  1. K, and that poster will be sold at the park, yes? Please?
  2. Not doubting you, but I guess I didn't realize it was all that. I remember the celebrity display and the live animals in Slaughterhouse disappearing before opening weekend, but KIC wasn't a part of either happening, if I remember correctly.
  3. I'm so curious about what kind of show it's gonna be. Gonna go ahead and be That Guy™: do you think it'll be another Haut-Vol production?
  4. They're opening it at the closing ceremony. It'll be so awesome, it'll melt your face off!
  5. I, for one, would be delighted if Beast was turned into a CCI during this renovation. Just to play it safe, though, I'm probably not gonna hold my breath on that one.
  6. Can I, pretty pretty please with a cherry on top, make a special request to said admin team to film the rededication, if there were not already plans to do so? Completely unrelated, you're looking very dapper today, and also, [insert other schmoozings to help make that happen.]
  7. You're not alone on that. Here's the thing: The person at the queue entrance can glance at the queue at that moment and semi-accurately guess what the wait will be. That's the exact same process for what happens for the app wait times; it's just done hourly instead of on demand. To get more accurate than that, they'd either need to call EVERY ride more frequently or install a digital system of some sort, which is going to cost money. This is coming from the chain whose front-of-line system is a wristband instead of the more intricate (some would argue more fair) digital systems out there. Cedar Fair doesn't seem to be super into putting more cost into overhead than is absolutely necessary.
  8. I think they repainted the concrete. Which is weird, because the original didn't look that bad, but I ain't complaining.
  9. SHUT UP. This is amazing. There was part of me that wondered if the park would revive the Celebration show, but honestly this is just as good for me.
  10. So uh, my pipe dreams are coming true. One of my favorite things is when parks have unique food offerings. I love the idea of Sweet Spot but haven't been over the moon with it because of how much of it is not made in-house. Yes please! This year is going to be AMAZING.
  11. ^ Definitely agreed. Going completely in-house on restaurants, I imagine, would be a risky maneuver and one that could require a lot of prestige and customer confidence to work. Disney gets away with it by being Disney. I don't think any major seasonal park could follow suit.
  12. Personally, I'm glad for this. I prefer unique dining experiences to chains in parks most of the time. If I wanted Subway, Skyline, Tom + Chee, etc., I could and would just go to one. Realistically, I know people for whom Subway is one of very few restaurants they can eat at because of allergies, and I'm not excited about this change for them. Sure, they could just as easily leave the park, get food somewhere else (packed lunch in the car, go to another location, etc.), and come back, but still. I don't know any park's allergen-sensitive menus well enough to know if this poses a problem, but brand recognition goes a long way regardless.
  13. This seems like the most reasonable assumption. I'm gonna go ahead and blindly assume this has all been Big Coaster at work.
  14. Many people say that if you don't have something nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all. I'm going to use that mantra to describe my feelings on Sidewinder, regardless of how zhuzhed up it might be, for the rest of this post:
  15. Gonna need to ask for a source on this one.
  16. I worked in Rides from Haunt 2017 through summer 2018. I was hired during a job fair. That was one of the best jobs I've ever had. To date, it's the job where I have been most consistently surrounded by passionate, enthusiastic people who want to do good work. Everyone on my team was there to be safe and have fun. I miss working there often. If you're thinking of applying, do it.
  17. I know nothing, but: "Project Soul" sounds a lot to me like the name of a project whose goal is to restore character to an amusement park whose previous owners lost sight of the original vision. It'd sure align well with a 50th anniversary celebration and a bunch of rides getting repainted.
  18. It's also my understanding that there are ZERO HUSS Top Spins, of any variety, in the Cedar Fair chain anymore. Our Crypt was the first of a very quick and very quiet removal of them all. I believe Kings Dominion's was the last remaining one.
  19. [grumbles something under his breath about how Beast's entrance was perfect before SOMEone built a giant red coaster in Rivertown]
  20. So, what I'm hearing is that *you* are the Dippin' Dots guy. Tell us your secrets.
  21. I'd forgotten about that. "It's okay, at least midget wrestling is coming back" made me absolutely lose it. How I don't miss that era. HOW IS THAT VIDEO 10 YEARS OLD. I remember it being posted here like it was yesterday.
  22. That part was really confusing to me, too. I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here: I think the post is saying that, prior to this redesign, the structures of the upper track and the lower track merged into one big structure before the tunnel. That merged structure had a higher amount of sway to it as the train passed over it that caused the ride to be rough. The Gravity Group is redesigning the supports in that area to remain separate and unmerged until the tunnel itself. Separating the structures until then will allow both structures to be more rigid, which will reduce the sway and lead to a smoother ride.
  23. And to think... I liked you. Remember, kids, nothing gold can stay.
  24. That, and Pennsylvania has VERY different regulations than Ohio.
