I still say it would be awesome to have a monorail that goes across the two properties. One with 3 stops; GWL, Main Gate, Boomerang Bay. Imagine the connection between the properties.....very "Disney-esque"

Trust me....competing with the Beach had nothing to do with Winterfest not returning. Winterfest could easily compete with Holidayfest if they would have just marketed a little better and lowered prices. When you add in things like all the live entertainment and stuff PKI had more to do than the beach. I don't think there was much competition at all.

I will agree whole-heartedly, the park needs more than one show. This past year was very dissapointing, but again pretty much knew that was going to happen with the cost cutting tactics CBS was taking. I can tell you this much though, we are going to see an improvement in the entertainment department this year. From what I've heard there is going to be more shows.....and the return of somethings everyone is going to enjoy.

Ummm....no, not true at all. They closed the show on that weekend because that is when the show was scheduled to close for this year. Beyond that I will ignore the comments about them not being able to find people who can play the guitar. PKI found some very talented musicians over the last 2 years to play in the School of Rock show, and the music was live.....not some cheesy backing track like most of the other shows you will find in theme parks (including Disney and Universal). I will agree with people listening to/enjoying music that has been processed beyond belief and not having any respect for real talent anymore. However....the musicians in both casts of School of Rock have not been those types of people, in fact most of them play in bands outside the park, including 2 or 3 that have played in bands who have signed with labels and have recorded for CDs.

The last thing that I have heard is that they are currently working on reopening the IR.....not as a Friday's (although that was talked about heavily a few years ago), but as another resturant that has already been named on here.

Seasons Greetings from PKICentral.com

They werent moved......there has always been KC track back at the fireworks site. Quite a bit of track and supports. -
The coaster I would still love to see at KI would be an ArrowBatic......sadly with Arrow having gone under, I doubt that this coaster design will ever be built :-( What a great family coaster that looked like.

Except it is expected when you read about a "attraction/area" called Holiday Horror.....where the description even talks about evil elves and snowmen. I'm sorry, but I'm still in the camp of saying "If you get offended because you didnt pay attention to the warnings then it's your fault, not the parks." FearFest is an event that is not meant to be family friendly, it is meant to offend, scare, frighten people....either know that going into it, or read the warnings listed at the front of the park and the attractions and dont CHOOSE to go in. I'm sick of hearing about people who were "offended", especially when they try to use the religion card.....Holiday Horror had nothing to do with any religion, and if you are really that religous what are you doing at a FearFest event anyways? *climbs down from his soapbox*

True....but that Drop Tower was also suppose to be one of those early Intamin ones, where there is 4 cars (one on each side) like Hellevator at SFKK. I like the fact that KI held off on those plans and went for the newer gyro drop.

During the first weekends of FearFest this year it seemed like the "hot spot" was in the Paramount Story.....that is, until they added that ScreamStreet area.
-
Please....they didnt predict anything. All they were doing was making an April Fools Joke.....they didn't "claim" any prediction back then, nor lately. Now....if you had said Good Job, or Thank You to the PKICentral poster who was first on site with the proof pictures of the missing loop.......tehehee

Something's Happening at Fort Cooper!

like the other parks?? The only park with "Survivor" the ride is PGA. Besides....why would we get that when we got basically the same ride just with different seating arrangement and not interactive elements? -

Before I get flamed please understand that I am just playing devil's advocate here because I think the debate on this topic is fun. But who's to say that they didnt use the on-site cherry picker to do the removal of track and all they needed the crane for was to pull down the steel? That could be possible since that cheery picker lift is used everyday to inspect and maintain the wood track on the loop -

Thank you Cedar Fair?? The update was done through this site and members of the staff here...they have nothing to do with Cedar Fair. Actually NO, its not a big surprise.....considering those pictures were took days before the rumor of the removal and sighting of the crane even happened. -
Yes you were supposed to converse with them.....that was the point of that zone. It was a meet and greet zone, the whole entertaining aspect came from actually talking to the drunken santa and the ****ed off elf.
-
I know that most people here are sad that Cedar Fair didn't give Winterfest a second chance this year at PKI....so I thought I would pass along some pictures I found showing that at least they have given some of the decorations and equipment a second chance. As most of us here have already heard Cedar Fair shipped out a lot of decorations from both PKI and Carowinds to California to be used at both Knotts Berry Farm and Bonfante Gardens. Both parks also recieved pieces of the Home for the Holidays Parade from Winterfest. I believe that Bonfonte Gardens only recieved 3 floats, while Knotts recieved a whole set. Following the link below to the Westcoaster site to see some pictures of the floats at their new home, I like how they incorporated some of the Snoopy and Charlie Brown characters into things. http://www.westcoaster.net/updates.php?upd...0806&page=9

Jr. High speculation?? Maybe you should wait until you are around on the board more than 1 post before you start judging people. Many people on this board have been around/worked for theme parks for 20 or 30 years. There are quite a few people on here who know exactly what they are talking about.

I know....he is a really great guy, and he is extremely talented. I was just saying that we might see a different character, I didnt mean it would have to be a different person.
-
Thank you Ronny for confirming that it was very close to the same angle as your picture. I actually stopped at the entrance to the North Parking Tolls where the yellow gate is. I don't blame you for not wanting to risk driving this morning....traffic was nasty this morning.
-
thats the sign in the foreground.....the one in the distance is the one i was talking about. this is the closest i could get to the angle of the other picture, i cant get a close as ronny could considering he was in the parking lot. but you should be able to see part of the loop in that angle.
-
Ok....so here we go. As much as I dont like reporting what I have seen....I feel I have to do this. I couldnt shake what I saw yesterday and figured I bet they are right, I must have been the angle I was at. SO...I went by the park today and found an angle very close to Ronny's from last year where you could clearly see the loop and here is what I saw: As you can see it is very close to the same angle used in Ronny's Picture back on page 10 of this thread, using the same trees and you can see the same parking sign in the distance (I belive it was row 33?) Sorry folks.....as much as I hate to say it, it definatly looks like the loop is down. Now this isnt to say it is completly cut from the layout, as we still havent heard the offical plans. Hopefully they are just doing some modifications to it.
-
Very interesting.....it looks like no matter where it is heading that it would most likely not be ready for opening day at this rate.
-
What was the point of that post? The crane was there around 11:30 yesterday, that does not mean it would have been there later in the day. Cranes do go up and down....all the time. Why would they keep the crane up if they were done with the work it was needed for?
-
And if you paid attention to the posts today I said that there was a crane on site TODAY. What does a picture from early November have to do with what could have happened today, or over the last few days?? I obviously knew that the loop was still there as of November.....in fact it was there as of about 2 weeks ago, that I know for sure.
-
You might be right....Im just saying what I saw from where I was and I did go to a few different angles. I thought I remembered being able to see the loop from back by GWL, especially from the angle of the first shot, which I believe the tree line is low enough to see where the top part would be. Maybe I was wrong and my mind is just making me jump to conclusions. But who knows, all I am saying is what I saw, and I didnt see any loop there. I also dont have that great of a camera, so if someone else out there has a better zoom (Ronny....you have some nice cameras :-) that might be able to get some closer pictures maybe it could clear this up
