Diamondback Location on Opening Day 1972
Tomkatt7 replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Coming Attractions
Yep, when I die, I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my GramPa. Not screaming and yelling like everyone else in his car. -
I'll give my input, and I know this not the case for everyone, but only what I went through. My family was in Thrillseekers last year, to get a shirt for my daughter. She is 13. We ended up with no shirt, even after visiting the other shops too. Her problem is, she likes the "girly" fitting shirts, but was not happy with the designs on them. She will NOT wear anything pink, yellow, or girly in color. Same goes for hearts. Put a heart on a shirt, and fogret about it. She was wanting a "girly" cut T-shirt, with The Beast logo on it. We were in every shop in the park that we could find, but did not come across one. Maybe we were just frustrated because we couldn't find what we wanted. But I remember getting upset about the fact that there seemed to be 20 gift shops, all carrying identical merchandise. Whats the point of having different shops, if they all carry the same stuff? Anyways, we are hoping that this year we'll find her one, maybe with a 30th logo on it as well. I know I'll be stopping in Thriiseekers to get my Diamondback T-shirt this year!!!

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)

True chrome plating is VERY expensive. Let me throw a little Nascar at ya though. Teams used to chrome plate their wheels back in the day, but it started to lead to problems once the cars got faster, and made more force through the turns. Chrome plated wheels were then outlawed by Nascar. Imagine my surprise when newly formed race team Michael Waltrip Racing showed up at Daytona 2 years ago with, yep, chrome wheels. When asked about it, he told them that it is not actual chrome plating. They use a paint process that gives the same look, but no weakness to the metal and at a fraction of the cost. So I would say, if they WERE interested in chrome, it could be done, and it could be done inexpensively. -
New Roller Coasters To Make Debut in 2009

FOF can be argued as the best at KI. It is under 75' -
I'm glad they used a chain. I have never riden MF before though, so I can't really say which is better. I do think the "clickity-clack" going up the hill adds to the suspense of the ride though. Even if you can't hear it on the ground, I'm sure you'll be able to when you're on the ride.

all of us punching our screens when the cam wouldn't work made the mark in the top left of the screen!!!

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)

Terp, you kill me!!! That was good!!! I was just wondering. How many posts were on the "other" thread about the KI project before the construction thread was started? I am curious if we'll get past that number before opening day. -
You guys don't want me bustin' out my high scores on Oregon Trail!!!!

The photo is amazing! While riding, it doesn't seem, to me anyways, to be banked that much. Look at how far up on it's edge that thing is. Looks to be almost a 45 degree angle!!! the ride seems so flat and fast when I'm on it.

I think the best answer for me would just be: A lot!!! I spend much more time reading than posting though. I know I'll be on tonight to see what happens when the mole comes out to play!!!

How Often Do Forum Members Run Into Eachother At Parks

Guess that has been one of the benefits of being a "blue collar" worker for so many years. At the end of the day, I clock out. I don't have to be worried about work until my next scheduled clock in time -

Hah. Old Terpy lives and dies by his cellphone at home and at work. But, texts drive the old fool batty, and he sees moments in parks as moments of freedom when he is not reachable. No txts to Terp in parks. Thankfully. Must be an "age" thing Terp. texting makes NO sense to me either. I watch my 12 year old do it, and her hour of texting could have been wiped out with a 5 minute phone call using the same device. Time wasting factors don't make sense either, it kills her to have to wait 1 minute for a microwave meal, but the text thing is OK!!!! -

Not a memeber from here, but, One time, I called in sick to work, the family and I drove down to KI for the day. While we were there, I ran into a co-worker that did the same thing!!! That was pretty funny. -
I know how you feel... I screw my back up all the time.....Vicodin are my best friend!!! LOL

These TR's are great, I can't wait to finally get to go one!!!! I'm hoping to get to go to the Ride Warriors weekend. One question, yes I know its been answered several times, in several threads. Maybe why it is confusing to me. I do NOT get season passes. Will I be able to attend this event? I hear everybody say that it costs 50 bucks even with the season passes, but I dont know if that means I can go and also just pay the 50, or if you must have a season pass to go.

If you fancy a nice horsey ride, stop in to the Columbus Zoo next time you are in town. Located on the west side of the Zoo near Bob and Evelyn’s Roadhouse, enjoy the upbeat sounds and the thrill of riding on our authentic 1914 Mangel-Illions Carousel complete with 52 original horses, chariots and band organ. It's pretty cool, they built a canopy around it, so in the summer, you can take a ride, and cool off in the A/C

Thanks for the kind words, as a parent, I think we all think our kids are cute!!!! LOL The blue eyes were my one contribution, and the evil attitude that she hides so well, but brings out when she needs too!!!

I ate at Coasters last year. The food was awesome, but it closes before KI does. We had planned on a late dinner after the park closed, no dice. We hd to settle on pizza that night, and coasters for lunch. I had a steak, New York Strip I believe, it was cooked perfectly, and priced right too. Around 20 bucks I think. It was nice to have a place like that to stay. We had 2 day passes to the park. Once we got to the hotel, we never had to move the car for the entire time we were there. Everything we needed was at that one location.

My youngest can't believe that you'd consider anything but the blue!!

I wonder how long it will be before people start insisting that top Gun, Face/Off, and Tomb Raider were so dangerous that they were torn down and replaced with Flight Deck, Invertigo, and The Crypt???? Among others.
