CP announces maXair
TheKlockster replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes there are more - Nagashima Frisbee, at Nagashima Spaland Japan is identical in every way to our Delirium - including color scheme. From the CP website - it looks like maXair will have a slightly different color scheme. Plus there is a prototype Giant Frisbee in Bremen Germany, at the Huss factory. -
Yeah - if you got your pass before Nov 7, you get free parking for all of 2005!

I think the free parking is nice! I didn't get my first SGP until September, so I didn't get to do any of the perks. But I think they are all great. The early rides are cool, and the 2x Tuesday sounds cool. I am not going to go on BFFD. I like to go when I can actually ride stuff.

I think a Huss Jump 2 is about as close to an ideal flat ride as you can come! www.coasters2k.com/downloads Go here and see an excellent video of Sledgehammer at Paramount's Canada's Wonderland, if you want to see a Jump 2 in action! For and ideal roller coaster, I think SOB is as close as you can get. I can't imagine a better ride than SOB.

Italian Job is going to be awesome! I used to think it would be dumb, but then I took a different approach to it. I really enjoy Adventure Express. Sure, it's a family ride, but it is really enjoyable, and I ride it frequently when I need a break from SOB or Beast or Vortex. IJST will be slightly faster than AE, but will use a two LIM power-launches, and a LIM boost. That will add a lot of intensity to the ride. In addition, the theming is going to be unbelievable. I hope Jeff is wrong about the theming breaking by 2006. At first, I was mad cause I thought they were tearing out the Eagles for a kiddie coaster. But now I look forward to it. I think it will be very fun. Like I said, I enjoy Adventure Express, and even Rugrats Runaway Reptar (but won't ride it unless it is not busy). So I will like IJST too. But don't get me wrong, I don't spend all my time riding Kiddie rides - I plan to be at 500 SOB rides by next season! My main beef with IJST is that it only has 12 people per train. I don't know how many trains there will be, but that is low capacity. If it runs 3 trains, thats only like 530 people an hour. I figure - its about the same duration as AE, and if it runs 3 12-person trains, as opposed to AEs 3 36-person trains, it will have 1/3 the capacity of AE. I hope I am wrong, so if anybody has better stats on this, please do prove me wrong! I just hope IJST doesn't become host to the longest lines in the park. I love Face/Off, but it just isn't worth the wait most of the time. I have done it a few times though where I was able to walk on, without waiting, and other times where I had to wait an hour. I hope IJST has at least a moderate capacity.

Sorry, but I just can't picture an Addams Family Dive Machine. Dive Machines are ultra extreme. I would picture an Addams Family ride of being a small wild mouse or something like that. The one and only movie I can see going with a B&M Dive Machine is The Core.

Countdown to Opening Day

I know November isn't quite over, but you have to admit, it flew by really fast. I hope the rest of the winter goes by equally as fast. -
Countdown to Opening Day
TheKlockster replied to KIfan73's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Its really not that long if you think about it. It seems like just yesterday that I took the last ride on The Beast (Nov 7). And it's already December! 20% of the time between Nov 7 and April 8 has elapsed! I hope this winter continues to go as quickly. -
I was wondering that myself! Man, someone who would wear that would be REALLY devoted to PKI!
-
Good job! I love the new layout!

Sweet! I just signed on and was shocked when I noticed my post count went from 80 to 397 in a matter of an hour and a half or so.
-
I saw that (think I posted something about it earlier too ). Anyhoo, I think that is awesome. How it ties the rides together. My favorite roller coaster, and the first one I wasn't scared spitless to ride are somewhat related! So has AEs theme always been to get to Outpost 5?

You have to take your pass to the admissions window. Not a regular ticket booth, but the admissions window. They will verify that your pass is valid, and generate a free ticket for that park. You can't just walk in and hand your PKI pass to the scanner at the turnstyles. But you can get one free ticket per day per park per pass. Meaning, if you go to Carowinds next year (I probably will), you let them scan your pass at the admissions window, and they will give you one free ticket. If a group of five PKI passholders is going, then each of them will recieve one free ticket. After that, it works like a regular ticket. If you leave, and want to come back, you have to have your hand stamped. If you come back the next day, you have to do it again.

