I am sure it is a once in a life time experience and was very cool! Wish we could have meet up!
-
I picked up Jesse (Avatar) at 6:30AM and we heading towards Mason, OH. We had a nice conversation and trip over. Once we got there I wanted to upgrade my Gold pass to Platinum. So I headed to the ticket booth to process. Here is a picture of Ro Tag, Tom76257, and Gigacoaster holding up their pass and my new pass. (Not sure what is up with Tom?) We headed to DB and had an amazing ride on it. There was about 7 KIC'ers together at this point so we headed towards Beast. Beast decided to be a little difficult and went down 2 cycles before we got on. We waited it out for a while, but gave up and headed to look at WS. We meet a few other KIC'ers outside Beast and we decided to hit up Crypt to see the new theming. There was some changes in the queue and the music is quite awesome during the ride. If you were wanting a different cycle you will be disappointed, but the ride seemed to be very smooth during the cycle. After Crypt we headed to see WS. Here are the pictures I took of WS during the daylight hours. We then headed towards Racer for a ride. The park was packed and the line was almost to the Coney Mall entrance sign, and that was with most of the switch backs open. Blue side was the side open. There was about 12 of us ridding and when we got 2/3 way up the lift will the train stopped and about 15 minutes later we had to be evacuated from the ride. This was a very cool experience to have been a part of especially when almost half the train was KIC'ers! This will be a great story to share for years to come! Thanks to KI staff for getting us off safely and making this a memorable experience! A few of us went up into the ET and we then meet back up with rest of the group to watch American Country. We decided to hit up Lunch at Rivertown Junction. Ryan, Robbie and myself at RJ. Gary and Jeese Ryan, Robbie, and Jesse After getting over stuffed at RJ, we headed to the train to let it settle. here is Gary and Michael on the train. Robbie and Cory with Keith and Jesse behind them. After the train ride, I had a interview with Don Helbig live on the radio with the Indianapolis radio station I work for back in Indianapolis. I hope to post that interview once I can get to the station and get the interview uploaded somewhere! After the interview we meet back up with Robbie and Michael (Oldiesmann) for a ride on FD. The new painted track looks great! I hope the supports are planned for painting next season! We then decided we really wanted to ride Beast for we had heard the track work was awesome! We got a really great ride on Beast. The track work after the brake shed feels great! Way to go KI! Here we are in queue. Michael and I went and got another ride on DB A few pics of DB WS in the back ground. Looks like a lot of the ride ops lost a lot of phone before the start of season! LOL! We then meet back up with Jesse and headed towards WS to see the light package. Here are some pics. What a great light package. This is going to be an awesome night ride! Jesse and Michael Here is a video I took of the WS light package. This really does not do it any justice. We took a ride on Vortex and got on Racer right before the fireworks went off. WS as we are pulling out of the parking lot after the park closed. Ride Count: Beast 1, DB 2, Crypt 1, ET 1, FD 1, Racer 1.1, Train 1, Vortex 1, Total: 9.1 Even though the park was packed and we did not get very many rides in, we all had a great time. No one was upset lines were long or complaining about line jumpers. We didn't care some of the rides were having beginning of season issues (like being stuck on Racer.) We will cherish this day for years to come and have stories to share with new members and relatives, and that is what it is all about. Opening day reminded me why I became a member of KIC. I joined because I love Kings Island and wanted to meet other people who are just as excited about KI as myself. I hope everyone who was there yesterday or will be going soon will also remember why you love KI and became a member of KIC!

The evac could not have worked out better for the park and KIC. There we were about 10 to 12 of us KIC'ers on the train that was evaced. Being our group found it an honor to be evaced from the ride and getting an experience that not many others get was very cool! These things happen and as enthusiast we must understand this and know certain things can happen at the park!

Very nice report Way29! Thanks for sharing!

While you at it can we update our main page from 2007 to 2011? I still see the 2007 park calendar, Firehawk is listed under the new attaction, DB is not even listed, Nick universe and SOB is still on the menus.

Adventure Point @ Indiana Beach
IndyGuy4KI replied to rotag's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That is really interesting, I can not belevie they are moving rides around to make room for this. IB is going to look a lot different this year! -
Yep! GaGa better have cash in hand or she will have a Hart time getting funding!
-
I think a certain Giga is going to love this thread. I am guessing she will be using her own funding for this, instead of asking for state funding?

I just got it on my phone, 500 was the error number when hitting new updates. Was distracted and did not pay close attention, but could get to the stats updates page with no issues. Seems to only effect the forums.

