Cedar Point 2016 Talk
calakapepe replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
http://coastermadness.tumblr.com/post/127074691996/valravn-track-is-onsite-photo-taken-from-breakers I am not sure who took the picture, but this came up on Tumblr user "Coaster Madness" (who doesn't post exclusively original content). Definitely B&M, looks about the right width for a dive coaster? Also here's a picture originally from ThemeParkReview.com - found through the same Tumblr page. -
No it's not silly! I'm frankly kinda warmed to hear someone else is enjoying watching someone they care about starting to like coasters. Because they're taking enjoyment in something that you (we all) love very dearly.. It's very pleasing for someone to share the same likes as you.. especially when it's something that comes with such passion and probably nostalgia. For me, this progression is being seen with my girlfriend, she seems very determined to ride more and more, and it very much excites me. She even has made a goal to herself to ride Diamondback by next year and I am excited that she is starting to enjoy rides more and more!

I would suspect with the great popularity of Haunt for Kings Island, having fewer, better mazes would result in 2 hour maze lines on even Fridays.. And who can even imagine the result on the Saturdays that already produce such great lines. The guests love to go into multiple types of mazes, it seems and having a lot of options is good. I don't mean to sound like I'm excusing the park for not always having mazes up to par with whatever other maze you might have in your mind, but It's a more complex art to get the subjectively "perfect" Halloween Haunt experience. That is all I am trying to convey. (And it is all merely postulation) Too many mazes and too few bodies to stuff into (no pun intended). The biggest issue that all haunted attractions in general have is staffing; Haunt season falls right into the beginning of both high school football and Homecoming dances, and almost three-quarters of the talent that Kings Island specifically hires are minors/high school kids (most standalone haunts try to circumvent this by strictly hiring 18+). Retention rates are also low as the season goes on once workers realize the physical, mental, and emotional strains that come with the not-so-simple task of scaring paying customers. I have heard of many actors who decided to leave the job after awhile too. (and I know someone who had worked haunt) Not that the job isn't do-able, but it definitely is actual work. It takes more effort than I suspect many "kids" (used loosely) expect the job to be like. On the other hand, there are also the many hard-workers that resonate well with the Haunt life and decide to come again year-after-year. Depends on just how much you enjoy scaring people/ how determined you are/ what your body can take (i.e. crouching repeatedly/ screaming).. It's not for everyone. Witnessing this first-hand repeatedly, your post made me a little sad for those kids that are just simply scared.

If anyone's had a short conversation about what's next with the performers, you have a pretty good idea of where the show could end up; if anywhere. I'm thinking of a recently mentioned place, but we won't know until we know. Show fatigue? Huh? Every Disney and Universal park has had the same shows for many, many years. People keep coming back to watch them. And I would definitely say many people would come back to watch Cirque Imagine. I'm extremely upset. Destination park for world wide visits versus a regional park... Its also why different Broadway touring groups come to Cincy each year, or we would get a Wicked/Avenue Q/Rent for every show. These things happen. Plus actors get fatigued as well. As a performer in high school and the now, YES we do! Gotta shake it up, and never get too comfortable with the same routine; Always strive for further excellence (and fun )

Yes.. generalizations are easy to fall into because we tend to exaggerate for making easy communication. Common sense isn't so common nowadys? -- Hey, many more than half still aren't going into restricted, dangerous areas.. that's more common than people of the likes of this topic. Everyone is upset? -- Though it's virtually impossible to know how many are and aren't, we know, at least with good probability, that Terpy isn't upset at the media. * This literal, but still somewhat service-filling post, was brought to you by a guy in a weird mood, me.

So what woodie at Kings Island would you want to get an RMC treatment?
calakapepe replied to Oldschool75's topic in KI Polls
I was referring to the very small amount of SOB track and supports that still remain. (As a sarcastic suggestion) -I take it that no one caught on that I wasn't serious -

The old SOB supports could be used in the addition of a new RMC coaster Save some serious bucks! -
Unfortunately, not that I have any merit, I would not be surprised if it were closed for a couple days for investigation or for a desire to put up absurd amounts of signs before reopening? IMO it shouldn't need to be closed for too long, long as the ride train or track segment wasn't damaged. Though, I do worry it will be closed for longer than some would expect.

From the people I've spoken to, you either loved Skeleton Crew, or you were a little bored by it. I saw the show as well last year.. and I too share one of these. c:

Great trip report. Sounds like a nice time, though the issue causing you to miss one show. It's nice to see a some brief thoughts about the shows on here for a change; you don't see it as often Also want to add that that was very nice of you to ditch ERT for your mother. A lot of people would've just waited the half hour and left rather than leave it all together

I just hope that it is not a dive coaster, though I will gladly ride it whenever I find myself at the park again, it won't motivate me to make the trip up next year.. But this is just me. -
Rank Kings Islands roller coasters from best to worst
calakapepe replied to zachman's topic in Kings Island
I can't ride it, that's why it's last for me; it has become irrelevant for my park visits. *I refuse to borrow someone's kid* -

If that's not fake.. it makes me assume a flyer or a diver coaster.. because we already have a wing coaster and an inverted coaster at CP. CP really likes their animal-based coaster "themes", particularly with birds -

Since when is that a 20 year old track? -
Of course this happens the one year I don't have a gold pass :/ I've been wanting to take this tour since I was a little kid. Oh well, someday!
-
When the park expands X base, I would encourage them to build a restroom building as well! As it is, the nearest ones are at either end of Coney. Yes.. its a lot nicer how CP seems to have more restrooms than you could think to use. "Oh I need to go, I know we just passed one around the bend there-- oh, there's one here too!" --- And I'm all for the whole TLC year.. but do it right. I would love if Kings Island became one of the cleanest parks, in terms of aesthetics. Some bigger parks, I see videos of them and it's dumbfounding how clean cut everything looks. Kings Island is pretty good even still, but I'm all for for even better!
-
Yes, usually you won't get any comment about riding alone from employees.. I've had it happen once last year at Drop Tower however he was attempting to be friendly, I think. The same day was the only rider on several coasters with no such comments.
-
Face/Off is gone, Terp! (As is the Flip Side) ~ Both now sport some sort of blue hue colors. Lol and Chang/ Green Lantern was never at Kings Island; closest it ever got was 2 hours... -Suspecting that you're not a fan of green, hmm.. and I welcome the return to a yellow coaster. Are you living in the past? ...and/or not at the home park of most of this site's users?
-
I'd go with a woodie. They are just so much more exciting, when executed correctly.. and maintained well. If a giga were to come... NOT red! I want to see a Green or a Yellow track at KI.
-
Now if only the ride could not come to a stop in the middle of the ride. Whatever the reason may be, that it does that, if only. c:
-
As long as I feel like I've had FUN day and I've gotten my time and money's worth.. that's really all that matters. Unless I only have a time slot to visit one park over another.

Cannibal : NEW at Lagoon in 2015

Too narrow for a vertical lift? http://www.coaster-net.com/pictures/dollywood/mystery-mine-auvs.jpg http://www.dollymania.net/bbq066724.jpg This coaster looks like it'll be a lot of fun, though I don't think it'd be anything more thrilling than other coasters aside from the huge drop. Not a BAD thing
