  1. At Holiday World on Saturday a few kids were exiting the Raven station and one said, "At Kings Island the red train goes forward and the blue train goes backwards." One of us in our group went. "Not Anymore." I don't think they heard us though...
  2. A few more pics that I just got from Jesse! Thanks Jesse!
  3. Paul from the ACE Midwest group sent us an email a few days before the event that stated the following to get us pumped up. DOTHE HUSTLE!! DO THE HUSTLE!! Adda clap here and there, sway them hips to the groove and YOUR DOING THE HUSTLE!! Better yet.....SIT DOWN!!....CLICK THAT SEATBELT!!....PULL DOWN THAT LAPBAR!! and DO THE COASTER HUSTLE!! I did not know what to expect since this was my first ACE event, thanks to Kat! The only thing I did know was the ERT would be fun and the KICer's at the event would have a good time! I picked up Jesse (Avatar) at 5:45 AM and we jumped on 65. We actually got there in about 2.5 hours getting there ½ hr before registration. After stopping at the gas station outside the park we pulled in the front gates. As you can see here the parking lot was ridiculously full! : ) Took a pic of Raven as we waited for the ACE registration table to be set up to get our info for the day. Jared (Ro Tag) joined us a few minutes after we got there. Avatar and I got each got a pic with Pat Koch which we took on Jesse's camera, so I don't have that photo yet. The park was starting to get busy for there was 5 events in the park that day including our group. Robbie (Coasters RZ) and Scott (IBEW_Sparky) joined us a few minutes before it was time for our first event of the day. A ride on Gobble Getaway with the lights on was the first thing on the schedule for the day. Something that was not really on our schedule was that they took us on the paths under/through Raven and Legend on the way to the Thanksgiving section. Here are the pics that I took enjoy! Raven Shots! Now the Legend Photos Our Gobble Getaway ride with the lights on ride was very cool. We were also hitting targets during the ride so I did not take any pics in there. It seems like that there are a lot of scenes in what seems like a small building. Themeing in there is great, Awesome ride! It is ranked with BBOBH, but for different reasons. After the GG ride the next item on the agenda was first ride of the day on Voyage so we were all standing in the queue for Voyage. Here I am in a self portrait with this serious look on my face in the station waiting for the park to open so we can be boarded. This is, serious business, KIC friiends, and Voyage, and an ACE Event! (I tried!) Before we got on the ride, the ride Ops went around and polished up any dirt or dampness out of the seats and on the side of the train, and yes this was still the PTC train. We had a great first ride. This was Jesse's first time on Voyage and he was just WOW'ed when he got off, as was everyone. I had forgotten how good that ride is, the adrenalin rush is awesome! I love The Beast, but I think we really need a "take your breath away" GG woddie at KI! After that we headed to Legend and had a great ride on it. We then went and rode Raven as well. Raven is good coaster, but still don't feel it is as good as the hype.Voyage on the other hand, Yes! So that is why we headed back to it. With only 1 train operation we were not sure how long the line would be or the capacity. None of the switch backs were open so we waited about 20 minutes. We were all amazed again at this ride! We then headed for Gobble Getaway to get a lights off ride. Still did not score very well… We expected it to be raining when we got out and it was, it rained lightly fo rabout ½ hr but that did not slow us down. We got some lunch at Plymouth Rock Café. Got all this food for $11.00. Holy Cow! We then were just walking around to let our food settle and noticing the park getting very busy. After that and the rain it was warming up and getting very humid. We noticed that the Raven queue was short so we hopped in that line. Robbie and I rode in the front this time, the back is where it's at on the Raven in my opinion! It was time for the Voyage walk back tour so we headed back to the Thanksgiving section. We had an awesome walk back tour, one of the park employees said "This does not happen very often. "Here are all the pics I took. Enjoy! As we make our way past the forbidden area! Who let these crazy guys back here? Jesse who is ready to get back on for a ride! Scott and Jesse I think this one is my favorite!! It was very warm and muggy out and at this point the next event item was Supper