  1. Its really sad to see @gforce1994 having to keep being reminded to actually prove his points time after time, almost as if he can't or doesn't want to. If you have to keep being browbeaten to do this, you're clearly not a reliable source of information, regardless of how much alleged knowledge you claim to have. And I've been to Coaster Nation, its a pretty hacky site when it comes to park industry news.
  2. ^As a college professor would say- show your work. Also, you can't double down forever.
  3. I think capacity is a vastly overrated stat on its own when judging if a coaster should stay or not. There are other factors that can override efficiency when it comes to the purpose of keeping a ride around. CCMR, Corkscrew, and Iron Dragon are all very good starter/intermediate coasters for kids jumping up from Woodstock Express and Wilderness Run. They're all under 100 ft, they have few or no inversions, they aren't that forceful, and they're accessible to that kind of demographic when it comes to height restrictions as none are above 48". Also, S&S still supplies parts and all 3 are smaller layouts for each of their types respectively. I think one of the Intamins will be next to leave, either Wicked Twister or TTD. Magnum has a good chance as well seeing that Vortex just bit the dust due to end of life expectancy.
  4. Listen @malem, HP and Knoebels already have the distinction of troll food posting. Don't need you and KI moving in on my happy food places. Seriously though, all this new food better be there next season.
  5. I'm sure if pressed, RMC would build a coaster with a vertical loop. They already do dive loops and Immelmans.
  6. The location would be a bit awkward to work with, but what about Wild Adventures in Georgia on the Florida boarder? They have a decent ride collection to work with at the very least.
  7. I feel like one of the Backlot trio should end up in Muskegon.
  8. I wonder if B&M would go beyond vertical for a dive coaster.
  9. ^Well, all you do is just change the angles on a bit of track and/or change up the elements and it will fit fine w/o removing anything. KI isn't likely to put a clone of anything, especially on the scale of a B&M or Mack launch coaster. Also, the largest floorless is KD's Dominator for overall length (4,210 ft) and SFFT's Superman: Krypton Coaster for height (168 ft) out of the non-dive floorlesses. Most are in the ballpark of Vortex's size, so very possible to put a large floorless there.
  10. I think tunnels at the top of hills like on Magnum and Voyage to an extent are very effective and gives more of a prolonged head chopper effect and a bit of a claustrophobic feel. Helix tunnels like on Beast and Legend are also nice. I'd love to see enclosed inversions or even a coaster entirely enclosed in a tunnel (not like an indoor coaster, the tunnel being enclosed with the walls and ceiling close to the track).
  11. ^I've been to both as I had a grandfather who worked on parts to work on machines that built aircraft parts at GE and my dad worked as an accountant at P&G (he was in Boston for the merger with Gillette). The difference is GE doesn't limit their tickets like P&G does which results in GE Day being more packed than P&G Dividend Day. Like, there are times you can walk on to 1-1 on Banshee or DB. I also notice the employees there on P&G Day top to bottom are more on the up and up compared to the rest of the season since the park is filled with potential season pass buyers with some actual money to throw around. Also, the season pass discounts (for new and renewals) on those days are quite nice. I always renewed my pass that weekend, either in person or having my parents do it for me.
  12. Anyone who's been to this can attest this is the weekend of magic because everything (and I do mean everything) is a walk on. You can probably go on a 1-1 marathon of every coaster its so lightly crowded. Not surprised its cancelled though. Although, with how light the crowds are that weekend, it'd be easy to social distance and such.
  13. People are going to come back to parks regardless of what they add next season (given we get a normal season) as most people opted to not go this year and are probably going to do a lot of things they couldn't do this year in droves.
  14. We're talking about the same company that screwed up a log flume, one of the most basic of ride concepts. I don't have a lot of trust in a ride company like that.
  15. Ax to grind? Hardly. I wish Intamin was in a better position. I rather like a lot of their rides. Innovation isn't as big an issue with me as is ride quality and experience. I just don't think they're capable of digging themselves out of the whole they're in with all the issues they've accumulated.
  16. With B&M, I know their track record and they know they can deliver concepts with decent long term quality. When I see Intamin and their poorer track record taking in 4 concepts that have been done before at the same time, it looks to me they're clinging to relevancy.
  17. I'll be honest, the 'new' concepts by Intamin might be the most desperate thing I've seen out of a ride company.
  18. ^T-Rex just uses 2 per seat seating over single file seating.
  19. All RMC Raptors are when you get down to basics are standard sit down steel looping coasters that use tighter angles for stronger forces and reinforced track for less use of supports. Also, I would consider a height or speed record to be somewhat groundbreaking- its the way they design a coaster to do it that fits in a realistic ROI scenario, and so far, the 3 recent examples are TTD and KK (clones with a hill added in KK) and Formula Rossa which is just a bunch of wide turns and stretched out hills.
  20. ^Those elements would still have to have very wide curvatures to accommodate those speeds at low altitudes plus a long pull out for the first drop. Also, been done before- I-305. Not groundbreaking.
  21. ^I would add to that line of conversation that the only ways to change the game in terms of coaster technology is going for overall height (above 456 ft) and speed records (above 150 mph) and making the seating mechanisms move in ways that haven't been thought of yet, which, we know Intamin has been the only one that went for the records and companies that produce the later are looked down upon here (though personally, I wouldn't mind a S&S 4D or a spinner of some sort). RMC has only really just adjusted a few curvatures in elements to produce stronger forces, not that much of a game changer. Adding LIMs/LSM's to a type that hasn't had them before isn't all that groundbreaking either. Wood coasters have already been pushed to their limits which have produced mixed results. Traditional woodies can only do so much comfortably and there are track maintenance issues with the Intamin pre-fabs. Also going for the height and speed records would pretty much come in the form of TTD/Kingda Ka clones or Formula Rossa clones unless a park is willing to fork some serious cash for a MF/Fury 325 on steroids. There's also space issues in making a coaster go faster and higher takes up massive amounts of space. I honestly think we've reached the plateau of new coaster technology.
  22. I would also point out that even the old school B&M's like Raptor, Rougarou, Talon and Great Bear have a rattle to them.
  23. And for those who state Spirit Song- a portable stage would be a better venue with how outdated and unkempt Timberwolf has devolved into.
  24. ^^Didn't know KI was giving out free sunglasses with meals now.
  25. Pink survey marker flags are temporary. They don't tell anything. There's this thing called grey area.
