  1. Employee morale changes as fast as the weather. A local company has: a starting wage of $27/ hr, unlimited overtime that is not forced, uses piecework pay scale, a family of 4 has fantastic health insurance for $45/ week, a union contract negotiated for 5 years back in July, and hired over 1000 people this year. Employee morale is reported to be rock bottom there as well. But the story does leave an unanswered question: if Kinzel is ultimately responsible for morale, why would it be bad right now given that his days are numbered?
  2. Yeah really! For every analyst prediction, another analyst will have a completely opposite prediction. Hence the term prediction. I would like to see another person in Mr. Kinzel's similar position that has made all the right decisions.
  3. What a nice parting gift for Mr. Kinzel. And for those who insist on bashing him for every decision, the crickets are loud and clear...
  4. After thinking about this while at work: I can see where some may not agree with Waldameer's decision, but also understand Waldameer has free entry for everyone (which is unique for most parks). The only way to ride the rides is to use a Wally Card. Simply put- cash is not accepted to ride the rides, why not just cut out cash transactions completely and make riding/ purchases consistant throughout the park?
  5. The question now is whether they will use school glue or super glue? Given some of the "rumors", I would have to say school glue.
  6. How dare HPB take an idea from Mike & Mike!
  7. Wow, to have all these terrible things possibly happen, it is hard to imagine debit cards, credit cards, gift cards or gift certificates ever became popular!
  8. Given this topic, there is, without a doubt, more than enough glue.
  9. How about not regurgitation the same possible rumor over and over (hence the "beating a dead horse" comments). The prop was there last year. It was discussed (beat to death) last year. What happened this year? Nada. It meant nothing then, and it's safe to say, it means the same thing now. Which goes back to enthusiasts believing everything in the park has a hidden meaning, and everything (including decisions) done with the enthusiast in mind. Yup, this is a rumor section. Every possible rumor has been discussed to the point most "rumors" are just either a poor attempt at grasping at straws or just plain fiction. If there is some kind of new "rumor", great let's hear it. If it is about a Halloween prop, we have been there, done that, it is just a prop. That was confirmed this year when nothing happened. Believing it actually means something this year is just denying reality.
  10. ^ Yes, it is quite obvious you have taken none of this seriously. Please take your own advice, if you don't want to hear reality, don't click on this topic.
  11. Simple Enough? Wow Browntggrr. You don't seem like the type of person to take orders from someone else. I am no way trying to argue with you, for I see the point you are trying to make, but I also think you are stretching this quote a little. I could be off here, but this quote is Don representing KI. In my opinion it reads more like "It would be inappropriate (for KI) to speculate on when a decision might be made. I do not see Don saying " It is inappropriate for KI enthusiasts to speculate on the future of SOB." I didn't stretch a thing, yet simply provided a quote Mr. Helbig made back in April in an article that somehow keeps being forgotten. It is just ironic that Mr. Helbig used the same "speculation" term as a poster here. Taking his quote and attempting to decipher (or adding to) what he meant is, undoubtedly, stretching it. Like last year, the tombstone means nothing more than an attempt at humor. And just like last year while it can be fun, believing it has a serious hidden meaning is foolish. Why KI has to make a decision anytime soon is still mind-boggling to me. SoB sitting there does not hurt anyone, and certainly does not take away from the enjoyment KI continues to deliver on a day-by-day or year-to-year basis.
  12. Since you obviously did not read this article from April: http://news.cincinna...-next-Son-Beast Simple Enough?
  13. Somewhere someone is laughing at this beast of a topic because the constant reaching for clues has made many look like a horse's behind. Can Humpty Dumpty be put back together? It depends how much glue you have....
  14. ^Or Powercards at Dave & Buster's. The same thing a bank does when their debit card/ credit card system goes down- call the IT department to reboot the system.
  15. ^It is quite the opposite. Wally Cards have gone over so well, and were used more frequently than cash in 2011, there really is no reason to use the cash option anymore.
  16. Since when was SoB first in line?
  17. The trims are not there to decrease roughness, but rather decrease maintenance expenses and increase uptime. From what I have been told, removal of the trims would cost over $1,000,000/ year and decrease uptime by almost half the operating season.
  18. Like everything else, this has to be Kinzel's fault.
  19. I don't understand how being in construction as an electrician for over 10 years qualifies a person to make a statement about the stability of a structure being seen from a distance while in motion. I bet if you told KI maintenance that you can determine a structure's stability from a distance, while in motion, they would also tell you to take a flying leap. Could SoB operate tomorrow? No. Could it operate opening day 2012? Yes. As has been said earlier in this thread, Blue Streak (1938) at Conneaut Lake Park was SBNO from end of season 2006 till September 2010. While it needed some some much needed maintenance, once the money was available in June 2010 it quickly was up and running in Sept.
  20. No idea; but it apparently was either not a big deal, or, found to be an isolated incident.
  21. Good to know. Did you happen to notice which train was on the transfer track?
  22. I have relatives at the park last night & today. They are the guests that were almost hit & gave the piece to ride ops. At this point, it could be anything. It could have been a wheel piece or an item the fell out of a ride guests' pocket that was hit by a train. If TTD is open today or tomorrow, then we know it is/ was not a big deal.
  23. An item, hot to the touch, came off the ride after launch. The item was half moon shaped, about 12" long, 4" thick, and plastic. When the item was given to a ride op, TTD was shutdown.
  24. Details are sketchy right now. As I understand it, an item came off the track and the ride was closed down. I do not believe there to be any injuries. More info to come as it becomes available.
  25. Wrestlers accusing other wrestlers of stealing ideas, that is SO original! I bet the HPB would like to see this all the way to the Supreme Court (imagine the media attention!), but I'll bet it will nevert make it out of small claims....
