Mine was way back in the fall of 2009 on one of the many SOB threads at the time due to it being a few months after it closed for good after the incident it had that year. It was regarding how CF was handling SOB in relation to Paramount. I did post a lot on here back then and up to the 2013 Banshee decoding thread (aka the greatest decoding thread in history) both because C-Net had very little in the way of fellow OH/KY/IN members and as a way to be an affiliate member here so I could use said info on Coaster-Net as I was an amateur journalist for the site before it became awful and I left. And the rest is history.
-
There's a significant fanbase SOB still has even 9 years post mortem. Some people just prefer forceful and even rough coasters.

^I'd be for bringing back PTC's with buzz bars.

For steel (and overall) it has to go to the defunct Viper at NJFTP. A sitdown Togo with the worst restraints, lots of jackhammering, the most claustrophobic design with the support rings (because it had the first ever heartline roll along with an inclined dive loop, both way out of Togo's league). The replacement is much, much better. For wood, its Son of Beast post-loop removal. Boring layout made worse by removing one of the 2 best elements (the first drop was the other), and add trains not designed for it (not that the Premiers were all that much better, but the G-Trains were much, much worse, at least with the larger trains the thing had decent lateral airtime on the 2nd hill near the front of the train) and barely made it over the hills. Also has a much better replacement.

With the 2020 passes being good for 2021, is there anything said 2020 passholders have to do or are the passes just good from the get-go?
-
I wonder why CF even acquired MIA in the first place. The only major coaster they put there was Thunderhawk out of the fact that GL closed (yep, CF didn't give them Shivering Timbers).
-
I actually wish MIA were not a chain park. I feel it could have potential as a decent smaller park a la Kennywood or Knoebels. They'd need owners who'd actually care for the park in that way. Its clear CF isn't going to do that on a regular basis.

Any and all decisions regarding Son of Beast aside from tearing it down. Removing the trams.

I'm not too concerned on how they're doing it, but in any case, I feel Racer has improved in ride quality over the last few years. I've had some of my best rides ever on it in the last 5 years or so, particularly on the Blue side.

I said non-capsizing.

Who makes modern non-capsizing log flumes anymore though?

Aquaman Getting Delayed to 2022
silver2005 replied to ThrillKingsFitzy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Mack is a German company, so they probably can't come to the US to even help build the thing. I also believe Mack ships from there as well a la Intamin. -
[What if] Park exchange.

The employees who work at parks wouldn't enjoy the instability of changing management in such a crazy way. -
Indianan Beach To Add 2 Rides for 2021
silver2005 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
One other note on the intensity with the Schwarzkopf, the one being placed at IB has circular loops. That alone makes a world of difference. Whereas with the teardrop shape loops, you only have brief moments with the positive G's, with circular ones, those G's are sustained longer. The big ones also whip through there pretty fast if you ever catch a POV or an off-ride video. Anton was was less calculating in his designs than his the competitor Ron Toomer. Also, a lot of the design lines you'll find on Schwarzkopfs helped influence both Intamin and B&M as engineers from both have roots working with Anton. He's one of my favorite influential figures in the history of roller coasters because of how most of the higher end steel coaster companies derive their designs from his work. -
Is Kings Island the new #1 ahead of Cedar Point?
silver2005 replied to RayFields's topic in Kings Island
I prefer CP to KI by just a smidge. I actually don't mind the food up at Cedar Point and think the complaints about CP's food are a tad overstated. KI does have better entertainment, better wooden coasters, and a better water park. I like CP's location on the lake, its got a good variety of flats, and I think CP's intermediate coaster collection vastly outdoes Kings Island's. I find the likes of Iron Dragon, CCMR, Gemini, and Blue Streak quite fun even given their mediocre stats compared to other rides. CP also doesn't have the empty building eye sores like KI does with Action Theater, the SOB station, and the Crypt building. I also find CP a bit more aesthetically pleasing. -
Kings Island Camp Cedar to Open Spring 2021
silver2005 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
With all the infrastructure work going on in that area coupled with this, I wonder if we could see even more development of the area around Kings Island than there already is. -
I'd agree with KD being a close second (went there in 2004 and rather liked the park). The big mystery to me was Great America and the whole thing involving Stealth. They put it there (it was expensive as it was the prototype Vekoma Flying Dutchman, there was a TON of R&D cash shoveled into it), let it run a few years, and then put in a water park. Wasn't Paramount also starting a SIX-esque ride rotation thing? I distinctly remember one of the Flight of Fear twins being relocated in-chain around when Stealth moved to Carowinds (along with a possible MTV re-theme including music hardware a la Disney's Rock N' Roller Coaster). I think Hypersonic XLC was in that discussion as well.

Indianan Beach To Add 2 Rides for 2021
silver2005 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Those big Schwarzkopfs are allegedly Anton's masterpieces according to many an enthusiast. Very intense, lots of high positive G's (I believe Olympia Looping pulls up to 5) I'm dragging myself to Indiana Beach to ride it if that's the case. -
I'm adding Hersheypark. Very much a traditional amusement park, but it blends its past being apart of the initial history of parks with modern touches and ride collection. It doesn't commit to having a kids section, but rather sprinkles a mix of larger and smaller rides throughout. The Hershey influence (aka, the candy stuffs) isn't overdone but adds its own charm. Its a very clean and beautiful park, the food is excellent. They keep all their wooden coasters in tip top shape (Comet runs like its new).
-
I feel like if the park was doing a winter event, it'd be announced by now.

I want Invertigo, but I'm not sure how willing Vekoma would be to make up new trains with their vest system, especially for such a rare model.
