  1. I had never heard of the "scream shields" before. Then I googled it. Oh my. CedarPointer, who thought for YEARS that the name of the ride was "Mailboomer". Shows how much I know.
  2. That doesn't help the "rumor"...
  3. Does that mean that at McDonald's you get free fries with your combo meal? It's included in the price of the combo meal, it isn't free... and Boomerang Bay is included with KI admission last time I checked... I really do need to go to HW some day.
  4. IIRC, at the Ride Warrior Weekend Q&A, they said that PTC's recommendations had something to do with it...
  5. I haven't seen anything out in the park, and CP (which has new merchandise and female rides uniforms this season) still used the red/green/blue plaid and blue apron when I was up there. However, they use blue shorts instead of khaki shorts. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm there, though.
  6. Then someone would just start another thread when their aunt's uncle's cousin's wife's brother's cousin-twice-removed's dog says it saw SoB testing.
  7. "KEEP ARMS DOWN AND INSIDE CAR." "KEEP ARMS DOWN AND INSIDE CAR." "KEEP ARMS DOWN AND INSIDE CAR." Maybe they actually *gasp* meant it.
  8. Most of the signs on the drink machines still show the 2009 cups, if you look closely, it also shows the old 2009 Diamondback cup instead of the orange 2010 one. It's not that big of a difference, they probably thought nobody would notice.
  9. I would assume it's operated by the park. Did anyone else notice that the 2010 map still refers to "Launch Pad" being there?

  11. Hey, at least it's better than visitcedarfairskingsislandamusementparkinmasonohio.com! Or "WWW.KINGSISLANDRESORT" which is painted on some the Kings Island Resort busses...
  12. I have seen it operating almost every time I've been in that end of Coney Mall.
  13. If you look at archive.org, it used to redirect to the PKI site.
  14. As of today, the Coney Refreshments signs have been removed (or, at least, covered up) replaced with large souvenir cup advertisements (those "refill station" ones). Also, the Picnic Grove also has a very nice looking arch at its entrance. Interesting to see the park making changes like this midseason- and the new picnic grove sign looks great! Very similar to the Planet Snoopy arch.
  15. It might have also been a group that gave them out, but there were definitely a lot of them.
  16. Am I the only person who thinks it doesn't taste like blueberry? I mean, it tastes very good, but it doesn't taste like blueberry to me. Must just be me.
  17. There was a promotion early in the season where they gave out very small buttons to guests... I'm *still* finding them occasionally. People have no respect for other people's things anymore...

  19. Kentucky Kingdom: it's gonna be fun.
  20. I wouldn't cry if Ocean Motion left. To put it lightly, it was not my favorite pirate ship ever.
  21. IMO, the economy getting better in any way will probably be good for the parks. High gas prices and the economy improving could even balance each other out- not great for parks, but better than any drop in attendance that could happen. Hopefully their prediction is wrong, though. CedarPointer, wondering why every topic ends up being jolted off-topic by those who seemingly need to inform everyone that they feel the prices at the park are too high...
  22. I've heard some good things from friends, I'll have to try a Street pretzel (which is quite different from a street pretzel!).
  23. Having had both (haven't had Backyard BBQ yet this year, though, but I've heard good things about it), I would probably choose the Backyard BBQ, but Rivertown Junction is also really good. The food quality at Junction was good, definitely better than some buffets I've been to outside the park (Hometown Buffet, I'm lookin' at you). My only complaint was that the fries were old and didn't seem salted at all (not sure if they're supposed to be salted), but I mentioned it to someone and they brought fresh ones out without a problem. I think the only reason that I prefer the Backyard BBQ is because of the cost, but if you enjoy the type of food served at Junction, it would definitely be worth the extra cost.
