  1. Excuse me? At Carowinds this past weekend, I not only ate in the park, but I purchased a shirt from the gift shop. At Kings Dominion, I ate in the park, and blew about $60 in the gift shops. I was walking around with a KD bag on my back and a $4 bottle of water in my hand. I still eat in the park and buy souvenirs at both KI and CP. Once again, my point was completely overlooked and yet another judgment was made about me and others. I am sick and tired of explaining that not all thrillseekers refuse to spend money in the park. This generalization, whether directed at me or not, is unnecessary and irrelevant, and it's really starting to tick me off. Comments like that are hurtful. I did not ask to be judged, but I guess that comes along with being a member of KICentral. I'm going back under again for a while. I'm sorry I started posting here again. I forgot that respect for others is not part of the agreement in the TOS. I have to agree with Angie. I almost always eat in the park, buy a few Cokes during the day, and always create a meetup thread on here. I end up usually meeting up with a few other people that may or many not have went otherwise on that day. They too usual eat lunch or buy a Coke or two. So yes, even us dire hard KI fans (even the ones that don't live within a 10 mile radius) spend our money in the park. As far as the ERT goes, I understand it is a privilege and I do not expect it, but for me and several others here and non KIC members, I do feel it brought pass holders into the park and money was spent. With KI possibly changing DB and Beast ERT I will probably not be as motivated to make the 2 hr, 140 mile drive over to KI as much this season. Will I enjoy ERT on WS and Vortex? Of course! Will it make me return to the park as much as it has the last 2 years and spend my nickels as Terpy would say? I hope so, but I am not sure you can beat 6 or 7 rides on DB and Beast during ERT in the morning after a 2 hr drive. I am afraid others will feel the same way and am sad KI might miss out on extra business because of that decision. That ERT was a major factor in which park I decided to head to on my day off. I really enjoyed it and made me not care that I spent a few more dollars in the park than I really should have or wanted too!
  2. Nice, thanks for posting and thanks for sharing KI!
  3. This really makes sense to me for someone who works in the engineering department of a radio station. A lot of times opening electrical equipment up for inspection can be just as bad if not worse than testing the general functionality of the equipment as a whole to find any issues. Not opening them up also helps with the longevity/TCO of the equipment. This applied to CD, tape, and DAT players and other equipment used at a radio station. I am guessing the same rules would apply to a roller coaster?
  4. I hope they got a good clear instruction manual for putting it together! LOL!
  5. Very nice PTR, thanks for sharing!
  6. Thanks for sharing this detailed report Angie! I am getting my Platinum pass this year so I can go to CP, so I hope to also make it to KD as well!
  7. Do you know what ride you will be on?
  8. This poor dinosaur already have 4 different names. I would be showing my teeth at everyone as well if it was me!
  9. Might want to reply and quote the post next time so the rest of us are not confused, and hopefully it can be more than just an "attempt" at humor!
  10. While watching the WS cam, I have not seen Vortex or Racer testing for start of season. Not saying it has not happened, but when do they fire up the rides and start testing them? With 25 days left I would assume this has begun? How much testing do they go through? 10, 20, 30 successful cycles before they give it the all good?
  11. I hope it was not at me. I made the pavers comment because I was looking at the webcam and thought it was cool seeing them laying them down in their tetris looking config.
  12. I don't understand your post, what is this sarcasm about?
  13. I wonder when we will see that been installed on the ride? Those brick pavers look really cool as they are laying them.
  14. They built 2 WS's in the same state this year. Why would that be much different? Seems KI might have spent a little more money with Coney Mall renovations and DA this year than CP!
  15. I wonder how long that will take, and where they are at with wiring?
  16. I agree, the trees were ok before, but served no purpose for finding rides, shops, and rest rooms. The treeless map is a lot cleaner and easier to read for first time guests. I also think the ride scale is meant to be funny and makes the map have more character. I am ok with it either way.
  17. The supports are still blue in that map! Seems to be the correct color scheme to me!
  18. Yep, Sparky showed us his trick and it is helpful. I tind it to be a lot more fun in those 90 degree curves. During the Holiday Hustle we rode it about 8 times in a row and moved seats quite a bit. With Sparky's advice, I could not tell a difference no mater what seat we were in. Might want to give this a try at least once and if you see one of us there, let us show you how to do it although Sparky is the best trainer at this!
  19. Thanks for sharing! Really enjoyed it!
  20. Maybe you will luck into getting one of those days off? Looking forward to seeing you at the park soon!
  21. I was never unhappy with the change in the first place. I was very excited to the see the area getting some attention. I said many times in the past that my child will get on all the rides and have a blast no matter the name of the ride, or what decal is pasted on it. You still get the same ride experience. As soon as they climb aboard and the ride cycle starts they are just as happy as any other child when it was HB, Nick, or now PS. I am pretty sure my child was more excited about PS than Nick, for he has several Snoopy movies and was not exposed to the Nick garbage as much at that point.
  22. This video should help you understand how it operates. It does drop to let people off, just not the free fall rate of DT. Welcome to KIC!
  23. It looks like they are building the maintenance observation area right now (in the grey with hand rails) and am guessing the "red thing" is going to be the topper for the ride. I think it will attach to the top of the grey observation piece they are building. I am also guessing that if there is an elevator, it would have already been placed inside the first piece of the tower when put in place. Just my guess though!
  24. Good question. I have been wondering that myself. I was hoping it would show up in the cam soon to give us that answer.
  25. I think it is valid question. Do I think there needs to be a physical ride OP at the top, no. There could be a virtual OP by the means of cameras as others have mentioned. There is only one way to find out for sure. Ride it on April 30th! If this person at the top is watching you ride, you should be able to see them as well right?
