^ The pictures are definately OM at CP. Tou can see the water tower & PT in the third pic. Also- OM at CP was introduced in 1981- just like the ad mentions. I heard rumors it was possibly for sale, or, that it was going to be moved to another location in the park. I hope that this is not true. I would certainly leave a hole in CP's flat ride lineup.

Comparing videos between rides does no justice for either ride. There are WAY too many variables like: type of camera used and how the camera was mounted being the biggest variables off the top of my head. That said, you really hit the nail on the head of what I was joking around with. Rides like MS and Beast also have a reputation of being rough and each has been around much longer than SoB. I do agree that both rides are on the rough side, but neither compare to SoB's roughness. Both rides have had complaints, but, neither have had the numerous injury complaints as SoB. Even aside from the injury complaints, there has never been another ride that has had the issues like SoB and still operates today. I can relate to your feelings as I felt the same way in 2000 when I made the trek to KI, only to find SoB down numerous times. Finally, I was able to get on it, and boy, was I disappointed. The ride looks to be magnificent as there is no other ride that is as impressive looking as SoB. But that is where the thrill ended. The ride was not fun. It was also the first ride that I ever had to take a break from riding other rides. Both owners of the park must have also known about SoB's issues as they tried numerous times to make the ride more enjoyable for most people by pouring in millions of dollars on modifications with little to show in the end. If it wasn't broke, then why fix it? That particular HH SoB was not operating on some nights. In all seriousness... SoB is closed due to the numerous injury complaints, and amount of money spent w/o ride improvement. To believe that SoB has been shut down due to one issue is just ignorance of reality.

I can imagine. Waldameer is always packed when there is a fireworks display. That is why a couple years back, the park started a policy that required a ride-a-rama for everyone under 19 not accompanied by a parent after 3:00pm on firework days. The park normally has free entry. I'm sure it was even worse this year since Waldameer was one of a few places in our that actually had fireworks for the 4th. The normal "Boom on the Bay" was cancelled due to funding issues.

GRAB THE HOSES! A roll of quarters, and a kid with an appetite for destruction, could make for some messy rides & midways.

^^ I really don't think you understand our point. Every rumor from many enthusiast sites (including Wiki) gets posted to ScreamScape with zero credible sources. Of all the rumors posted, one will eventually be correct. Then when the official announcement is made, all the other rumors get deleted except for the one that was correct. Other sites have actually set ScreamScape up and purposely started an outlandish rumor just to see how long it would take for it to pop up. The "sources" ScreamScape uses are usually sites like KIC. Before Maverick was announced, it was announced on ScreamScape that the ride would be an Aquatrax. Then, when it was quite apparent it was not an Aquatrax, that post disappeared. Even here: http://www.KICentral...opic=11507&st=0 It was rumored that a steel coaster was to be removed at CP before 2010. Did it ever happen? Even when DB was rumored, ScreamScape posted that there was concern that the atmosphere of Beast would be compromised. Obviously that didn't happen. Also, it was posted that DB would have a first drop of 210', 2nd drop of 170', and 3rd drop would be 240' using the terrain. Even when ScreamScape announced that Swan lake was drained, according to their "sources", it was first announced here. Why not just come out and say the truth? http://www.KICentral...c=11233&st=1170 I won't even get into the unethical posts ScreamScape has drummed up.

The reasons for maint. to be on the platform (which is still speculation) can be attributed to many things other than track repair/ modification. They could be using the platform as a staging area for building Halloween Haunt sets or other projects. They could be removing platform parts to be used in other parts of the park. As far as the "red pieces" seen on the track- those could be used as a bridge to get from one side of the platform to another as it is unsafe to jump across the track.
