Cedar Point 2016 Talk
IBEW_Sparky replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
In no way is it dangerous or against park rules if every seat is equipped with a clamp style holder, mounted to the trains chassis, much like a GoPro mount. Adjustable arm, like the ones on the machines at the Optometrist, make it 100% feasible and safe, as far as "loose items" go. -
Troubleshooting and repairing lightning strike damage is a huge pain in the fanny.... not only do you have to usually replace every single PLC and main drive, but also usually every limit switch, prox switch, and any other device connected to said PLC/drive. If you are LUCKY, the wiring can be salvaged, but very possibly not in the case of an amusement attraction where inspectors can sometimes be very finicky.... and rightfully so I might add.

I will remember that this year, when I make an honest attempt at going to KI Haunt this year. I really LOVE the effort the park and actors put in when it comes to the set up and theatrics of the Haunts, so I am going to try to set aside my instincts and go through them to enjoy that aspect of them. Plus, Ive got plenty of black tactical pants and shirts, so the whole "black from head to toe" aspect wont be difficult at all.
-
That will work fine for me, since Ive got so many other primarily dry ride/thrill ride parks in the area to frequent. ID definitely like to see this park be a flat-heavy park, with a lot of the flats that have begun to disappear from most venues (whip, a GOOD tilt-a-whirl, GOOD bumper cars like at HW and Knoebels, etc etc).
-
And what are Your thoughts on that? Since our plans changed, and my Wife and I are now going to be living in Florida as opposed to Colorado, it will be very easy for me to make the trek to ASA. Do You see them keeping it as such.... waterpark plus Rampage.... or do You see them expanding it to something more along the likes of a KK or even HW size and style park?

The length of Diamondstacks line cant be used as a reliable representation of park business, and honestly nor can any of the food service establishments in the park this year from what Ive heard. The webcams may be a better representation, and since one has to be online in some capacity to read this thread, I feel the KI website with said webcams would be the more trustworthy option.

I think it will be a hybrid of emotions, along with some dark posts to CPs Social Media pages. -

Or for those who think its "cool" for some reason to go actually CLIMB on the track pieces while in the parking lot. Yes, there are some of those in the community, as unfortunate/foolish as it may be. I mean, as a former car guy of epic proportions, that would make as much sense as me going down to Bowling Green, and climbing on crates full of Corvette parts. SMH. -

Maayyyyybe, however, my thoughts are that it all depends on how often they came over the PA system with the "We are experiencing a minor technical difficulty, and we should have you under way very soon" jazz. Not saying I disagree, because that thought entered my mind as well, just adding some more food for thought. -

the question should be.... how long was the ride stopped, BEFORE Zoo personnel/Management chose to call rescue operations in? For how many minutes did they attempt to re-start the ride themselves as to avoid media attention? -

I am not intentionally trying to break down the park when I post, I am very honestly just trying to point out different things for people to look at, and think about. With that said, let me point out that, at this point, all the park has done is released a VERY hastily done and very low quality rendering and animation of the new coaster, and begin deconstruction of the ride formerly known as Twisted Twins. In my eyes, this was/is being done as a "time filler" and as a way to possibly spike the sales of 2016 Season Passes in the HOPES that things go the parks way in November, Mind you, if they do not go the parks way and all State funding of any sort is cut to the park, then all the park is out is the money they will have to pay the Demolition company for the deconstruction of TT. All of this, in my eyes, is a "wing and a prayer" way of boosting revenue for next year in the hopes that there IS a next year.

Sorry for the D.P., but you heard right! Thats not the only reason BY FAR, that its a truly Fabulous night, but that is one heck of a great perk of the night! Some other things that make it great (besides the very obvious enjoyment of feeling totally Free to be "me" without worry of a bunch of un-needed B.S.) are A)No obnoxious line-jumping and other such jackassery B)No equally obnoxious basketball bouncing C)Everyone in the park, from guests to employees, are without fail having a GREAT time and enjoying all of the GOOD things an amusement park CAN offer. Side note.... I truly wish they would open Surf Dog and Woodstock Gliders for the event

Bout time you posted this, Cody, LOL! I had to Google it last week to find out when it was, ticket prices, etc etc. Even though I missed it last year while trying to keep my business operational, it would take a Global ending event to keep myself and two incredibly special Friends of mine away this year!!

Which is why Id never be at a Media event for a ride (or park) that I truly felt may ride or operate like junk. Sparky, who has never ridden T Anything, and has never been to a park in Lousiville.

I think said PR person is clinging to strongly to the old adage "Even bad publicity is publicity".

That ride DESERVES to be Underground... as in DEEP underground in the scrap pile. I remember the first time I rode it, after waiting in an hour long line.... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR is an understatement as to my emotions when I got off. -
I was going to say.... Im an ACE member (until November) and if I think a coaster is junk, Im going to say its junk, darn the torpedoes. However, I also have a deep-seated disdain for members of the press and video Media, so I dont talk to any of them as it is. And yes, BoddaH, maybe the Blobb in question gets away with it, because he is so TWISTYYYYYY!!!

Its actually a triple-down element within the tunnel, and that is the only thing that is altered by the MCBR. Once you get out of the triple-down, and past the very first rise after that, the ride experience is much the same as it always has been.
