I like the one where it looks like the Reptar is eating the top of the building!!!! It's right above the photo of the downed lamp post

I was watching the webcam, hoping to see the group, but I never did

Looks like a good spot for an employee break area!!!

enjoyed the interview, thanks for posting it. I am as excited as anybody to see Diamondback up and running, It made me feel even better though, to hear Mr.Helbig talking about The Beast 30th birthday. I have been a little worried that it was going to be lost a bit in the hype from D-back. Listining to that interview though, let me know that KI still wants to celebrate The Beast, and all it has done for the park.

They need to throw those monkeys out of the park at the start of the movie. No climbing on the railing!!!! -
The "Dipin Dots" guy is a wealth of knowledge!!!

Hard Rock Park SOLD!
Tomkatt7 replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
OK, thanks. We were at the other one in 97. Thats the last time I was in the area. I thought maybe the Hard Rock people bought it, and re-themed it. I do remember the little coaster that was there was pretty fun. -
Hard Rock Park SOLD!
Tomkatt7 replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I don't follow the industry as close as everyone else on here, so I have a question. Is this the same park that has been open for years just off the main strip? Close to one of the piers? -
Who's bidding on the first seats on Diamondback?

I see Terpys point. It would be different if they did a countdown 3..2...1....and then nothing happened. To get a little nervous laughter, and then do it again correctly. But, he is right in saying it's winning lawsuit ready to happen. I'm sure they keep a record of complaints. If someone sued them, and their lawyers found out about more complaints that the park overlooked, or didn't take seriously.....It would probably never make to court. CF would be forced to settle for whatever the person wanted, just to save themselves the negative publicity.....Maybe even a way to start a class action suit? I don't know how those work though. -
We would have done better in our challenge Wed. night if you had something cool like that to ride around on!!!
-
Here is what we do. We start out heading over Towards Action Zone, but we stop Adventure Express. We then ride coasters in a chain, one leading to the other. Adventure Express, Racer, FOF, Firehawk, Vortex, Beast, Back Lot Stunt Coaster, and then Runaway reptar. I threw Firehawk in there because of it's location. We don't ride it. I have a 12 year old that is just starting to ride the coasters. That list will get you around the park pretty quick without walking past any coasters. But it's not all of them. I left out Invertigo, Son of Beast, and of course Diamondback. But those are the ones that she hasn't got the nerve up to ride yet. Starting that way though, gets you going on the little ones, and building up to the more extreme rides, and then coming back down. Give it a look on the park map, see if it works for you. I also like it because it starts me out in Coney Mall, which is my favorite part of the park.

Very Very True. When it was the OTSR I would always get a cramp in my legs, now with the lap bar its great. I rode it in its inaugural year and suffered a huge headache. I'm only 5'3" and my ears lined up perfectly with those restraints. After that experience, it became the only coaster that I refused to ride. Now its a must ride for me every visit. It has also taken the spot of my son's favorite steel coaster. Of course, he never rode it with the OTSR, so its always been a great ride to him. EDIT: Post 201... I'm officially a Junky and it only took almost two years. I guess I don't have as much to say as some others It's not how much you have to say that matters. It's the quality of your words!! I Did not ride FOF with the OTSR either. It has been one of my favorites from my first ride too. The whole hanger, UFO, theme works great. The bodies in the tanks. Empty trains coming in. For a first time rider, this coaster is awesome!!!

LOL...I have some of those "first generation" onride photos.....They were printed on like a low quality fax paper!!! LOL

Last year, AE was a walk on, as usual. As we were waiting at the gate for the train before us to leave, I heard the ride ops talking to one another about a girl that was on the ride. I heard on of them say that she was on her 3rd ride in a row, and they had already told her twice to NOT talk her cell phone while riding. She was on the train that came in for us to ride on. She was told again NOT to use her phone while riding. They did not make her get off the ride because no one was standing at the gate for the car she was on, so we were lucky enough to be riding right in front of her.We heard her talking on her phone all the way through the ride. Speaking loud, making sure everyone else on the ride knew what she was doing. When the ride ended, We got off, but she stayed on. As we were leaving, we watched a ride op telling her again. We laughed as we left. Wonder what you have to do to actually be removed from a ride, or the park? I wouldn't recommend that anyone break the rules. But if you do, what are the odds that they'll be enforced?

sorry, im bad at just asking and not looking... kitten, who now looks silly... Don't worry about looking silly. I think the whole "search" topic could have been handled a little more politely. Asking how the trains go on the tracks seems like a perfectly good question to me. At least your post is on topic.

This may sound dumb, but...... I don't have a scanner, so I waited for a nice sunny day. I took all of my on-ride photos outside and used the digital camera to take pictures of them. They turned out pretty good. Just a thought for you.

OMG!!!! Is one of those girls Katy Perry? I can't believe things like that happen, and always get stuck riding with a bunch of snot nosed kids!!!!

I could have screwed the tram story up. Maybe they were bought in the 60's, and then came to KI when Coney closed???? Remember, this was 2002. I'm a little fuzzy on the details.....LOL
-
You're welcome. I love the chance to talk about the campground. I have to ask this.....don't flame me!!! LOL I have heard all the arguments over what coaster influenced the building of The Beast, but the guy that drove the tram to and from the park told us something else. He said that the name and logo for The Beast was taken from a Coney Coaster called the Teddy Bear. He said the park owners wanted to "toughen up" the name and logo, and The Beast is what they ended up with. I've never mentioned that here before, just because all of the arguments these types of statements make. But I've wondered long enough if anyone else has ever heard that? I would normally chalk it up to a "dippin Dots" kind of guy, but this guy did correctly tell me that King Cobra was on it's way out, so maybe he was a bit more "plugged in" than some of the others. He also said that the trams they used (The blue ones) that also used to get people around the parking lots, were purchased from Coney in the 60's

I would agree to that, if I am allowed to wear my double beer can hard hat on the ride!!!!

The dog belong to my brother, and they are very well behaved. He just locked them up in the camper. if I tried that with my dog, he would chew up everything inside!!!
