Ark Encounter Contract Signed
calakapepe replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Anyone who doesn't believe in what the museum claims, especially those passionately in disagreement, I would assume wouldn't want to work there anyways. Why hurt themselves? Unless some employee has some master agenda, that wouldn't even be achievable by themselves, it's not like their park would have a hard time telling the story that they want it to tell.. I certainly hope this park doesn't get finished, if I am to add my two cents. -
Worlds First Polercoaster

T'is merely anticipatory judgments.. Of course nothing will compare to actually riding.. but I'm not going down to Florida any time soon.. Assuming they have blocks.. which they likely do.. I'd expect them to be located before the various straight, I think beyond vertical, drops. -
Worlds First Polercoaster
calakapepe replied to elyk's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Awesome. This isn't just a grab at a world record like I had initially thought. The coaster is actually very cool! Nice pacing, nice rhythm, not too repetitive either! This coaster can compete with coasters at the world-renowned parks! Now... let's just see how long this stays smooth.. let's see how well maintenance is prioritized. -
I completely agree with you. I genuinely find the Peanuts experience to be fairly bland and kind of sad. I never liked it as a kid, and still don't see its appeal, but many others must have, given their continuing success. (to a degree) The first installment of a Nickelodeon themed kid's area was definitely my favorite. Once Universe hit and Phantom left (I know it's not Nickelodeon) and the shows like Slime Time Live left, I didn't feel like it was as immersive of an area and the rides were the only thing left. I very much enjoyed the Hannah Barbara land a lot too though, with Boomerang still showing the old classics on TV, I too was able to come and relive those characters! And that's also when Scooby Doo was in the Enchanted Theater and hadn't taken over Phantom Theater. I would go on to say that the biggest factor to make me love those renditions is the fact that I grew up with them and they were themes that I enjoyed as a kid watching TV. -- That said. I think kids will love whatever you put in there, and there's a chance they would prefer their upbringing's kid's area over the others.. However, I think it's a good investment to theme after characters that are regularly on TV that kids regularly enjoy, and as far as what I can see through my siblings, cousins, and friend's kids.. The Peanuts are not such characters. I only know of them watching Peanuts episodes while at school, for some reason.

3 new trademarks registered by Cedar Fair
calakapepe replied to Oldschool75's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Looks like it won't be a "roller coaster" dark ride, thank goodness. Remember what seems to happen when other CF parks get similar rides year-after-year? *crosses fingers for the future* -
Oh, I'm not sure how the apartment situations are there, but Sharonville could be a nice place to live also. Quite close to the park, but not in Mason, has a very nice county park, Sharon Woods. Rock climbing, along with all the normal Greater-Cincinnati establishments, or close enough to them, and close to a neat go kart (expensive) indoor track in Springdale, if that's your thing.. Could consider there aswell.

At the furthest east on 275 that you would take.. I'd suggest Milford be the furthest you go. Eastgate would be nice, but it has some pretty bad traffic in the mornings. Eastgate would've been your maximum 30 minute trek. West side, I've known people to make 30 minute drives from Hamilton or Colraine. -- If you have any co-workers that are in the same boat as you, or that you could convince to work down here rather than at Cedar Point, that'd be a worthy attempt I'd say to help with rent.

And those restrictions are sometimes even bypassed by patrons that do not have kids of their own. I've heard stories of adults offering or asking to ride with someone else's kid because they wouldn't otherwise be allowed on. -
That has been the date listed on their official website for a time now. It should be correct, yes.

They are a nice addition, water coasters. They are fun. How capactiy will would be handled at a park like Kings Island, I do not know, though.

What is on your off-season improvement list?
calakapepe replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
Oh! That reminds me. Some tree planting would be appreciated in the desert in which Banshee resides.. Just something to make the ride feel enclosed a little. But that's just a dream, not an expectation. -

Skylon is a closer, comparable, destination, is it not? Rotating dinning rooms sound fun.-- Team USA! *cough* -
I too had my first ride on Skyflyer.. Just yesterday, actually since the prices were at the lowest for the majority of the day. That too is my most memorable, I've always wanted to try it out. It's just a really fun way to drop, having to pull the cord and whatnot. In second place is riding the Lake Erie Eagles because I don't have any actual memories of riding Kings Island's back in the day, though I'm sure I rode them.

Maybe seats that face each other so that you can ride again and even out the neck strain so you don't feel lopsided. -- I agree, a well done dark ride, that doesn't require you to shoot things.

Nice, I must've read over the yogurt complex that will replace Starbuck's current location. I'm very excited about that. I have loved the way the fro-yo shops have evolved to have some really awesome flavors. (see SweetFrog and OrangeLeaf) It'll be really nice to see some love on International Street.

On certain days, on certain nights.

There will be a fair number of adults riding this kids ride Unless.. will it be a children's version of the ride? Not that the normal sizes are huge to start with.

The official "Bring the Flying Eagles home" thread.

This. You MIGHT be able to snap the newer Larson models if you have a confluence of favorable conditions, but I wouldn't count on being able to do it. I don't know if there's a more frustrating feeling while riding anything at an amusement park than riding a newer flyer set, achieving maximum height, a quick flip of the sail, waiting for the snap at the bottom and getting nothing. Anyone who claims to be able to snap these newer sets with any regularity is either (1) a true expert; (2) unfamiliar with what snapping really is; or (3) lying. The other downside is the very short ride cycle, particularly at Cedar Point. It takes those things forever to slow down and come to a complete stop, so they had to compensate with shorter actual "fly" time. The post I quoted above says it all. If KI does add a flyer set, there's absolutely no way the 3 Point Challenge game is going to be retired (it may be relocated to another position in the park, but it's definitely not going away). Most people would be shocked at how much the 3 Point Challenge games make not only at KI but at other parks. It is the single most profitable game at most parks in the country that have them. There's a reason that parks that didn't have them have added them recently or will be adding them in the near future. Oh, I'm aware. I made the light statement because that's what took the spot of the FE after it left the park entirely. There wasn't legitimate reason for it there... -

If we do get a Flying Eagles ride again... There is only one place in the park it belongs IMO. Bye, 3-point shooting game! -
Interactive Park Maps Are Now At Kings Island
calakapepe replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I'm not sure about the ride estimated times, but for haunt I know that it has been used at haunt to give a piece of paper to a guest in line, and then the guest give that paper to the host. Other methods may have been used, or may regularly be used as opposed to the one above, especially when concerning the normal rides. -- I will say, that I, on the other hand, have found ride estimated times to be fairly accurate when it's during busy-ish days. -- I once went on a more dead day, and estimated times hadn't been updated since 6pm the night before, assumingly because most everything had a walk-on and didn't warrant a need for a line estimation. -
Canada's Wonderland Stabbing
calakapepe replied to TTD-120-420's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm sorry, but is provoking a man, even a fair amount, justified for stabbing someone to death and/ or near fatal condition? We are all only human; threatening someone or making someone mad, intentional or intentional, and although not a mature thing to do, or a safe one, is not without sympathy if they are stabbed in the end. Taking it too far was done by the person stabbing them -- The only way I can think the, as they are now, victims deserve no sympathy, is if they pulled a weapon or aggressive assault upon the stabber first. (I sometimes like to put lots of commas in one sentence, because I like to be understood.) -

Is the hat not featured on the map above?? I'm confused exactly where on the main road it is located.
