  1. Yes....the Phantom Flyer is up.....it is located across from the entrance to the Wild Tornberries water ride. Pretty much where the old Nick Central sign was located
  2. Vertical constuction is progressing on Avatar.....in fact you can see the track from the highway as you drive past......it looks as though the have the camel hump completed and they are working on topping out the two end towers.......its moving very quickly!!!
  3. As an update here are some things to note...not only about Avatar, but also as NU in general. Most of the pieces for Avatar have been moved out to the site....it does not appear vertical construction has started, the pieces are just laying on the path. Plankton's Plunge has gone vertical between the old water maze and the reptar rollercoaster. Also, the Danny Phantom kite flyer has been installed roughly where the old Nick Central sign was on the edge of rivertown, and there is a concrete base for what i believe looks like a fountian in front of it. Be sure to check out pki.com to see all the new paint jobs going on.....NU is looking great!!!
  4. Actually they cant just launch the fireworks from "just anyplace" They cleared this area specifically for Nights Of Fire because of it's location. In order for the fireworks to be placed in the right location across the skyline this is the site they need to be launched from. Also do to the size of the shells that they use for this show, they had to place all new firing racks as well as dig mortor tubes into the ground......trust me, a lot of reasons and thought went into where they placed this launch site.
  5. Just as an update....The pieces are starting to dissapear from the parking lot, and I notice a crane popping through the trees thismorning. My guess is that they will have the main ride structure up by this weekend (based on how quick the progress was for the other Disko in California.)
  6. That dirt clearing was made for the main launch site for the Nights of Fire annual fireworks display. For those nights they do not use the regular launch pad, but instead use this one as the main site
  7. Just in case you haven't heard already......CP has already begun to pour what appear to be footers on the former WWL site.
  8. its been said over and over again.....this is the park model of a disko, much like what has been installed permanently in other parks there is NO trailer to this, or the other NU rides
  9. i would have put up a picture, but all i had was my phone which has a crappy camera on it....you would not be able to see anything in a picture taken with it. sorry :-(
  10. While I was driving to work today I noticed a semi trailer in the PKI parking lot. They were unloading all of the parts for the Avitar disko ride. It looks like all the pieces including the car are in the lot waiting to be taken out to their new home!!! The track seemed to have a blueish color.
  11. PKI Entertainment has already had auditions and begun casting for the summer season, which includes the Character Department. Just so your friend knows......6 foot tall is awfully tall for the costumed characters, most of the nick chacters take a shorter body.
  12. Nope....there will be two teams, but not two rides. One team is the passengers on the ride and one team is the next group waiting in the que.
  13. How is that going the cheap route?? The park is simply improving an existing popular attraction, something that probably is not as cheap as you think it is to do. Just because we are not getting the spongebob crash course....which btw, the park NEVER said we would be getting...so im not sure why you are so ****ed about it not being there.
  14. If I remember correctly the Survivor Game show was here during the 2001 season. This was a special event that was around for about a month, it happened twice a day (I think) and happened between showings of Pop Fusion, the main stage pop show that year. This was definatly one of the better shows that the park has brought in, it use to fill the theatre every time. There were different "stunts" including a triva contest, a "put the scrambled picture together" game, a game with Koosh(?) fling balls that you would knock over rows of plates (Featured in the picture) and of course the food challenge complete with whole onions, limberger cheese, sardins, anchovies, and pigs feet.......and sometimes a little lost lunch pie (lol)
  15. It should also be noted that the Entertainment Department will be auditioning instrumentalists on those audition days as well. They are looking for people to play in the band for a live show.
  16. Umm....I would have to say early to mid 90's, maybe late 80's The concept with these new boats would be a cool retrofit for WWC....however, like many other people have said I would be worried about the lack of objects to shoot with the water guns.......anyways I doubt anything like this would happen
  17. It was on the edge of Rivertown by the bathrooms, basically where the Nick Central sign has been sitting for the last few years. It was a large cage that had neeting around it inside of which there were battle tank (boats) which could shoot rubber balls (the size of tennis balls) at the observation area as well as other boats and targets hanging from the air. The balls of course could not hit the observers because of the netting. Around the perimeter of the cage were air compressed "guns" that would shoot similar balls back at the boats, you could buy balls buy the bucket to shoot. I remember I use to go around and try to find balls that had become stuck on the ledge of the cage near an opening in the net and you could pull them out and have a free ball LOL
  18. It sure would be nice to have Easter Sunday off for once....the park has always been open and employees had to work, but the park was always so empty! It will be really nice to not have to waste the day this year!
  19. Since our existing kids area is already rated that 5 years in a row, I can't imagine the new addition not maintaining that quality. And just to wiegh in on this whole Spongebob thing.......I would not expect to see any type of major Spongebob roller-coaster or darkride in the new area. BUT don't be alarmed Spongebob will definatly not be left out, he will have an entire nieghborhood in the new section dedicated to him and his friends
  20. Well yeah.......it's just like how they complained for years about having to wait in 3 hour long lines for the Psyco Path, but then the park fixes that so there is no wait, but they complain about the fact that it is a constant line going through the attraction. There is absolutely NO pleasing these people!!!!
  21. Shman

    When do they

It was not a matter of the temperature....it is a matter of all of the extra water on top as a result from the heavy rains through the week and some of the extra snow. The park was closed all week and that water sat on top of the ice, basically saterating the surface. This caused a lot of problems in the ice itself. From what I have heard talking to people that went to the beach late last week this was a problem at their event as well......it's just the matter of PKI actually closing it down because it was deemed as an unsafe condition.
  22. No....according to her signature she is the Ballerina on the Toyland float in the Christmas Parade
  23. But so then you would have to say the same thing for both the Zoo and the Beach Waterpark......because they have both reported very low attendence numbers so far this year as well. Trust me....when it comes to the numbers PKI is not the only Winter attraction that is having a very slow start this year.
  24. Yeah....but the zoo certainly doesn't have the high quality live shows, the unique train ride (with live entertainment) a wonderful Christmas Parade, a meet and greet with your kids favorite cartoon characters....in fact I think that the zoo cut all of their entertainment this year......shall I go on with all the stuff we actually have???? I know everyone is saying how overpriced the admission is.....and for one, I actually agree with it.....but when you really sit down and think about all the high quality stuff you can do at WinterFest, and how nice the park looks....and just the atmosphere in general. I think....yes it is overpriced.....but I still think it is all worth it!!
  25. The main stage at festhaus is not used for any entertainment, just as the background. With the removal of over half of the original stage the current festhaus stage is not big enough to house any show. And yes.....that Deja Vu feeling is correct.....Santa's Toyshop is indeed a updated revival of a previous WinterFest show, in fact it is the show that was in that theatre the very last year of WinterFest.
