How many amusement parks (and theme parks) have you visited?
silver2005 replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
I've been around to quite a few parks. My family took vacations a lot, and about every other one involved an amusement park visit. All of these sans the bottom 4 are parks my family took me to. Since my family isn't into that much anymore, I'm on my own to expand my repertoire. Here's my list. Kings Island Coney Island (didn't ride anything) Cedar Point Hersheypark Paramount's Kings Dominion (at the time) Six Flags Great Adventure Dollywood Walt Disney World- Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Universal Studios Florida Kentucky Kingdom Holiday World Michigan's Adventure Kennywood -
This is a minor suggestion, but I wish the supports on Bat would be solid black instead of the dark gray we actually got.

^I follow a lot of other forums other than this one, including one I used to belong to, with international members, and I consistently read better reports about the reliability of the newer style Mack coasters than I do Intamins.
-
Just because you haven't been on a coaster doesn't mean you don't have an idea on how it'll perform. If you ride enough coasters, you can get how elements flow at different speeds. I've been hearing a lot of positive stuff about Mack's newer stuff. Mack is in a position to do pretty much anything Intamin can do with much better reliability, that's why we're mentioning them.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. I was referring to what they did before they redesigned the curve.
-
^And last I checked, I-305 had to have its first curve redesigned and even had trims all the way down its first hill due to black outs. The GOP and even a lot of enthusiasts aren't too keen on sustained positive G's, even if its only 2-3 G's.
-
How about no low curve after a 300 ft drop after how I-305's turned out.

I know Hershey has fantastic ribs around the base of Storm Runner's top hat. Also, with all the trolling they've done to me with their dessert posts on social media, I'm probably going to indulge in one. Just so y'all know, Hershey is my 2nd favorite park only topped by Dollywood. I'm beyond excited to be able to return this season. Great Bear, Storm Runner, Lightning Racer, and Comet are coasters I'd consider my happy places.

I wonder if Morgan would ever considering building another giga.

Totally random under rated things in the park

Oh really? I've never been able to tell. -
Timberwolf is probably hilariously out of date for any band to consider playing there, even for free exposure. Timberwolf isn't in the same ballpark as Riverbend or places like Bogarts (where smaller bands tend to gravitate). When's the last time Timberwolf was even updated (I'm talking top to bottom)? How about inviting the plethora of community bands and orchestras that operate in the summer?

Cedar Point's entrance also isn't surrounded by employee and admissions buildings like Kings Island's is. KI's entrance is pretty iconic as is and doesn't need a coaster going across it, not to mention there's a lot of other buildings and paths said coaster would have to navigate around to even get to that point.

I know the Eiffel Tower view from the entrance is a great shot, but I feel I-Street from any other angle in terms of photos are highly underused. I also love eating around the fountain as well. Wonderful spot to relax and have a meal (when the weather is perfect of course, not too hot). I enjoy walking past the fountains on the way out. Makes exiting the park a nice way to cap off the day. Not many other park exitings do that for me (Hershey is up there for me as well). I also enjoy the walk back to Soak City. Its a nice quiet moment compared to the noise of the rest of the park. -
I can think of a lot of reasons not to use that chant...

Waldameer it is then. I'll probably pull a malem and get up super early and do it on the way to my hotel. Morey's is a bit out of my way. May work it in a future trip though. I'll also probably need to work in 2 days for R&R between park visits, one for after my trip to Waldameer and one sometime before I tackle NJFTP (ideally, I'm trying to save NJFTP till last). EDIT: Given how far Waldameer is from the rest of the parks and where I plan on staying, I may stay up near Waldameer for a night. I don't think I could drive that far after a park visit.

DB in row 12 outer right is my preferred seat. The best coaster seat in the park is Beast 1-1 at night. silver2005, who will gladly wait through the 10 cycle wait for the front at least once a year for a night ride. -
There were never lockers in the area by the Freestyle building and rope ladder games.

I believe it was to ease wear and tear on the chain lift motors and chains. There's a lot of tension that occurs when the train quickly disengages the lift. Arrows were especially prone to those problems. B&M just happened to find the right curvature to get just the right acceleration to do away with them (which is why early B&M's have them and the most recent models don't). Just look at off ride footage of B&M's falling off the lift and compare it to other coasters of earlier eras and you'll see what I mean. B&M's don't normally just fly off the lift down the hill. Its a bit more gradual than a lot of other coasters.

Cedar Point needs to install a giant wall of bug zappers around the entire park during mayfly season. And perhaps a wind deterring device around its WindSeeker....

I've been seeing a message on Lakemont Park's website still saying they don't have 2018 info yet. I'm strongly considering replacing it with Waldameer at this point. Has anyone here been to Morey's Piers? Thoughts? Also, even if I cut Lakemont and only go with 4 parks, I still can get to 100 credits. Also also, I'm not doing SFA.

I wonder how long they would have went with prototype rides and switched over to more reliable manufactures (within restrictions such as the CP B&M clause with Kings Island and Canada's Wonderland). One thing I never got was why Paramount never used Star Trek in any ride theming outside of BORG: Assimilator. I would worry that KI would have Transformers theming just to add more fuel to Bay's fire (or in this case, explosions). Also, I wonder what the kids area would look like since Nickelodeon has really dropped off the radar.

All the news stations usually stop by within a few weeks of opening day, so we'll know more then.