I agree, they probably would make a return. I'd rather get something new, like a Jump2. I went to a some roller coaster site today, and downloaded a video of Sledgehammer at Paramounts Canadas Wonderland. It beats the crap out of Delirium. I hope we get one! Seriously, if you haven't seen it, look it up on google. Its awesome! I have to admit. I got pulverized my last ride on SOB. But I still love it. I hope to be at 500 rides by the end of next season. I just cant convey in words how cool SOB is.

Ive had so much trouble with servers recently, Id just prefer to blame everything on the DNS! I too would like to keep my post count. I have a lot on PKIU, but I am fairly new on PKIC.
-
I know late last night, the entire site was down for a while, and then it came back up. Not just the forums, but the entire site. Is the DNS already done?

Can you accept raw .dv footage? I am not sure if quicktime can export to avi.

Where I come from, I believe they call that a quote pyramid! You see ALOT of them on www.sg1archive.com/forums! I was sad to see the Flyers go. I never rode Tiques. They looked really boring. Like somebody on one of the board said - If you miss Tiques that much, drive your car through a wooded area at every low speed for the same effect. But the Flyers were really cool. Italian Job looks OK. Even though Son of Beast is my favorite, I like Adventure Express. It is a decent and easy ride, and it has cool theming. I think Italian Job will be the same way. Very low on thrills, but a nice ride, and the theming will be cool. What you will have to watch out for is that it is a very low capacity ride. Expect lines like Drop Zone and Face Off. So I probably won't ride it a lot unless I can walk on. The same goes for AE. If theres more than a 10 minute wait, I won't ride it. After a couple rides on IJST, it will probably be the same. Why wait an hour for IJST when you can wait 15 minutes for the tallest, fastest, roughest, most extreme and only looping woodie in the known universe?

If you are going to be in the Bobsled Team, you have got to be able to handle it! We start out with a ride on The Beast, to get warmed up. Then we go to Delirium - cause no non-delirius person would ever ride Thornberries in 40 degree weather. Then its off to Wild Thornberries River Adventure. After Bobsled Practice (if we don't capsize and increase the 2005 death toll by 5 before the season even starts), its off to Son of Beast for the cool down cycle. Then a ride on Zephyr to dry off, and a final ride on The Beast to relax. Overall, its a grueling routine. Lunch is typically after Delirium, at the Mandarin Cuisine. There may or may not be a second, third, fourth and fifth lunch - depending on whether or not there is a hungry reverend-chef in your group. :chef: Well if you can handle it, its really fun. Just let me know if you're up to it! :cowboy:

:censored: She's not my girlfriend! Sorry. I didn't know that. I thought she was.
-
Oh, I am definately doing the boat next year. I'm hoping that Ryan Nathan and Dane will do it also. If Ryans girlfriend doesnt go, we will need another person! Come on guys! Lets make PKI Bobsledding History!!! April 8, 2005 (if Thornberries is open). All I have left is FoF, Duhlee, DZ and Skycoaster. Slingshot is awesome! If anybody needs that credit, and is willing to ride it with a stranger, just let me know!

I'm not quite sure what to make of that. It kind of looks cool, but it kind of looks dumb. You fall for about 15 feet, then go horizontally, then do it over and over. I am guessing the seats spin according to the forces on it. It would be better if the spun according to a motor, so you are twisting and turning the whole way down. The seats do spin right? Economically it looks great. It looks very fun, and is in a really small footprint.

There is nothing wrong with a Nick Central expansion in 2006! Sure, it would be nice to get a new really cool coaster sometime soon, but we are getting the Italian Job next year. Kiddie Land can use an expansion. I could live forever with the park just the way it is now. Improvements are nice, and so even when Kiddie Land, an area of the park I don't frequent (but can appreciate, having a baby sister), gets expanded, I am happy about it. Im glad to have a theme park. For three years I lived in Bozeman, Montana, with the nearest theme park about 5 hours away. And it makes Strickers Grove look fancy! So I get excited over the Italian Job, or NC Expanision, or a new B&M. Its all good!

Why wouldn't they just keep Fearfest the way it is, and add Winterfest? It would take a few weeks to set up, but they could do that all of November, and most of December. I think it would be cool if they did a big christmas light thing like the Zoo does. Could you imagine SOB completely lit up with christmas lights? That would be awesome! Probably will never happen, but it would still be awesome!

Roller Coaster Corporation of Texas? Is that affiliated by RCCA? That is the address that is on the RCDB listing for Togo. I didn't research it - I just posted it!
