  1. The bolts corroding from the inside of the car due to the winter weather & salt on the midway does not add up. Both the snow & salt would have to come from the ground to the undercarriage. It's not exactly an easy place to get to unless a huge plow truck is literally plowing snow from the midway onto the cars themselves and the snow melt runoff gets under the cars covering. FHCS are either blackened steel to prevent corrosion or stainless steel which does not corrode. The ODoA final report will be an interesting read.
  2. I guess it makes the most sense to use the gondola to reach the areas that need painted and whoever is doing the painting have some grandes bolas......
  3. I can remember back in the 80"s the sign: "Line Jumping is not a Sporting Event at Kings Island" and while it likely still happened, guests were definitely more respectful of each other back then. In today's world many feel entitled to the point the rules do not apply to them. Phones out on rides, careless/ reckless driving, a general attitude of my time is more important than your time etc. The entitlement list is massive. Even though many may not agree, I still feel paid line jumping with Fast Lane only encourages the act, but that perk is not likely going anywhere. How about KI & other parks use some of the Fast Lane revenue and add some security to the more problematic queue lines on days we all know it is going to be busier? A zero tolerance policy on both line jumping & use of phones on rides would also be a step in the right direction.
  4. *There used to be little to no issues that were publicized like they are today. As the amount of B & M rides increase so does the opportunity of a ride malfunctioning.
  5. SF financial position is not as bad as many think it is. If SF is serious about selling, the park needs to be updated with fresh rides that bring in guests.
  6. Prozac prescription was out of date.
  7. That's what I can't figure out. Perhaps there has been too much structural "wear & tear" on the slides themselves? Was the original design intended for average of x-lbs. and the overall population is over that now? Does the increased weight allow for too much momentum and a rider could go over the side of the slide? It should also be noted that this isn't necessarily for "fat people" but those who weigh above a certain weight. On the signs no one is permitted to ride above 180kgs., which is 396 lbs. the other sign is obviously half that.
  8. https://nypost.com/2021/09/29/park-accused-of-fat-shaming-guests-with-self-weighing-stations/ Park issues apology and refund: https://www.perthnow.com.au/local-news/perthnow-central/adventure-world-ceo-andrew-sharry-issues-apology-to-customers-over-fat-shaming-pre-ride-weighing-scales-ng-b882023737z
  9. It has been said PTC allowed one side to operate backwards in 1982. When CF came into the picture and asked the PTC of their recommendation, it was obviously different than 1982. CF being self-insured likely has some impact on the decision to ask the question to PTC. PTC's recommendation likely changed due to the litigious world we live in today.
  10. Those in the Halloween decoration business have faced incredible shortages. Even with the plan below, it is easy to guess the same will happen with Christmas. https://labusinessjournal.com/news/2021/oct/04/los-angeles-ports-backlog-holiday-retail-shipments/ The company I work for is critically low in raw materials- to the point we are rationing parts to all of our customers. Steel mills have stopped taking orders due to their backlog being so massive.
  11. It's nice that the headbanging was looked into using similar restraints found on GK. Looking at the drawing concept, that patent is not a major redesign. You still sit on a bicycle seat with an adjustable column that can still make you feel like you were kicked in the gonads or put a rather uncomfortable strain on your legs. I would guess if a park was interested in this it would have been tried out on an existing stand-up.
  12. The park was less interested in what was the appropriate time in 2015 following the Raptor accident. The victim's name & exact details were released hours after the accident. https://www.google.com/amp/s/fox8.com/news/sandusky-police-investigating-accident-at-cedar-point-near-raptor/amp/
  13. It will be interesting to find out if CP has submitted any information to SR & if SR is just looking for a fight as you have suggested and seems to be the case. If CP has submitted information & SR is taking this public just to make CF look bad, is MAJOR mud on their face. The other thing I have noticed- SR seems more concerned about obtaining the public records as opposed to the well being of the injured woman.
  14. SR does deal with numerous police departments & just wants the same reporting from CP. The article of the injured guest on Raptor does have some alarming red flags. That being said- SR has had a beef with CF when VP Duff Milkie unexpectedly left earlier this year. They wanted to have a sit-down interview with CEO Rich Zimmerman about CF's direction in Sandusky and if there was a plan to officially move corporate HQ to Charlotte. That request was met with notable silence. Zimmerman did eventually sit down with Sandusky officials, but I do not believe he ever interviewed with SR. Milkie was a strong supporter of Sandusky (and Sandusky resident before joining CF) and was quite vocal about the move and the recent moves of corporate execs over the last year-ish. CF is easily Sandusky's largest employer. SR is overly concerned about the loss in tax dollars. SR is also likely taking the snub to a personal level. I live on the Southern shores of Lake Erie and will say that after the holidays are over, the return to work after New Years to St. Patrick's Day can be grueling when it comes to the weather. Dark, grey, windy, cold, snow....are not exactly attractive attributes to corporate execs & their families when the other choice is significantly milder weather. It should also be noted that Paramount Parks HQ was also based in Charlotte.
  15. Some interesting articles from Sandusky Register: https://sanduskyregister.com/news/343711/cedar-point-not-above-the-law/
  16. Unless there is a major redesign for stand up coasters, the odds of a new one are unlikely.
  17. To the typical park guest, the Golden Tickets are legitimate. To an enthusiast, we can poke holes all day in the voting.
  18. It will be interesting to hear of the results after Columbus Day/ Halloween events. Columbus Day weekend at CP is typically one of the busiest, if not the busiest, of the year- weather pending..... Will the renewed concerns of the pandemic variants effect patronage negatively?
  19. Very sad for all directly impacted. https://denver.cbslocal.com/2021/09/06/glenwood-caverns-adventure-park-closed-haunted-mine-drop-ride-death/?amp
  20. Some referring to Cedar Fair on social media sites about this decision are plain out of their mind.
  21. Flight Commander was definitely unique, but after a couple rides it was just- meh. Think of it as an aggressive Wind Seeker. Part of the queue line was under the ride platform and had a couple TVs, I do not recall if it they were for theming for the ride or just played music videos. It was nice to get out of the sun for a few minutes. There were painted Flight Commander symbols on the ground similar to Beast tracks/ Vortex track going to the queue line which added to the excitement when it first opened. *I believe* there were modifications to the restraints following the accident. The initial theory was the lady fell from the capsule after getting out of the restraints trying to get a better view of the emergency lights/ activity going on at the Beer Garden. Alcohol played a factor into the Flight Commander accident.
  22. Good to know. Was the rest of the restaurant upgraded for ADA as well?
  23. IR was not ADA accessible. For IR to meet current regulations, the ROI would be many, many years.