Dinosaurs Alive! is coming to Kings Island in 2011
IndyGuy4KI replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
(Edit: Looks like standbyme and Cedarpointer beat me on this note... glad to know I wasn't the only one crossing my fingers. ) Seems like it is sitting to the right of the sign and flag poles to me, but I may be wrong. Look at the fountains in the back! -
What is the biggest prize you have ever won at Kings Island?
IndyGuy4KI replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
I have never won anything for I do not play games at KI. I can play lots of those types of games within minutes of my house. I drive 2 hrs to KI for the coaster and flats, so my interest in spending money at the games, Zilch! Now, I do stop and spend a few minutes watching other people try their chances at the games, but not to often. Anxious to hear what others have won, and I am also interested in where people place their 4ft tall stuffed animals that you see people carrying around in 90 degree heat. -

I think you are right. I see loops of wire handing down from there the seat would attach. -
Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
IndyGuy4KI replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I have seen people working on the red swing arms all day. With as much red there is, I am sure it is hard to see what is being done, but they look busy. -
I have gotten my family's in Oct for at lest the past 4 years, and never have had a problem. Although, I plan on upgrading my pass in a few weekends to platinum so I can go to CP, and possibly KD this summer, so I hope I am not jinxed by the same issues others have had at sister parks with theirs!

Plus this is an awesome day to get some work done! -
In optimal wind speeds and other conditions it may be able to go that fast. The speed claim could be potential speed, not necessarily average speed. Not necessarily a number about speed here, but take a look at the stats for our new wind seeker for instance. It says 1.280 riders per hour. For a 3 minute ride cycle, that is 20 cycles an hour and with 64 passengers each cycle= 1,280. Guess what, no unload/reload times are figured into that number. I am sure that is the number was given by the manufacturer, for at this point they don't know the actual # including load/reload time for they have never operated one of these yet.

They are hard at work on a Saturday morning! -
Someone needs to take the radar gun at the fast pitch throw game in Coney Mall and find out for sure!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
IndyGuy4KI replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I would be willing to bet it will be worked on all weekend to get it completed. I was a little nervous this time last week, but I think they have made great progress over the last few days and if they work all weekend they should have it operational by the middle to end of next week as you predict! -
Thanks for sharing, I liked the train exhibit!

If it looks as good in person as it does in the pictures that have been posted, I think they placed in the perfect spot! -
Point Perks 2011
IndyGuy4KI replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Excuse me? At Carowinds this past weekend, I not only ate in the park, but I purchased a shirt from the gift shop. At Kings Dominion, I ate in the park, and blew about $60 in the gift shops. I was walking around with a KD bag on my back and a $4 bottle of water in my hand. I still eat in the park and buy souvenirs at both KI and CP. Once again, my point was completely overlooked and yet another judgment was made about me and others. I am sick and tired of explaining that not all thrillseekers refuse to spend money in the park. This generalization, whether directed at me or not, is unnecessary and irrelevant, and it's really starting to tick me off. Comments like that are hurtful. I did not ask to be judged, but I guess that comes along with being a member of KICentral. I'm going back under again for a while. I'm sorry I started posting here again. I forgot that respect for others is not part of the agreement in the TOS. I have to agree with Angie. I almost always eat in the park, buy a few Cokes during the day, and always create a meetup thread on here. I end up usually meeting up with a few other people that may or many not have went otherwise on that day. They too usual eat lunch or buy a Coke or two. So yes, even us dire hard KI fans (even the ones that don't live within a 10 mile radius) spend our money in the park. As far as the ERT goes, I understand it is a privilege and I do not expect it, but for me and several others here and non KIC members, I do feel it brought pass holders into the park and money was spent. With KI possibly changing DB and Beast ERT I will probably not be as motivated to make the 2 hr, 140 mile drive over to KI as much this season. Will I enjoy ERT on WS and Vortex? Of course! Will it make me return to the park as much as it has the last 2 years and spend my nickels as Terpy would say? I hope so, but I am not sure you can beat 6 or 7 rides on DB and Beast during ERT in the morning after a 2 hr drive. I am afraid others will feel the same way and am sad KI might miss out on extra business because of that decision. That ERT was a major factor in which park I decided to head to on my day off. I really enjoyed it and made me not care that I spent a few more dollars in the park than I really should have or wanted too! -
Nice, thanks for posting and thanks for sharing KI!

This really makes sense to me for someone who works in the engineering department of a radio station. A lot of times opening electrical equipment up for inspection can be just as bad if not worse than testing the general functionality of the equipment as a whole to find any issues. Not opening them up also helps with the longevity/TCO of the equipment. This applied to CD, tape, and DAT players and other equipment used at a radio station. I am guessing the same rules would apply to a roller coaster?
