.

  5. Now that the move has officially been announced, I wonder what the lines will be like this weekend? Because we all know what a real "people mover" DD is. I can remember when DD was rather new and waiting in lines of almost 2 hours.
  6. Currently, Demon Drop at Cedar Point, Torre do Terror, at Beto Carrero World, Brazil, Hollywood Tower, at Movie Studios Park, Italy, and those at Toshimean and Central Park in Japan are the only remaining Intamin first generation Freefall rides in operation that I know of. Anyone else have more info? As far as that area being used for a wood coaster, it would look great there. But, CP has had issues with their neighbors (those $1,000,000+ homes north of the parking lot) complaining about the noise in years' past. The noise complaints go back as far as Avalanche Run. I hope that would not have an influence on their decision.
  7. So because of some bad press/ bad decisions they should disclose future plans? When I was in business, I learned that no matter how hard you try, you cannot please everyone.

  9. So you don't believe everything you here in an advertisment? That is called step one. Step two is weeding out the bullcrap from the truth.

  11. From what I can find, DD was listed for sale mid August, 2005.
  12. Why do you believe that moving DD is the start of a rotation program?
  13. Is it so hard to acknowledge she was actually injured? And not in an isolated incident, but in an accident that injured over 20 others as well. This isn't the normal "I slipped on your sidewalk and am going to sue for millions" type of case. I am astonished that you can claim all she has is a bum hip? You are not a doctor, nor were you in the courtroom to hear/ see all the evidence. If her claim was meritless, the jury would have seen through it. KI had an attorney, just like she did, to discount her story. I am sorry that your father has physical issues, but why even bring that up? Normal wear and tear on a person's body cannot be compared to suffering an injury that could not have been prevented by the victim. It really sounds as if you are taking the SoB accident personal due to your father's condition. I've done the same thing when I have emotional ties to an incident, everyone has. And how can you "almost guarantee" she is going to blow the money? Do you know her on a personal level? And even if she does blow the money, the only person she hurts is herself in the long run. And do you actually believe that KI would end up settling without a guarantee that she cannot come back after them?
  14. Probably beats Drop Tower? Have you been on DT? Because the way it sounds, you haven't. I will agree about DD over PT. But when it comes to drop rides, the best I've been on is Sky Screamer at Marineland.
  15. The only thing surprising about this is that it is rumored to be moving to Knott's. I was expecting demolition. The ride has been for sale for 4 years, so CF has certainly given people opportunity to get their "last rides" in. I am also shocked about how people are "sad" about DD. We should all remember the last time CP removed an aging ride, and how sad we were then, including myself. But today, there sits Maverick, and I hardly (if ever) hear complaints of WWL's removal. So I'll put my faith into CP's decisions. You cannot even come close to comparing the two rides. BBW is unique, and one of the best, if not the best, suspended coasters out there. At least DD is being moved as opposed to being dismantled permanently. We should also wait for the official word from the park, we may only have a few crumbs of the whole story.
  16. (emphasis added) Really? And only your hands got cold? Terpy, being bad...again Chaps. Don't forget the chaps.

  18. So you rode a water ride, and didn't expect to get wet? Really?
  19. ^ Read these: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...c=20016&hl= http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18995
  20. Why? The average October temperature for them is about 61°. Mid 40's for them would be like mid 20's for you. Now add in rain. Who would go? Not everything is a conspiracy theory. Many times the most obvious reason to do things, is the actual reason.
  21. Where did you read that? I have only seen that she is suing for current medical & potential medical bills. I have not seen any claims of not being able to perform everyday duties. http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/crime/...day-346078.html
  22. It's a good thing that the maximum amount she can receive in $250,000. Because I tell you what, if the park does not believe she should be able to do those everyday things, she deserves more. Now if the video showed her doing extracurricular activites like: volleyball, basketball, running, excercising then they would have good evidence. But if that's the best they got with a PI taking hidden video, it is not much. I think the park lost the case right with their own video. Like Dr. Paley said: Video can't determine the future.
  23. You really need to read the whole thread, you missed this: While you think it is "ludicrous" to check every single bolt, I think it is "ludicrous" to not guarantee ride safety. And if the only way to guarantee safety is to go over everything with a fine tooth comb, then so be it. And since you brought up Enterprise Rent-a-Car, do they have a car that has a poor history like SoB? If so, then yes, it should be inspected daily, or taken off the road. What engineers? The same ones that KI sued back in 2000? Yeah, that gives me warm fuzzy feelings to use the same engineers that built SoB to what it has become and have them come up with a safety procedure.
