It may be working in Mason, but not so much up Lake Erie way. That in itself, is either incredibly confusing, or incredibly thought provoking. It would almost make one think that Upper Management isnt roaming the Sandusky property as much as in the past. Hmmmmmmm......
-
I will fully agree with that, Terp!!!! Its not just food service either...... I mean lets get real, look at Diamondstack, and as a CP example I give you over 11 minutes to load Troika, for a 45 second ride cycle.

Oh, right on, and like you said its all relative. I think the part in the ad that states it was/is the second price increase just this year really stuck in my craw, because its putting the parks in the "Country Club" realm in my eyes. I know how special it is to Families, and I just wish more Families were able give the gift to Their Children, and two price increases per year isnt going to make that happen.

Of course I dont, come on man, Ive been somewhat anti CF for longer than Ive been on this site, and if anything I was hoping a former Disney guy would make it BETTER. sorry, from a park operations standpoint at CP this year, I am the most disappointed Ive been since he took over. Now, with how you know I feel about DK, thats saying something. My point, is and has been, this. Like shark said, neither his nor my thought process is more right or wrong than the other, I simply feel that its a B.S. maneuver. Ive said for years, publicly on this Forum even, that the CF Platinum is vastly under-priced for free parking and admission to 14 parks. Thats why I stated earlier that Id be more willing and comfortable paying $5 to $600 for a CF Platinum than the nearly $900 for WDW P+

What I meant about the lack of magic is just what you said.... to me, who will live within an hour or two of the park, its 100% no different fundamentally than CP, or add any other park in there you wish. ITs a theme park full of rides, albeit better themed than the "regular" regional parks. Therefore, the price is MUCH less justified to regulars who can very simply do what the KI-heads do.... "Oh, let me pull up the trusty web cams and if its too busy, I will not go". In regards to the vacationing Family, the price IS justifiable to them, to see the looks on their Childrens faces when they see the big funny happy cuddly characters, so the Disney Magic exists. The counterpoint to that is this, wouldnt you as a business owner/CEO want to see MORE smiling Families? When it is getting to the price point of only other CEO and upper level Execs being able to afford to bring their Families, that would upset me if my company was already making mutli-million dollar profits and dividends for myself and shareholders. I guess thats why Im not a CEO, I care too much about the people who buy my product.

Even as someone who will be moving to Florida next year, I totally, 100% disagree. Lets see, we saw our largest number of patrons, OK, lets RAISE prices since... you know..... XXX million in profit isnt enough. For an individual with a "dont screw the people" mindset like me, this weighs heavily on my decision, regardless of how close to or far away from the park I am. For a regular, in-state Resident potential visitor like myself and my Wife, the "Disney Magic" ceases to exist, it becomes just another series of theme parks. Take away the "Once or twice a year Magic" aspect that a vacationing Family looks forward to, things change drastically. EDIT: Using your analogy, Id have to ask anyone who would pay $300 for a KI season pass if they needed their head examined. Now, a PLATINUM Pass, at a price point of say $5 to $600, which includes all CF properties, I can accept.

This affects both parks, what a joke. Mouseland is NOT worth this, on either coast! http://www.ocregister.com/articles/disney-686033-pass-disneyland.html

Hmmmmm, that may be something I look into next weekend!

Intamin new speed boat ride
IBEW_Sparky replied to rlentless's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I agree! I would be all for this at a park that would be 100% committed to maintaining not only the ride, but the rides theming aspects..... and the only group I confidently feel would do that is Disney. Certainly not FUN or... to a lesser extent.... SIX. And before anyone says "Mr. Ouimet is former Disney" I say.... exactly, FORMER Disney. Ive already seen at CP how little Disney influence in both appearance and guest service and care/effort crossed over. -
All it reduces for them in my case is per caps. If Im going to spend 20 to 30 minutes getting something to eat as it is, Im certainly not going to do it for park food, Im going someplace good like the Ruby Tuesday up the street. I will also get that same better food for the same or less money. Slow ride ops, while incredibly irritating, are one thing because I truly am a captive audience in the case of the rides. Slow food service?? Not happenin.

Intamin new speed boat ride

This looks just as perfectly reliable as Top Thrill Dragster... oh, wait a minute. Cedar Point already has a Dragster H2O in Soak City, and one that operates properly every time, provided the operator (guest going down the slide) does not take the ladder back down. -
It worked pretty well for Bernie Madoff for quite a while...

Fight inside Carowinds Halloween Haunt
IBEW_Sparky replied to RollerNut's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The two easiest answers are A)Demographic of the patrons of said park... Location, location, location as Terpy said and B)Darkness and that atmosphere combined just BEG for this kind of stupidity. Im a former LEO, and Ive walked around KI during Haunt, and with the asinine amount of theatrical fog in the place I counted no less than a dozen places for unscrupulous characters to do nefarious things to other patrons in just the area surrounding the Tower. I wont even get into the perils of Rivertown and the train. -

Thats His point, malem, and in response to Your question, Terp, its going to take the parks to see a financial loss during Boo-fests, which is NOT likely to happen any time soon. -
I remember marathoning Wild Thing one day back in 2001. Not because it was/is a spectacular ride, but more because it was just something to do, lol. I agree completely about the MCBR on Mamba, although I Love the feel the helix gives me before the MCBR. I LOVE getting Mamba rides right after the ride has been shut down and then re-started, for the 2 or 3 non-MCBR runs right afterward. As far as DB goes, there is absolutely nothing that could be done to that ride, that could make it interesting for me again. Its just too simplistic for my likes and desires now.
-
Just from using memory skills, I am going to say my most ridden coaster would be either Mamba at WoF, Wild Thing at Valleyfair!, B:KF/Dominator at Geauga Lake, or Diamondback in my binge year of 2009 (Maybe thats why I find that to be the most boring roller coaster on the Planet now).

The rain wouldnt have phased me. A little incident with the front end of my BMW finding the remains of a semi tire at 230am, and a dampened Spirit due to the fact its 9/11 along with really missing a very special young Lady Friend of mine just all combined with me deciding that the circumstances arent right, and the best place for me this evening is right here in my cozy home with my Wife. EDIT: Everyone enjoy the evening, its a REALLY great event!! I will be making a donation to the Center in lieu of my ticket purchase.
-
For the second year in a row, extenuating circumstances have altered my plan, and I will no longer be attending tonights event.

Yes he does, the most popular being green.... in his pocket.

I swear to you, I have never in my Life seen two more arrogant photographs!! That one of him on Chang just SCREAMS "Yes, please hand deliver my Grande Double Mocha Half-caff Caramel twist Espresso to me in the parking lot, I will be sitting in the chrome wrapped BMW Z4 with custom Gucci interior".
-
It looks as if I will be there solo but Im still going, rain or shine.
-
I will most certainly be there, my first trip to the park this year, and I plan on making it one FABULOUS night. Im working on getting Indyguy4KI to ride along with me, to enjoy the park at its best.

Cedar Point 2016 Talk
IBEW_Sparky replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Right on, and I surely understand it will be a draw for the park, I just have absolutely zero interest in it. I have a true feeling, that a good number of first-timers will be as anticipointed with it as most of us were with Rougarou. -
There is one... and only one... thing that fundamentally matters about any/all of this. 11-03-2015

Yeah, like dive coasters. Sparky: ALMOST as big a fan of divers, as Terpy is of Voyage and I-305.