at 6:45. So Jesse and I really wanted to try Wildebeest. Although Scott and Robbie brought swim trunks they did not want to get in the water. So Jesse and I got our gear out of the car, we changed in the bath house, and then headed right towards WB. We got in the queue which was ¾ full. A switch back behind us we saw Sean (IndianapolisMan) and his wife in line. So we reverse line jumped to chat with them in line. We asked the people around us if they cared before we did so. After an hour and a half we were boarding the 4 person boat. The first lift hill was a conveyor belt, at the top the life guard said "the water was really cold!" Kidding her, we said, "your telling this to us now!" She was right, when we got a splash of water it was cold. The only bad thing was, the chlorine was very strong, so between that and the sweat on our faces our eyes were burning and could not see much. I really loved the ride, it was a nice long ride with a little air time on a few of the drops (at least for me in the back of the boat.)Going up the hills with the magnets pulling you was an interesting feeling. Wish we had time for a reride! We did look like drowned rats when we got off, at that point we were cold. We went to the big wave pool and warmed up a little for that water was warmer. We then decided to hit a few more water rides while we were wet. We hit Zinga, which is like KI's Tazmanian Typhoon. I had never ridden one of these before so it was a fun ride. We then went and rode ZOOMbabwe which is the longest enclosed slide and it was a very long ride, every time you turn a corner you think you are going to enter the pool and you don't. At this point it was a few minutes after 5 so Jesse and I figured we needed to get out and get redressed and start thinking about dinner. We meet back up with Robbie and Scott, and Jared after coming back in the park. We took a ride on Legend. I said, "hey we have enough time we could do The Frightful Falls," so we ran over to do that. A few of us got a little wet, so we were giving each other a hard time on doing that ride. It was Supper time. We had pulled pork and chicken for supper, afterward we got a Q & A from Gravity Group's Engineer Korey Kiepert. Before we headed for ERT Paula from HW said that since they did not get the Timberliners on before the event they were going to give us a free tickes to return at a later date when they were in operation. This was way above the call of duty and shows how great this park really is! After that we had ERT on Vogage,Legend, and Raven. I got 5 rides in on Voyage, 2 in the back, 1 in the front, and 2 in the middle. WOW is all I can say. The last 2 rides were quite dark. We then went to Legend and Robbie and I rode it 2 times. We then wanted to hit Raven, it was a total blackout in the 2nd half of the ride. We got 3 rides on it during the ERT. I really want to thank Jesse, Robbie, Scott, Jared, Kat, and Nick for a great day. Being this was my first ACE event and first event at HW, it will one I won't soon forget. Thanks to ACE and Holiday World for all of their hospitality.
  4. Awesome trip report as always Angie. I am working on my HW PTR from Saturday, I hope to have it up this evening! Glad you and Tom had a great time, KIC'ers at HW did as well!
  5. I feel rivertown junction is the best deal for your buck. Spend a few dollars more than any other place in the park and you get a buffet, and free refills. If I am there all day I will eat a bigger breakfast at home, then eat there around 2 to 3 and then you just want a snack for dinner like a pretzel. That is what I like to do anyway!
  6. Don't miss their bumper cars, theirs and Indiana Beach's are the old style and the most fun!
  7. Marathoning DB with Giga on Ride Warriors Weekend in 2009 from midnight to 1am. I was already exhausted from getting there at 6am. Then during the DB ERT we were literally running out of the station and back in the queue again. That was the first day I had personally meet Giga and within an hour you would have thought we had known each other for years. I meet and made good friends that day and will never forget it. Also, ridding Woodstock Express with my son for the first time in 2009. He marathoned that think about 7 times in a row going back and fourth between Mommy and I as his ride partner!
  8. I think my son was just a few months old when he went for the first time. As stated above Lakota88, let them decide and I think a little persuasion is fine, but do not force them, they will come around the next time your at the park. Welcome to KIC by the way!
