  1. I honestly dont think the economic climate in that area.... or in the Country for that matter.... is receptive to any type of development of the land, regardless of how inexpensive the initial purchase price. Unfortunately, if it IS purchased, I see a long standing vacant lot.
  2. If you get even one of those, buy a Powerball ticket immediately, because you will have proven yourself to be the luckiest individual on this Planet.
  3. You deserve a Medal of Honor (or maybe a Purple Heart) for that.... Id last about 30 seconds.
  4. I remember seeing an urban exploration video of the place not too long ago, and every single ride and attraction I saw was in worse shape than Big Dipper at GL. If that isnt salvageable, then rides (specifically coasters) that sat with good portions of their supporting structures in flood water surely arent.
  5. Edited to delete.... no good can come of furthering the discussion here.... nothing to see here.
  6. Its not that there werent companies that couldnt have smoothed it out and made it work, its that the cost estimates that may or may not have been given, were out of the realm of what Corporate Management wished to invest.
  7. I see what you did there ... and in regards to age, I will be 42 in 22 days, and I still enjoy getting a Mean ride every time Im on the peninsula. All I wish, is that A)Trim Brake Fair would remove the trim on the first drop and ease WAAAYYYY up on the MCBR and B)They had spent the money on an RMC update instead of on the 1 trick pony they are currently building. Again, not that I think the ride is too Mean, but more simply to see how crazy RMC could go with it. Since Im rambling, and to keep on topic, I think the title of the article is only half right. I think the only reason the ride went "too far" is because they didnt go "far enough" in regards to investing the proper amount of money with a better builder/designer/engineering firm.
  8. I can promise, if I were the Prosecutor in this case, Id submit both booking photos as evidence to show a very obvious lack of remorse or concern to the consequences of their actions. They look like they are posing for Glamour Shots!
  9. Especially for those (like me) who read and heard first hand accounts of the dismal level of service provided by those who staffed and Managed the various food service establishments within the park last year. Those accounts were enough to make me pass on the $135 upcharge for All Season Dining on my pass this year.
  10. Come on now everyone, thats clearly the location of the new X-Base restrooms! Its a bird, its a crane, its a divers... is it?
  11. This whole idea makes the Edsel look like the Corvette..... or for you little boys and girls, makes SOB look like El Toro.
  12. Ahhhhh, so in other words, when Mother Nature creates a variance in how the mechanical coaster operates, the VR system is going to pause or slow down the "action" seen through the View Finder type devices. How nice, just like watching a streaming video on dial-up
  13. Oh, you mean "Amusement Park Wiki"? On the L.R. front, that possibility...combined with the disaster (literally and figuratively) on I75.... both contributed to my Wife and I scrubbing the plans for that weekend.
  14. That, is the part that fundamentally irritates me.
  15. Upon further thought, I am happy I have not booked anything, because this very well may cancel the trip for us. I simply dont have the mindset, nor the patience/desire, too put up with the delays and inconveniences this is going to cause.
  16. I found a good alternate, that doesnt add that many miles, and only a calculated 35 minutes.... at least 20 of that I will make up by hammering down while still on the Interstate....to the trip.
  17. Looks like I will be attempting to find some way around this. I would seriously rather take a route that physically takes 2 hours more, than contend with the cluster-you-know-what that detours create. The ONLY thing good I can see about this, is truck traffic is restricted in that area, but I dont know how much that would reduce the congestion/delays/idiocy that takes me to my mental limit and beyond in these situations. Thanks for the heads-up (both here, and in the reply made in the CC thread last night).
  18. I had a feeling that was the case, regarding the debt, thank you for that clarification my Friend. It still sticks in my craw, though.
  19. The way I read this (yes I admit Im a cynic about things like this) is that they are playing a shell game to make themselves look healthier than they are, and their shareholders (like is the norm for America) get richer while their debt continues to stagnate with the debtors left holding said stagnant debt. Im sorry, but Im from the school that teaches "You pay your darn debts BEFORE the 'profit' is shared amongst the already rich". Yeah, yeah I know this has become the way of American business, but I am honestly curious because I am not fully knowledgeable.... can said debtors come forward and demand the use of that money for repayment of the stagnant debt, or are they simply happy collecting the interest for what looks to be indefinitely?
  20. Thats too bad, you guys are the few I would enjoy seeing. Im not going Saturday for a number of reasons, two of which are A)Opening day crowds and B)Im riding 3 of the 4 Alpine coasters that day.
  21. Im ordering ours this weekend, for use that Sunday.
  22. Im excited for the ride, and actually this brings up a good subject that I was discussing on Face when people were whining and crying about how "ugly" an RMC is. Here's the deal, Im a street/drag racer, and I know of some pretty butt-ugly cars that run low 8s or faster in the 1/4 mile that would make many "Ride Warriors" have to change their pants after a ride in it. You hang art on a wall, you ride a roller coaster for the release and to see how quickly it can raise your heart rate to 180+. Not bagging on you, Chris, as I agree the fresh paint looks good, but things like that are absolutely far from what makes me excited about a ride.
  23. I am certainly looking forward to my first ever trip to IB this year. I already have a soft spot for Tigrr, due to its similarities to a childhood favorite of mine, Der Flitzer, formerly located at Adventureland in Altoona, IA.
  24. No, the "test pile" was demolished in 2013 to make way for Banshee.
  25. Never seemed to be an issue for me. With the speed (which is what Dodge Ems SHOULD have) that the HW cars have, I have always simply P.I.T. maneuvered those who cant seem to master the rudimentary task of driving in a counter-clockwise circle. Spin em to win it! With that said, Cedar Point's have always offered Brad and I a good, and entertaining time the times we have ridden them. Again, let us hope the new Italian cars keep that trend going..
