Two big differences that I can see: 2 across seating vs. 4 across- the outside seats will have more pressure on the rider due to what I'm guessing is centerline over the rails not being in line with the heartline like the inside riders. Launch vs. lift hill- the bottom of the initial drop on Mantis was one one the worst spots for myself if my legs were not bent just the right way. The launch will put more stress on your body being pushed back into the restraints as opposed to being pushed down. Here is an article from 2020 on the B&M standup redesign & Seaworld: https://www.coaster101.com/2020/09/28/bolliger-mabillard-files-patent-for-stand-up-coaster-restraint/

Those Canadian geese make for some great jerky- which is about all they are good for.

This is one case I stand behind CF 100%. All businesses suffered during the pandemic & had to make difficult decisions to try and keep customers and investors both happy and stay in business while not slitting their throats by giving too much away. It was a tremendously slippery slope. For CF to extend season passes for an entire year is really going above & beyond what should be expected and any passholder should know that true value.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Browntggrr replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Are there red/ blue/ yellow/ orange/ green spray paint markings on the ground outside of the fence? That is typically a dead-giveaway that something is happening in the area. Each color signifies something underground: utilities/ sewer etc. These markings are needed before any digging is done. -
Having been around KIC for almost 19 years I have seen a bunch of stuff here & throughout many sites. KIC It really is an extremely pleasant & knowledgeable fan base. Members like: Shaggy, Terpy (his posts still make us smarter even today), BoddaH1994, Silver2005, flightoffear1996 and numerous others that I can't think of right now have contributed much in the past & some still contribute today. Yes, there are differing opinions but if everyone thought the same way it would be boring (there is another site that is like this that anyone can Review). As disco2000 mentioned, enthusiast sites on FB are incredibly annoying: "Is the park busy?" "What is the weather like in July?" "Will this ride be running next month?" "Why isn't this ride running?" "Why is traffic backed up on the causeway?" ...the nauseating list goes on AND there are multiple questions DAILY for each. I think sites like KIC are currently viewed less due to not being as easily accessible on a phone as FB, Twitter etc. Probably an app thing. It's not a knock on KIC at all, it just is what it is. KIC is a fantastic free site that will get more traction moving forward as FB gets clogged with useless crap. Now if a new coaster starts to get hinted, watch the traffic go up! BTW- any truth to DB getting struck by lightning Saturday?? It was rumored on FB.....

You & I both know that there is much more to marketing than answering, or not answering, a media request.

The best thing about free press? You don't have to say anything which only leads to more talk & the press is still free.

Some data I was able to find. Probably not perfect, but likely close. (63) log flume rides were made 1963-1985, about half are currently operating. Of those at CF parks: (5) are operating (10) have been removed, not necessarily by CF Another Intamin failure...*SHOCKER*

I personally think younger kids (13-17) get a bad rap. Most of my experiences with these incidents are with people 18+ that have an entitled attitude- "You can't tell me what to do" or "You can't tell me no." Some have forgotten how to respect others. It's a small fraction that do crap like this but since everyone has a camera in their pocket everything gets seen- even the stuff that wasn't that big of a deal but gets dramatized so much that it is seen as a riot.

Uncivil people are everywhere today. The cost of the event, or lack of cost of the event, is not the issue. Park enthusiasts gripe about pass cost due to wait times. My hometown park is Waldameer in Erie, PA and the majority of the rides are geared to families. While the park is free to walk around a majority of the time, the holidays require all guests to pay for entry. It's during these times when foolish & violent incidents happen. Waldameer has eliminated fireworks to combat the unruliness and the crap still happens. I personally point the finger at the fallout of social media. Some people cannot differentiate between being able to say anything (which is interpreted as doing anything they want) they feel on social media (which has little to no repercussions) vs. being able to do anything when other physical people are involved.

Too true & I thank you for your service as it is very underappreciated. Our family has enjoyed going out to the movies the past couple weekends only to find that the arcade closes early due to some individuals not being able to be civil with each other. Our Cinemark Tinseltown is located in the "tourist" area of Erie so location is not the issue.

Screamin' Demon to Demon Scooby Doo to Beastie to Fairly Odd Coaster to Woodstock Express (whew...) Racer before recaR with red white & blue track (oh....wait.... )

KI needs the media to have a follow-up article that the individual(s) involved have received a lifetime ban to the park and have also been prosecuted to the fullest extent. At some point people committing infractions (fighting, smoking, cell phones out on rides etc.) need to be held accountable and make it publicly known what the ramifications are. The idea that parks sweeps this stuff under the rug & we never hear about it again could be hurting the park more than helping. It's terrible that parks get blamed for these things instead of the actual people committing them.

Good to hear that there was no collision and that the safety measures put into place surrounding previous collisions worked. Imagine if Intamin could finally take a page from B&M's safety book & learn from previous failures....

With the amount of new track work done this year I would venture to guess that a full course train pull-through would be necessary to test possible points of contact riders could have with the structure(s). During the pull-through is where some may have misinterpreted that a train valleyed.

Same thing happened to a glass my wife was gifted from her mom upon graduating from LPN school & a shot glass I purchased at Super Bowl LII She was devastated, I purchased a "new" glass for her. Guess the old saying applies here: They don't make them like they used to......

I was wondering the same about the winter or if the decision was made to start the refurb in November after HH knowing that the impact of Beast being down in May is less than during night rides in October.
-
This is really spot on. Parks have to decide what to cater to and spend a great chunk of change: the guest that will enjoy their once a year trip and want a ride or the enthusiast who looks for anything to complain about. It's no surprise for all the visual upgrades for the anniversary. It's also not a surprise that some are bummed about a new coat of paint at the cost of a new ride.

My first visit was in 1978 when I was 4 going on 5. My parents & my aunt went on a Sea World/ Cedar Point/ KI trip. Beast announcement was already made & we saw the layout display. Dad made sure we went back in 1979. I was able to get on Screamin' Demon in 1978 (this was after not getting on the brand new Gemini @ CP). My aunt, who despises coasters, thought the ride was over after the first loop and started to squirm her way out of the OTSR. My mom had to pull her back in as the train started to go backwards.....quite the humorous family story now, rather stressful then..... I can remember lunch/ early dinner at IR, the monorail and the original Enchanted Voyage. I can also remember the cotton candy/ candy apple smell late in the day in Coney Mall near the entrance to Racer (this is after the distinct smell of blacktop during the heat of the day). KI was just a magical place for us. To see what it has grown to today & also bring my kids is simply an awesome feeling.

Blueprint under 50th Anniversary Bag hinting at something?
Browntggrr replied to KI Fan75's topic in Kings Island
CF really has done great with generating interest in new attractions. Or interest in nothing at all........