  9. Thanks for the PTR Dave. Like Jesse said, it is nice to see all these parks you visit.
  10. $15.00 is not a bad price. I wonder how many GP people would attend one of these walk backs? Just to clarify: $14.95 is an arbitrary price that Interpreter made up. The official price hasn't been announced yet. Terpy would not post Fictional information would he? Thanks for clearing that up though, for I thought he found it on the website and posted it.

  12. Not trying to sound like a jerk at all, but I guess the only way to know for sure it to take it to another park and try it. With the issues some have had with their Platinum Passes not working, maybe they mixed up the gold passes for the Platinum Passes in their system? Let us know how it goes!
  13. There was construction last Friday, but that was for the Starlight show. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/visit/events/index.cfm?id=187 I highly doubt we see a new ride next year, I am guessing the funds for that is going to go towards SOB repair, if feasible.
  14. That is what I was thinking DBfan. People were at the park yesterday and I'm sure again today.
  15. It looks like from the comments above that us enthusiasts would buy them anyway. I have 2 KI Polos with The Beast's 25 year anniversary logo on them. I love those shirts, but I have wore them out and need a shirt that does not have Paramount on it!
  16. I was thinking the same thing myself, go back and fourth each year being the "Dominate" side to even out coaster wear and tare!
  17. I think the answer to this is clear, for there already is a park like this in Cincy. They call it Coney Island. It is a small park that seems to withstand the test of time! For this is their what 124th season? Robbie?
  18. I agree, see my post here to support your comment. http://www.KICentral...ndpost&p=375753
  19. These are from a few kids as we sit in the brake run on FD. We almost hit The Beast coming around that corner. I think we aught to go ride Firebird next. Ride Op on FD before we are dispatched "Flight Deck, the only ride in the park where the lift hill is longer than that actual ride."
  20. Nice report! What are the reservations you have about ridding DB? Height, restraints, Look?
  21. I left the house at around 7 AM and was waiting for Gary(XGatorHead) at the Metal Detectors. He texted me and said he just left the house to get there. I was a little jealous of this since I had been on the road for 2 hrs to be standing there and he would be there in less than 10 minutes. While waiting the first school bus pulled up and I would say there was only about 2 dozen max for the day. I used to attend M and S day with the school I work at and there would be around 100 busses in the lot those days. Most field trips have been cut in In dy and it showed at KI yesterday. When ERT stated we headed for DB and got the second train of the day and did not leave that train until the ROTB's filled the queue. Gary and I got 7 rides in during ERT. We were happy about that Count. Gary and I had not hit Firehawk yet this season and with the park so empty we headed straight there. After a station wait on FH, we hit up FOF. Still can take a nap on the MCBR, but still a good ride. The lower lights were on in the building so you could see the track pretty well, not sure if this is the norm now? We wanted to hit FD, but hit up Racer on the way. Red trains are still not in the mood to race. We then got 2 rides in on FD. We wanted to hit up Invertigo while the lines we good, but it was having some major issues. Considering there were 3 maintenance men working on it and several parts hanging off they got it running mid afternoon. Way to go KI Maintenance, thanks for the hard effort. It did not look like it was an easy fix.. We then hit Gary and I's favorite flat in the park, Delirum. We then heard DB was calling our names so we headed back to Rivertown. Got a good ride in on DB, then we hit up BBOBH. The skeleton scenes were not on and we told a ride op about the issue. We then went into PS and rode Surf Dog, it still looks funny without the Avatar guy on the train. Snoopy themes and paint job looked good. We then hit up Flying Ace Aerial Chace. Still is funny to me the kids steel coaster is rougher that DB! Since we were right there we decided DB sounded good so we rode that again. We were starting to get warm and noticed the line for Race For Your Life Charlie Brown was