  1. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
  2. Enthusiasts visit the park easily more often during a season than anyone else. Guests that visit the park 1-2 times per year will typically see "new" things and don't sweat the small stuff. For enthusiasts that visit 6+ times per year, there is nothing new to see, and typically look for things to change.
  3. This reason is, at best, vague. It sounds more of a personal hope than a reason. As opposed to 15+ years ago, records are a minor part of a ride's attraction today. The competition for -est between parks became so tainted (i.e. highest full circut coaster, fastest coaster in midwest, most coasters at one park) and changed so often, it has turned off guests. Also- you really need a more in depth explanation than safety as to why SoB closed? And there has been no notice of SoB being closed? Really? You must be joking.... The last time a park goer did zero planning and traveled down the holiday road; a moose was assaulted, park security was treated like a dog with another park security member being shot in the behind with a BB gun. Why not? What does a SBNO ride hurt? Other parks have down the same thing. How does anyone know what is in line next for an update/ remodel, and, if an update/ remodel did happen to be true for AZ, you believe KI has waited to work on SoB for the supposed update/ remodel date? I can sense your frustration with a ride that can be seen, but not enjoyed, but honestly, grasping onto dream scenarios is a set-up for disappointment.
  4. Why do you believe SoB deserves 1 more chance & what makes you believe it is 2013?
  5. As terrible as it seems to be, today's younger generation does not (and really can't) find the allure of Jaws to be exceptional as the generation that can recall the 1975 movie when it first came out much like Beast is considered to be a great ride by many of the older generation KI fans but is a over-hyped coaster by many of today's enthusiasts. I was shocked to find out Jaws and Amity area at Universal did have a $65 million price tag back in 1990.
  6. And what a major disappointment the offspring has been compared to it's namesake.
  7. Is that anything like: Some people grasp at straws to live a dream. Seriously. We heard you the first time you said you loved the ride. We don't need to heart it 95 times! We get it already. Why do you even post in here if you are going to just going to regurgitate the same rumors? Can't we all just agree to disagree and move on.
  8. I wonder if KI is willing to donate wood for my turkey fryer?
  9. Thinking outside the box: they can simply use: "visit us at www.visitkingsisland.com", "find us at www.visitkingsisland.com", "click on www.visitkingsisland.com for more information" etc., etc. While using "www." maybe old, it can easily solve this minor problem.
  10. I have not yet seen any raccon fur coats. Is it popular out west?
  11. PETA is certainly fighting a battle with SeaWorld that will only make them look even worse than they already do. SeaWorld (and all formerly owned Busch parks) have been, and still are, very animal friendly. Not only do they have conservation funds set-up, they are among the Worldwide leaders in animal preservation & education. It is too bad PETA uses the media to make a fantastic organization look bad for publicity. If anything, PETA should be praising SeaWorld for they have accomplished & learned through ther years.
  12. And this type of party is different than other companies have done? Budgets are approved by more people than just the CEO for these types of events. Nobody makes all the perfect decisions. I have no problem with looking at all his accomplishments, good and bad, and still find his end result to be overwhelmingly positive.
  13. Employee morale changes as fast as the weather. A local company has: a starting wage of $27/ hr, unlimited overtime that is not forced, uses piecework pay scale, a family of 4 has fantastic health insurance for $45/ week, a union contract negotiated for 5 years back in July, and hired over 1000 people this year. Employee morale is reported to be rock bottom there as well. But the story does leave an unanswered question: if Kinzel is ultimately responsible for morale, why would it be bad right now given that his days are numbered?
  14. Yeah really! For every analyst prediction, another analyst will have a completely opposite prediction. Hence the term prediction. I would like to see another person in Mr. Kinzel's similar position that has made all the right decisions.
  15. What a nice parting gift for Mr. Kinzel. And for those who insist on bashing him for every decision, the crickets are loud and clear...
  16. After thinking about this while at work: I can see where some may not agree with Waldameer's decision, but also understand Waldameer has free entry for everyone (which is unique for most parks). The only way to ride the rides is to use a Wally Card. Simply put- cash is not accepted to ride the rides, why not just cut out cash transactions completely and make riding/ purchases consistant throughout the park?
  17. The question now is whether they will use school glue or super glue? Given some of the "rumors", I would have to say school glue.
  18. Wow, to have all these terrible things possibly happen, it is hard to imagine debit cards, credit cards, gift cards or gift certificates ever became popular!
  19. Given this topic, there is, without a doubt, more than enough glue.
  20. How about not regurgitation the same possible rumor over and over (hence the "beating a dead horse" comments). The prop was there last year. It was discussed (beat to death) last year. What happened this year? Nada. It meant nothing then, and it's safe to say, it means the same thing now. Which goes back to enthusiasts believing everything in the park has a hidden meaning, and everything (including decisions) done with the enthusiast in mind. Yup, this is a rumor section. Every possible rumor has been discussed to the point most "rumors" are just either a poor attempt at grasping at straws or just plain fiction. If there is some kind of new "rumor", great let's hear it. If it is about a Halloween prop, we have been there, done that, it is just a prop. That was confirmed this year when nothing happened. Believing it actually means something this year is just denying reality.
  21. ^ Yes, it is quite obvious you have taken none of this seriously. Please take your own advice, if you don't want to hear reality, don't click on this topic.
  22. Simple Enough? Wow Browntggrr. You don't seem like the type of person to take orders from someone else. I am no way trying to argue with you, for I see the point you are trying to make, but I also think you are stretching this quote a little. I could be off here, but this quote is Don representing KI. In my opinion it reads more like "It would be inappropriate (for KI) to speculate on when a decision might be made. I do not see Don saying " It is inappropriate for KI enthusiasts to speculate on the future of SOB." I didn't stretch a thing, yet simply provided a quote Mr. Helbig made back in April in an article that somehow keeps being forgotten. It is just ironic that Mr. Helbig used the same "speculation" term as a poster here. Taking his quote and attempting to decipher (or adding to) what he meant is, undoubtedly, stretching it. Like last year, the tombstone means nothing more than an attempt at humor. And just like last year while it can be fun, believing it has a serious hidden meaning is foolish. Why KI has to make a decision anytime soon is still mind-boggling to me. SoB sitting there does not hurt anyone, and certainly does not take away from the enjoyment KI continues to deliver on a day-by-day or year-to-year basis.
  23. Since you obviously did not read this article from April: http://news.cincinna...-next-Son-Beast Simple Enough?
  24. Somewhere someone is laughing at this beast of a topic because the constant reaching for clues has made many look like a horse's behind. Can Humpty Dumpty be put back together? It depends how much glue you have....