not bad so we decided to cool off. Did not get verywet, but what we did get felt good. We then decided it was time to lap back around the park and hit the rides we missed the fist time around. We went to Beast and took 2 rides on him once in the back and then in the front. I still prefer the back of the train. We hit up BLSC and found the name of that ride to not be the same as stated in other places: ) We then hit Vortex. Got a 7-1 and 7-2 ride and was very good. The first drop still gets my stomach in a different way than what even DB does. Hard to explain it. The weekend before I was at my grandmothers with my mother and wife where I was talking about the number of trash cans in the park. I said it was a good thing, but felt sorry the crew that has to empty all of them and said when you are in Coney Mall there are prbabbly 100 trash cans in that midway. My wife said, "no there can not be that many." So you know what that means, I counted them. As of that of the day and to my best count I counted 97 trash cans down Coney Mall. (This includes the new recycle bins.) We then hit up Race and AE. It was cool seeing the lava lit up. Way to go KI! We were getting warm again so we went to Congo Falls to cool off. We got quite wet there, felt good. We then were ready to sit down and relax. What better ride to do that on than the train! Since we were back in Rivertown why not hit up DB! We meet up with Jackson (Beast1979) in the queue so we joined our group. Jackson had not gotten his one ride a year on Crypt, so he dragged Gary and I on it. We then went to hit Beast, and I rode with Jackson who got a bug in his right eye. I had to help him get the little burger out. Once I told Jackson were the bug was at in his eye he got it out and it was still alive. We decided to hit up BLSC and then Vortex where Jackson and I rode in 7-1 and 7-2 and Gary rode 5-1. Gary likes 7-1 better than 5-1, sorry Terpy! When we got off Vortex waiting for us by the exit was Danielle (Keiko_Coaster.) I know she likes SB 3-D and asked it she had already rode and she said no, so Jackson and her wanted to ride it. Gary and I had never seen the SB movie since it came there, nor did we have any intentions to do so, but we went along. It was not as bad as we thought. We left the theater and I realized my wallet was not in my pocket. Luckily the doors had not closed and I went back in and sure enough there it was in my seat. The moving seat vibrated it out of my pocket. When we got back near The Vortex exit we meet up with Robbie (CoastersRZ.) We now had 5 in our group in case you were not keeping up. We then rode Scrambler, Racer, AE, Deliruim, and DT. We then headed to FD and Gary took a pic of uswhere the SOB cage used to be. From Left to right, myself, Danielle, and Jackson.) We then rode BBOBH where Robbie's score reset half way through, Boocifer did not like his score I guess? We then hit up Surf Dog again. I was getting tired and the sandals I was wearing was rubbing the back of my heel on one foot raw so it was getting painful to walk. I wanted to get one more ride in on DB before I left for the day. Gary and I got in seats 3-3 and 3-4 which was the closest to the front we had been all day. After that it was about 8:45 and I decided to make my 2 hr drive back to Indy. All in all a very good day at the park. I want to thank Gary for the invite on KIC and everyone else who joined our group that made it that much more fun! Ride Count AE – 2 Beast - 3 BBOBH - 2 BLSC – 2 CF -1 Crypt - 1 DB – 11 DT - 1 Delirum – 2 FAAC - 1 FD - 3 FH -1 FOF -1 Racer - 3 RFYLCB – 1 SB 3D - 1 SD – 2 Scrambler – 1 Train - 1 Vortex – 2 Total: 42 Rides!
  22. New pic of Timberliner on Holiblog http://www.holidayworld.com/node/3273
  23. And even worse, there are others waiting to do the same thing!
  24. I thought that they looked pretty good considering they had to strip them of their MINI theme! Generic looking is what they were going for I do believe, but the pain job's I thought were nice.
  25. Considering how well they done this year with PS and BBOBH, I feel that KI is heading in the right direction to make this ride awesome as well. I am glad they are taking the time to make the right decision for this ride. I would rather it be SBNO for 2 years and get a great ride out of it, than trying to get it up by next season and be ok. I believe the ride has the potential to be a crowd pleaser, it will just take some time.
